Product Information

  • Overview

The UCube loudspeakers are defined by their amazingly open and room-filling audio. Remarkable for their size, the UCubes are at home on any desktop and look as good as they sound.

    Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR)

An impressive application of a very unique driver design, the BMR creates unparalleled dispersion from a single driver. Its flat front surface area is physically obvious at first glance but the 170-degree dispersion it creates is more than just cosmetic. Producing a very wide sound field, the UCube speakers allow everyone in the room to enjoy a true stereo effect, not just the person at the keyboard.

    Multi-functional USB connection

Your computer's USB port provides both the digital signal and power source for the UCube speakers. This means no additional power supply or associated cables.

    Total Digital Signal Path

Keeping the audio signal completely in the digital domain results in pristine musical reproduction. In fact, the signal only becomes analog as it leaves the internal amplifier on its way to the individual drivers. This also allows for complex digital signal processing (DSP) that supports careful adjustment of the speakers at the factory to achieve maximum performance.

    Extremely simple installation and set-up

The UCube speakers are absolutely “plug-n-play.” Simply connect the main speaker to your computer's USB port with the supplied mini to standard USB cable. Then connect the two speakers together with the supplied speaker cable. Place the speakers on either side of your notebook or display and you're ready to enjoy the UCube experience.

    Impressive look and feel

Built for years of listening enjoyment, these speakers are just as impressive visually as they are sonically. They sit on brushed aluminum stands that support them elegantly at exactly the right listening angle.

    Flexible and portable

Since there's no need for additional power, the UCube speakers can follow you and your notebook anywhere—from an office or a dorm room to a park bench or the backyard picnic table.

Ratings & Reviews

  • Clever little punchy thing

    5.0 out of 5 stars

Love this for removing some of the clutter on my desk, and for travelling.
It's not just the lack of a wire to the plug, but that the plug is always a whacking great transformery thing that weighs a ton.
Sound pretty punchy, and neatly designed.
Most Apple-like speaker out there in terms of design philosophy and simplicity.

  • Solid Design, Crisp Audio

    4.0 out of 5 stars

The best way to describe the sound of these speakers is (in my mind) "crisp". Hi-hats and cymbals come across crystal clear. The m id-tone ranges sound solid. The only reason for subtracting one star is the bass tonal quality. It doesn't pack much of a punch, and the bases sound a bit muted. The solution here would be to add a bass cube, making it a 2.1 system, which I would find appropriate for the current price -- or maybe up to as much as 179.99, but not more.

Regarding their construction: they are sturdy and feel solid. The only improvement that could be made is to where the stands attach to the speakers: they are screwed on through a single hole, allowing the speakers to twist diagonally when handled. Perhaps the stand fixture area on the speaker could include notches to prevent this.

One other thing I noticed right off the bat, and that I have a little trouble with: the speaker-to-speaker cable is short, no more than 3 feet. I would appreciate a 6-foot cable here, so that I can place the speakers on the far sides of my desk.

Would I buy these speakers again? Yes, they are excellent workstation speakers. However, if you are an audiophile, make sure you have a bass unit to compliment these speakers. Aside from the bass, they sound great. And don't take me wrong, the bass isn't bad, just not at the same level as the mid- and high-ranges on these speakers.

  • Terrific Prduct

    5.0 out of 5 stars

How do they do it? Great sound from very small compact speakers. Very easy hookup with all necessary cables being supplied. Not only sounds great, but looks great.
Only Bass freaks will be disappointed and you can always add a sub. Glad to get rid of the larger speakers I had....they only added clutter to my desk.
    Great work UCube .

I just picked up these speakers at my favorite Apple store today, hooked them up to my iMac and cranked up iTunes. They sound grea t, turned up, with zero distortion. I am so glad I bought them.

  • Good for $75 - not $150...

    2.0 out of 5 stars

I purchased these speakers after studying some pretty good reviews - and I agree with much of what's written. They're well made, l ook great, and are a definite upgrade over built-in computer speakers.
However, it doesn't strike me as a $150 upgrade.
Of course, with no sub there's not going to be rattling bass, but it's really not much more than the sound coming from the computer already. But that didn't surprise me as much as the overall lack of precision and clarity I'd hoped for.
In my opinion, there are far better sounding speakers on the market for $150 and some that sound better for half that.
