  • Exactly what I was looking for!

The band is of a very nice quality. I was extremely satisfied with this purchase. As other reviews have indicated, the clip-in, cl ip-out functionality is ideal and the i-pod fits snuggly. It definitely doesn't feel cheap by any means. My only issue with the watchband was how difficult it was to remove the pins in order to re-size it. Sure, this could be circumvented by going to a shop, but you can definitely do the work yourself. Just be prepared to spend some time on it. Other than that, no complaints. I can't wait to start wearing this on a daily basis and I will definitely be considering Hex for future purchases.

  • HEX gunmetal. Great! No pin removal tool.

    4.0 out of 5 stars

Ive always liked metal watch bands because I find plastic ones break and leather ones start to smell after the sweat it collects.

I really like the style of this band. It locks really well and there's no fear that it will unclip from regular use. The gunmetal looks really cool too.

My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a tool to remove the rods when adding or removing links. My band came too small for my wrist and after much searching on the net, I learned that his style wrist band can have the pins pushed out. Not exactly an easy task. As long as you find a pin small enough to fit in the pin hole (used a threading needle), you can use a hammer to knock the pins out. Keep in mind, the arrows on the back of the band show the direction the pins need to be pushed out. After you do that, add or remove the links desired and reassemble. Beats having to visit and jewellery store.

Overall, I'd recommend this wrist band if you like metal links. The Nano is easy to clip into the back plate and I don't notice any wiggle or movement once its in. Feels nice and secure. The controls and connector are easily accessible. Just be careful to lay it on its side when your not wearing it, the metal links may scratch the back of your Nano.

  • Pricey but functional

My Apple store's selection yesterday was limited to this band in both colors, the Hex leather band, and the iWatchz band in white. Another retailer reportedly had the IWatchz band in black. The gunmetal color ended up matching my Nano after I had it ghost armored. The employee helping me let me take it out of the box to look at it, and it fit perfectly out of the box (Hey, I have a normal sized body part, huzzah!).

Band is nice looking, matches my Nano, and I like the clasp action on it. It holds the nano securely, but I can still get it out without too much effort if I want to use it with my belkin plastic strap for exercising. Extra links are nice a nice touch, but fortunately not needed. The nano's different watch faces gives me the option of almost having a different watch every day. And the band doesn't add significant weight, the whole combo seems so light as to be barely noticeable. It doesn't seem to be the heaviest or most durable watch band I've seen, but the one year warranty and the ability to keep my receipt in my email due to its purchase at the Apple Store provide adequate reassurances.

I realize 3rd parties must pay an Apple tax, and need to make all the profits they can in case Apple suddenly decides to change the shape and functions of the Nano again. That said, it's a bit pricey for what you get, especially once you factor in the cost of the Nano itself. If the price was twenty or even ten dollars less, I would have given it five stars.

Questions & Answers

Answers from the community

  • I have a large wrist. How big is the band?

    Answer

I have a wrist that is on the smaller side & had to have 2 links removed. The band is now 6" long, from pin to pin connectors. Each link added would add aprox 3/8' extra length. The locking clasp do not have any adjustments (most locking clasps doe allow some adjustment). If possible try it on at a Apple store or order wher you would be able to return it. The other option would be to order the plastic band. My brother in law has the black one & it also has a cool look. Hope this helps.

Love my iPod Nano w/watch band & still get lots of comments on it.

The Black plastic & metal bands look pretty good w/the red Nano. No matter what you choose you will still get comments "thats a great looking watch" & then when you show them what it does they go WOW, or in the case of person I met at hardware store last week. He left right afterwards to go to the Apple store to get the watch band Nano combination.
