JAMBOX is the only speaker that gets smarter every time you plug it in. Just sync it with Jawbone's industry-first MyTALK online platform to download apps, software upgrades and more. JAMBOX will always be up to date.

Great for Travel - some initial setup issues

    • Written by from Pacific Palisades

Great for travel. I use in my office, at home and can pair both my company blackberry and personal iphone (does not work with original iphone you need 3G or later). I personally hate wearing headsets so having a speaker phone option is great. Music is perfect for personal use.

Had a setup issue with the speaker failing and the customer service folks at Jawbone were great. They sent me a new devise next day air and personally help me set up everything on Mytalk to customize my experience. Even with this initial problem I recommend this product. Get the red, you will be able to find it...

Awesome sound and easy to set up

    • Written by from DOWNERS GROVE

Wow, love this thing. We were shocked at how good it sounded. And we were amazed at how easy it was to set up. We were debating waiting for the right "air-enabled" speaker or this one and I'm really glad we bought this one. It's kind of like choosing 3G for your iPad. Sure, you might mostly use WiFi at home, but being able to use 3G away from home just makes the iPad that much better. Neither of our elderly parents have wireless in their homes and with the Bluetooth, we can bring this over and play TV shows and movies for them. Because, you know, they've lived through the Depression and they are not about to waste money on TV shows and movies they enjoy, sigh. This speaker is very small but packs a punch. If you are on the fence, get it. You will not be sorry. And the red is gorgeous ; ) More

    Overrated

    • Written by from Vancouver

I went to the Apple store to check out the JAMBOX, after seeing such great reviews. The Apple store (Vancouver) does not keep one on display, so I was not able to hear one live. I took the chance and got one anyway. My first disappointment was that you need a jackhammer to open up the packaging. My second disappointment was the sound. This is a small form factor device with, lets face it, small sound. I believe the other reviewer's expectations were very low, as there is no way this is a particularly impressive speaker system for Ipod type music sources. Convenient with nice features, but tinny, unimpressive sound. More

A bit over priced but worth it

    • Written by from Houston

The Jawbone Jambox is a small portable speaker that you can safely throw in your bag and not worry about damaging it in the process. It's sounds good for a small sealed speaker. It does tend to bounce itself off smooth surfaces so make sure you put a small piece of cloth under it if you're going to put it on a glass surface. It managed to jumped off my glass desk several times before I figured out this small trick.

I got the green special edition one but would have been happy to get the red model. I was ablle to use the speaker phone feature in my car with my iphone.

Dont expect bone shaking bass from this unit even though you can clearly feel the bass when you hold the speaker in your hand.

Overall it's a capable speaker for its size.

I purchased both the SoundLink and the Jambox to compare on my own terms. Jambox is not much bigger than a stick of butter. Bose SoundLink is about the size of a hardcover book. Jambox can pair with up to two devices, includes a speakerphone function, and can charge using any standard USB charger, such as the ones Apple includes with iPad. SoundLink can remember up to six devices, and it has a user-replaceable LiIon battery.

Jambox produces a surprising quality and volume of sound that belies its diminutive size. With the latest firmware update, the LiveSound feature greatly improves stereo separation so long as you are seated directly in front of the unit within a few feet. Move off center and the effect goes away. Jambox seems best suited for personal listening or for small groups. Both units are sensitive to room placement. For example, you can accentuate bass output by placing either unit on a table or counter backed into a corner.

SoundLink is simply more musical with better overall balance in sound, and it can output significantly louder volume than the Jambox if necessary. While Jambox provides a hint of bass, SoundLink lets you hear and enjoy bass melody lines, such as a fretless bass in acoustic jazz. SoundLink can fill a hotel room with enjoyable music you can listen to all day. Jambox is a neat trick, and sometimes sounds amazing, and sometimes not so much.

Both units are great, really. Jambox can slip into a laptop bag or jacket pocket. SoundLink easily packs into a roll aboard carry-on padded between clothes.

I'm tempted to keep both units, but the SoundLink wins out for enjoyable audio. It is more musical in the end, which is what counts for me.

    Answer

No reason why it shouldn't work in the bathroom as long as the battery is charged and it can connect via BT to the paired device. However, high levels of humidity and electronic devices don't usually mix well, so might be a good idea to avoid a particularly steamy bathroom environment. More
