Better than you can imagine
These are the best speakers I have ever used. They have an adjustable subwoofer, and you can go from zero bass to "feeling your in sides vibrate" bass. There is no distortion when maxed out on volume in all areas, actually they seem to get clearer (always crisp, never "tin can" sounding) the louder you crank them. I have tried at least a dozen "headset/ computer" speakers, some that were more than triple the price and some that were comparable. They do not look great in pictures, almost cheap, but in person, they are stunning and solid. The unique design is very minimal modern. I move them around my house with my airport express, and people ask me what they are (they have no idea they are speakers unless they are on) They are so versatile, I will plug them into my ipod, iphone, itouch, the computer, the airport express, anything with a headset jack, and I have an incredible stand alone stereo system. If you can't tell, I love them. Just try them, if they don't shock you and win you over, you can always return them, but I highly doubt that will happen. …

Wow! Now, you look at these little speakers and probably say, they probably are very crisp, but are not that loud. These little gu ys CRANK. Great little speakers
I was reading reviews on the bose three speakers which was what made me decide to choose these HK's, have to say I'm not disappoin ted at all. They have a great sound & simple to hook up, and for the money you can't beat them. they have great highs & good bass, sound great with audio or as movie cinema. I would recommend them highly for the money. …

Excellent!
To those with negative reviews, I say: Really? This system rocks, jams, and just plain kicks it. Under 200 bucks? For real. Bass? True. Treble? Sweet. Listen to strings. Listen to a flute. Listen to a Fender. Vocals? I cried. Truly. And, I'm a poet and a musician. And not an employee of Harman! Hey, I also love the aesthetics of this system. What a cool look. Knock out design, sound, price and I bet long term quality. Buy anything else, pay more than $200 and you'll be very sorry. Sure, wireless systems are terrific. But, again, for the price, the sound, the style - a few harmless cables - I could care less. Thank you Harman Kardon! Thank you Apple, once again, a happy customer! …

Superb Performance -- Excellent Price -- Easy Set-Up
I have used a number of different speakers with sub-woofers on my Mac. I am very particular about sound quality and have found thi s set to be the best performing at this price level. In fact, they outperform many premium speaker systems costing far more. Sound across the audio spectrum is produced faithfully even at high volume. Set up couldn't be simpler: just plug into a USB port. connect to an AC outlet, and start listening. Their appearance is a bit unusual, which may be a positive or negative according to your taste. However, the two sound sticks are mostly clear plastic and are quite unobtrusive, so this isn't much of an issue. …

Never impressed
These speakers never even came close, let alone lived up to all of the great reviews.
I've had them a little over a year and the speakers have essentially quit working.
Really disappointing! If Harmon Kardon won't do anything for me then they have lost a customer forever. If you are thinking about getting these speakers - be wary. …- Written by G James L from Boulder

Comparison between Sounsticks III and it's predecessor.
- Asked by Gt O from Georgetown
- Apr 15, 2011
Answer
The original was a USB based system not a mini-hifi plug. Original was blue to kinda-sorta match som e of the original blue colored plastic monitors. The original SoundSticks were designed by Apple with HK and were only sold through Apple for a while. Since Lion, the USB's stopped working and were made obsolete. They will work with Windoze with the appropriate driver. The sound is actually better to my ears. I used the Original until about a year ago when I finally switched to Snow Leopard on my Mini. Since the input signal uses a normal 3.5mm stereo plug the SoundSticks can be used with ANY device that has a mini output including your iPod and iPad. …
