Choose the processor that best meets your performance needs. Your MacBook Pro comes as standard with the 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. For even faster performance, configure your MacBook Pro with the 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor.
Your MacBook Pro features a dual-core Intel Core i5 or i7 processor based on 22-nanometer process technology with an advanced Core microarchitecture that features an integrated memory controller and Level 3 cache, giving the MacBook Pro faster, more direct access to memory. In addition, these processors feature:
You can upgrade the processor in your MacBook Pro to the 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor with 4MB L3 cache and Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.6GHz.
More memory (RAM) increases overall performance and enables your computer to run more applications at the same time.
The more memory your computer has, the more programs you can run simultaneously, and the better performance you'll get from your computer. Increasing the amount of memory in your MacBook Pro is an easy way to improve performance.
MacBook Pro uses one of the fastest memory technologies available today — 1600MHz, Double Data Rate (DDR3), synchronous dynamic random-access memory (SDRAM) — ensuring that the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors are constantly fed with data without wasting clock cycles.
Your MacBook Pro comes standard with a 5400-rpm Serial ATA hard drive. Or you can choose a solid-state drive that offers enhanced durability.
The larger the capacity (in gigabytes, or GB) of your hard drive, the more space is available to store your files and applications. A typical application today may take 10 to 50 megabytes (MB); photos may take up about 2-4MB each; graphics files can occupy more than 100MB; and video files are often many gigabytes in size.
MacBook Pro also offers an optional 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB solid-state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability. These are SATA solid-state drives, which are up to four times faster than a traditional hard drive.
All drives come formatted in the Mac OS Extended file format for efficient storage of your data.
Important note: For hard drive capacity measurements, 1GB = 1 billion bytes; actual formatted capacity less.
Configure your MacBook Pro with the following keyboard language options along with the language of the included user documentation.
Your MacBook Pro can be configured with the keyboard language options listed. The User’s Guide language will match that of the keyboard language chosen unless otherwise specified. Mac OS X is a multilingual operating system. During the setup process you can choose one of the many languages it supports for application menus and dialogs and to read and write text. Mac OS X also allows you to select your preferred language at any time using System Preferences.
Note: Your computer comes equipped with cables appropriate for the country in which you purchased it.
