    Crashed my computer too

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Same as the writer of 'worthless' (may 25 2006), when I tried to convert an AVI file to MOV, my computer crashed significantly. The machine went off, and started beeping. The beeping did not even stop when I removed the power cord - had to wait a little longer. It was terrifying.

I hope Apple gives me my money back.

What is the point of Quick Time

    • Written by from Basingstoke

I have been a register user of Quick Time Pro 7 since September 2005 and to be quite honest I can't see the point of it. Half the time it does not work as it should and the other half it quicker to use another product that is less sensitive to its file associations. On top of that you get more than you bargained for, iTunes which hijacks your media file associations and then is a devil to get rid of. Then to add insult to injury when you check for a Quick Time update all you get is a screen which asks you to purchase the latest version of Quick Time. I originally bought Quick Time to edit Quick Time files but to be honest it quicker and easier to convert to another format and then edit from there. Shame really but there you go.

    Great for simple editing

I was hesitant to purchase Quicktime Pro after reading many negative comments. However, it worked great for a simple video editing project I had to do for work.

VERY DISAPOINTED WITH THIS PRODUCT, WASTE OF MONEY.I downloaded this product for my Ipod in order to watch movies, either I am an idiot or the application failed, I can not download a single movie, I thought it would be easier than this. My impression was once downloaded, it would be a one step process;NOT.

Purchased Quicktime Pro to do two things, convert video to avi or make a video presentation. It converted to avi but the quality stinks and to make a presentation you would have to be a freaking genius!!

Don't waste your money on this program it is junk!!!!!!!

I wrote more but I had to edit out my true feelings so it would publish!!!

    It does what I wanted

    • Written by from North Richland Hills

I read reviews before I bought this and they all seemed terrible, I bought it anyway, and it wasn't terrible for me.

I bought Pro to convert .AVI and .MOV files to better, smaller file sizes for streaming on the web. For converting video to streaming format Quicktime 7 does it, and it does it very well. I am not sure what the other people are experiencing, but if you are investing in Quicktime Pro to convert and export video, you won't be disappointed.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from San antonio

I download this product because it promised to be able to convert avi files and ect to ipod apple tv or ipod movie files but they seem to never work. Also the QTP seems to only play a view files and thats really disappointed and it was a wasted of 28 bucks, I really wish they had a 10 day trail so I could have at least tested it.

QuickTime 7 Pro actually does not recognize AVi files, Movie DVDs. I've spent 30$ for nothing. Bravo Apple, that's the way how to make money.

    Great

    • Written by from Daytona Beach

I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about. I installed QuickTime 7 Pro on my Mac 10.4.11 with absolutely no problems, and it's insanely easy to use.

I also don't know what people don't like about its avi compatibility... it works fine for me.

I downloaded a movie in avi format and wanted it on my ipod - it was easy as sin. Open the avi file, and export for ipod. How hard is that?

There's a few things this can't do, but for all that, use Handbrake. It's free, and just as easy as QT 7 Pro.

    QT Pro Win7 64bit repurchase?

    • Written by from North Sydney

I bought Quicktime pro while I was using my Windows XP region. And with the camera I have it was absolutely a bargain for the price.

I do have one issue though, now that I have upgraded my PC to Windows 7 64bit do I have to buy another copy to have a functioning Quicktime Pro?

    Basic, but Useful and Simple

    • Written by from Holden

QT Pro has the right price tag -- it's better (more reliable and simpler to use) than most free or similarly-price applications for either OS X or Windows. On the other hand, it's got a reduced feature set and oversimplified editing controls as compared to full video-editing tools. Don't expect flashy over-the-top "Movie Maker"-type features.

Exporting is solid, supporting quite a few formats. It's been easily extended to support 3rd party compressions/formats as needed, although I'm definitely more of a casual user.

I first bought QT Pro 5 for Windows back when I hated Apple, and had a handful of video editing apps from Adobe and others. QT Pro was the first Apple app that I [begrudgingly] used...then came iTunes. A year later I bought a Mac. The reliability, simplicity, and overall usefulness appealed to me; I just needed to get the job done. QT Pro gets the job done.

    Poor Product from apple

    • Written by from plandome

I go tthis product just so i can put videos on my ipod...i was disapointed at the way you need to convert the file...its requires you to convert the file one at a time (you cant have set up a list and let it run..) and the conversion time is very slow. I gave it a two instead of a one because it does what it says but in a very poor fashion...and is not worth $30.00

    Converting to iPod for idiots

    • Written by from Whistler

I have read plenty of reviews saying that when they convert a video to iPod format they don't get any sound.

well heres how to do it: first export the video to iPod, now convert it again under the same name, in the same folder, but this time select "sound to Wave" instead of iPod. then select both files at once and drag them to iTunes.

I hope this will help the image of Quicktime for those who have bought it or are going to purchase it.

    Bloatware At Its Best

    • Written by

What does iTunes have to do with a video playback tool? Exactly. I dont want iTunes yet I have to install it in order to use QuickTime. Looks like the few sites that utilize the great technology Apple built will slowly dissappear. This doesnt come as a shock given the constant bombardment of upgrade adds your previous products had. Good luck Apple in your quest to become as mediocre as Real Networks and Microsoft -- you're almost there!

Like drug commercial warnings on TV

    • Written by

Some of the reviews tout the great benefits of QT7P and the rest scare you off with diasterous side-effects just like the TV drug ads. To get to the point: if I want to convert and combine (read:edit) numerous .mov files to create one movie playable on my WindowsVista PC, and burn CD's or DVD's to give to friends who will want to play on the average PC, what do I do. Do I risk the "side-effects" and gamble on QT7P or install something else like .......?

Professional tool at a bargain price

    • Written by from SOUTH SALEM

I've been using QuickTime Pro for years and have found it to be an extremely helpful application. The tools available in this product are not always obvious, but with a bit of digging in the help files, I've been able to convert, update, and enhance audio and video files to my heart's content. It doesn't replace an edit program... its not meant to, but for simple fixes and producing content for multiple platforms without a lot of fuss, there's no better solution that I can think of.
