Product Information

  • Overview

Torq MixLab is so simple to learn that you'll be DJing and mixing CDs for your friends immediately. And it's powerful enough to take you from small parties all the way to stadium gigs.

    Start spinning tonight

Designed for both Mac and PC, Torq LE is designed to work right out of the box. Just connect your compatible M-Audio interface, fire up Torq and the program takes care of the rest.

    Total digital file access

Torq LE software allows you to cue, beat-match and mix a wide variety of digital audio file formats, including MP3, AIFF, WAV, WMA, Apple Lossless and AAC. The program organizes all of your digital files into an easily searchable database, enabling you to pull up the perfect track or change up your set in an instant. You can even access your entire iTunes library through Torq LE, so you can truly have all of your music at your fingertips.

    Wheels of virtual steel

Torq LE organizes everything you need to DJ into a single, easy-to-use workspace. Two virtual decks let you load, cue and play back digital files--and will even automatically beat-match the files in an instant. And just like a traditional DJ setup, Torq LE includes an integrated two-channel mixer with three-band EQ, level controls, headphone cueing, a crossfader and three effects.

    A hands-on experience

Who wants to DJ with a mouse? The X-Session Pro fuses the standard controls of a two-channel DJ mixer with the transport and pitch controls of a turntable or DJ CD player, enabling you to control everything from a single interface. The mixer controls allow you to make smooth crossfades and adjust level, cueing, and EQ parameters--while the integrated transport and pitch controls allow you to start, stop and beat-match digital files in Torq LE.

You're getting a midi controller, folks, not an audio interface... professional DJ solutions cost a lot more than this, be informed about what you're buying and read the manuals beforehand. This previously didn't even come with the Torq software- I was surprised to find this MixLab package was available, and that's why I bought it from Apple. I've been playing with this for some weeks now, and I'm quite impressed with it, especially using the X-Session Pro hardware with professional DJ software and interface... the Torq software isn't as responsive as other pro DJ software like Traktor DJ Studio, but I love the X-Session Pro controller this package comes with. The knobs and faders are well crafted, and I'm particularly impressed with the crossfader so far, it's glider smooth, responsive, and has taken some abuse without a hitch. The controller is not cheaply made like other reviews have said. This can be used as a controller for music production software as well, and most people don't know that you can save and load up to 10 sets of midi commands for controlling other software using the Enigma editor available on the M-Audio website. This is a good complement for pro software like Traktor DJ Studio using a pro interface like the M-Audio Conectiv. This package with the Torq LE software is great for teaching the basic skills of DJing and awesome for those who actually want to learn to beatmatch without buying turntables or CD decks. You really can't ask for anything more from this product for the money, this is an excellent buy. I highly recommend it for beginners and professionals alike.

M-Audio doesn't tell you....you need a separate audio output device via USB or Firewire with (Multiple Line/Channel Outputs) with M-Audio doesn't tell you....you need a separate audio output device via USB or Firewire with (Multiple Line/Channel Outputs) with 2 outputs not 1. Other than that the control interface feels good to use.

I thought I had finally found something that would give me the ability to mix without tables and to tell you the truth, the concept is great and I am sure it can work.
The problem is, I have an iMac, which has only one port for sound output, on the back side and when plugging the headphones, it automatically turns the onboard sound off.
The M-Audio software is supposed to take care of the cue ability but does not. I have been spinning for around13 years and I have never seen a mixer with out a phones jack, which happens to be the case here.
There is no possible way to fix this, that I know of and I even tried it on a windows box and got the same results. I am $100 disappointed and suprised that this is being sold at all.

I am not a club dj yet, only because i am not of age! although i have experience! and i got this product for free... honestly even I am not a club dj yet, only because i am not of age! although i have experience! and i got this product for free... honestly even for beginners this is the worst product i have ever used! it has nothing that is useful to really mix or learn how to mix music! i started off with a Behringer bcd 3000 and traktor le as a software.... now that i recommend! Honestly, apple should seriously consider taking this product off their website and stop selling it as well! This is the worst piece of junk M-Audio has ever made!

  • Perfect in so many ways!!!

I purchased this product in 2007 for $99 to learn how to do basic mixing and get my feet wet with 'real' DJing.

I am currentl I purchased this product in 2007 for $99 to learn how to do basic mixing and get my feet wet with 'real' DJing.

I am currently a resident DJ for a large nightclub and I DJ various corporate and holiday parties in my area and still use this product for EVERY gig!

What some of these reviewers fail to understand is that you WILL need the y adapter to do true cueing with this product, but I bought my adapter and headphone adapters for less than $10 total. BUT, the need for this adapter is stated on this products box AND on the Torq website. Granted, this is a piece of plastic equipment, but if you expect true 'professional' quality equipment you won't find it at this price point. I have upgraded to the Torq Conectiv in order to increase sound quality and have true headphone cueing capabilities.

In the end, this product never claims to be something it isn't and not only is it great for learning the basic concepts, but it is a reliable MIDI controller that will provide years of use for a true gigging DJ.

    KUDOS M-Audio!
