I already had the 2008 version of Microsoft Office for Mac, which was much better by the way. The 2008 version included Entourage (email), and this 2011 version gives the impression it includes Outlook, but it's only the icon, and when you click it prompts you to purchase it separately. Microsoft Word is temperamental and doesn't always give you time to save before crashing. I didn't use PowerPoint or Excel, so I can't comment on those. By the way, why aren't we allowed to purchase Microsoft Word by itself? It would be great to have that option since some of us don't need the other applications... Do yourself a favor and buy iWorks or the 2008 version of Microsoft Office.

Sage advice: hit the save button frequently or you will lose hours of work. Since I need to edit a lot I have gone back to a cheap PC.

I am working on my research and many times is just stack and close and I loss my data. It is just stupid I never have something like this before. It always keep logging off and then they ask for username and password and it does not accept them and sometimes it does. It just a trash that I never own something like that before.

It is slower, word check is consistently wrong and flagging up, and suggesting changes that are completely absurd, which doesn't confuse Word for PC. It glitches and loses documents. I LOVE my Mac but would consider going back to PC because of the lack of a decent word processor, if it wasn't what Microsoft want me to do. Cannot believe I spent good money on this.
    BOO.

The slo I am deeply disappointed that Microsoft continue to deliver a product that has such poor performance on the Mac platform. The slow to respond and constant waiting for the system to respond even on the latest quad processor i5 chip with 16Gb RAM and SSD hard drive.

This is surprising considering that Excel was only available on Mac 20 or so years ago. It must be a deliberate move on their part.
