Not flimsy, but could be better

First of all, it is unfair to claim the new tri-fold design to be unstable: fold it with the inner (the side that is in contact with your screen) out and it works just fine.

Secondly, it is quite a pity to no longer have leather version of smart case available for iPad Air :(

Last but not least, speaking from an engineering perspective, iPad Air's smart case cannot be four-fold for the simple reason that given its reduced width, a four-fold case won't be providing support at a proper height as the old one - think about it yourself. But honestly, apple should have thought of a better solution than just turning it tri-fold.

    3 stars.

It's ok but nothing compared to iPad 2 leather cover.

I love my leather iPad 2 cover. The poly air cover just doesn't live up to the stylish leather iPad 2 cover. Why would they change such a beautiful design for something so cheap feeling. The functionality of the new cover does not work as good either. I just don't understand why the new cover would be made worse than the old model.

    Okay, but certainly not outstanding.

The 3-panel design is worse than before, but given the smaller width of the device it seems like a reasonable choice. With 4 panels, each one would be too small for a good angle. I found that it is much more stable, if you fold it with the linen-surface outwards. This way, the edge is burried under the connecting part and it hardly unfolds. It can get more dirty but you'll probably use it on a desk or on your lap. However, there should be a leather option and it should be a little stiffer for this price. When sliding in and out a bag the cover can easily move.
