    Looks Terrible After 2 Months

    • Written by from Bridgewater

I bought this color thinking that it would be something different from the usual black that I always get. Here is the problem with that: it became filthy so quickly. My iPad is in my backpack, in the laptop compartment, where the only other thing it comes in contact with is my macbook. Other than that, it is in my hands (which are usually clean) or on a table top. The case has stains all over it already and looks terrible. I'm majorly regretting not going with the black case - this one looks so poor now, and I spent so much money on it.

Bought it because it was light. Worked okay, but the past few days I've been trying to use it as a stand and it doesn't work. (Just read others are having the same problem) BUT the worst part is that the case cracked when I tried to switch it to another case that does stand. Very disappointed. Figured Apple would create a sturdy case for their product :(

Blue leather iPad Air Smart Case

    • Written by from Barnhart

I am a long-time Mac user. This is my first iPad. Currently I own a Mac Pro, a Mac Book Pro, and two iPhone 5's. All have performed well above my expectations. I purchased the iPad Air Smart Case with the iPad Air at my local Target store (something I thought I would never do). So far the case, as well as the iPad Air, has performed flawlessly. The look and feel of the case are first rate. I've read all the reviews for the this case and I don't understand why they are dissatisfied. The fit of the iPad Smart Case is perfect and doesn't add a lot of bulk. The edges of the case fit tight and have a soft Microfiber texture that helps you hold the iPad. The Microfiber lining prevents the case from leaving any marks on the iPad. The back of the case has a smooth, soft texture that keeps the iPad from sliding off just about any surface. The case folds easily to the landscape position and the magnets keep it there as long as needed. I tried pushing it over and yes, you can knock it over with some effort. But under normal conditions, that shouldn't be a problem. And if it does fall over, the case will protect it, which is why I/you purchase the case to begin with. The cover wraps around to the back of the case and is held flat in place by the magnets while you hold the iPad. The color is subtle, very nice. The blue color, the soft leather and the Microfiber lining, make a very sophisticated iPad Air Smart Case. My only negative remark is in regard to the price. I think $79 is to high. I would not have purchased the case had it not been on sale for $39. Overall, very satisfied.

    iPad Air case

    • Written by from Jonesboro

The case for the iPad Air will not lock in place since it only has two folds. I would like to see a case for the Air just like the one that fits for the iPad 4. It needs to have 3 folds, not just two. I had to buy a generic one for $10.00 that had the third fold.

    iPad air case blue

    • Written by from Maple Grove

I love this case. I got it a couple days ago. I wish I got a darker color , but other than that it's a great case and really protects your iPad. When you fold it into the triangle stand it does fall, but you get you used to it, but it works most of the time, but it will fall if you don't put it in the right area. It is really soft and nice. I hope you get this case. I love apple.

$80 case from Apple... You're thinking an amazing case? Wrong! The stand is too flimsy to fully support the iPad. I find myself constantly readjusting the stand or just holding it up myself. I hope the $80 went all towards quality because functionality is poor.

iPad air smart case in blue

This case scratches very easily! The smallest or lightest scrap leaves a very obvious mark. My iPad case is now covered with scratches front and back. I have only been using this case for a few weeks less than a month and it has more scratches than anything. And the case is also super hard to take off. I bought my case from an apple store in Malaysia for RM299. For such an expensive case I would not recommend it. My first iPad's (iPad 1) case in black is even a better case

I have trouble getting the stand to work. Plus, this case compared to my boyfriend's iPad 4th gen case - his is MUCH better made. Much sturdier, and actually covers the edges. Not very content seeing as how his was $49.

not that great for what i paid for it

    • Written by from Franklin

dont get me wrong this is a great case and it protects my ipad without all the bulkiness that some cases add. However, its too delicate. if my fingernail (which are short not long) happens to slide on my case, or anything else rubs against it it leaves a scratch mark. i think that it is going to get worn out super fast because of this. i wouldnt be as disappointed if it was like half the price.

Disappointment, rough around the edges, want a store credit...

    • Written by from Rochester

I realized when I bought this case on the weekend of the iPad Air's debut that I was paying a premium to have an Apple case for my new iPad. I was expecting, though, to have a high quality case that I would not regret...most third party cases for my previous iPads were a compromise, but one I was willing to accept in exchange for paying half or a third of what the analogous Apple product would cost.

I regret this case. After a month the leather around the edge looks worn. And not in the cool loved sense of worn. I mean frayed and unclean worn. The three-panel cover doesn't allow me to stand it upright (thought it will lie nicely in the shallow-angled position quite nicely).

The blue color doesn't wear well either. It buffs to a nice patina-like shine but not without it's hare of grayish scuff marks. My biggest complaint is the frayed appearance around the edges

All in all I wish Apple would do something to make up for this disappointment. A polyurethane SmartCase in bolder colors perhaps. It won't do much to get my $79 back, but a store credit would be nice... I guess I can chalk up the $79 I paid as the price of adoption for a very mediocre case...

Flap does not work as a stand or stick to the back when open

    • Written by from Silver Spring

The main reasons I bought this are the main reasons I don't like it. Maybe it's just me, but in terms of using it as a stand (in landscape) it doesn't stay up.

Also, if you have it open the flap does not stick to the back of the case. So if you are reading a book you either have the flap hanging down or you're holding it against the back of the case. I Believe the smart cover stays against the back of the ipad if you have it open, so maybe they need to add a magnet in the back of the case so the flap stays in place when open.

It serves its purpose as a protector I guess, but for protection and functionality it fails.

BIG Regret - save your money!

    • Written by from Bristow

Aside from my liquid-cooled Power Mac that blew a leak and fried itself a month after the warranty expired, this is the WORST Apple purchase I have ever made (at least is was only $79 and not $3,000). This case is not Smart at all. I have a Smart Case for my 3rd Gen. iPad and made the mistake of expecting this one to function the same way. I was so wrong!

To give at least something positive about this case to justify the one star, I'll start with the leather; it does have a nice feel to it vs. the rubbery feel of my old Smart Case. Sadly, that is where the love ends. The cover doesn't function at all as a stand. With only three folding panels instead of four, the cover doesn't have the strength to support my Air to get a good angle for typing and doesn't stay secure enough for me to feel comfortable to use it upright. The magnet doesn't seem to have the pull to stay in place and keep the triangle shape.

Also, the cover doesn't lay flat when closed, so it doesn't always turn of my iPad. Possibly due to this same weak magnet or the way the "hinge" crease is designed. After a few drained batteries due to a misclosed cover, I had to change my auto-off settings. It's annoying and also makes the product look cheap and poorly designed.

Finally, after only a few weeks of use, there is already a crack in the corner of the case by the headphone jack - I've never even used headphones with this iPad. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise as it gives me an excuse to ditch this useless case for one that functions the way it should. Sad, as I've really come to expect more from Apple.

    I can't love this product

    • Written by from Tacoma

For this price I was pretty much expecting perfection. This is the first time I actually bought an apple brand case for my apple product. The leather feels nice and I love the blue color but that is where it stops being nice. First about the color, the blue has indeed a more seafoam, greenish tint to it, but I actually love this color way better than the blue that you see on the picture. The microfiber inside is pretty much as blue as it gets. Even though the leather feels really soft, what use is it to have that if the only thing you feel while holding it is the microfiber back of the smart cover? Which btw is not a very enjoyable feeling. The case doesn't even snap on. You just lay your ipad in it. Sure it doesn't fall out or anything, but it also makes the edges gape when holding it too close to the edge. The edges that hug your screen are also microfiber! Wth, I want those to be nice and smooth and preferably rounded, not fuzzy looking. I'll put up with it for now..but I will be shopping for a different one in the future I'm sure. If the price would have been around 35 dollars I would have been less upset.

    Is it blue or green?

    • Written by from Bainbridge Island

I like the cover, very much. The holes line perfectly, the fit and finish is very nice. I like feel and texture. I think for a full cover you can't beat it.

I took one star off because the color is described as is blue which I wanted, but to my eye, it looks more green than blue. I would call it a sea foam green. Not that, that is bad, it's just not as described. I also bought the Smart Cover in blue and love the blue color, so I kind of wish the smart case came in the same blue color as the cover.

If you like the greenish color, you will like this case.

    Great case!

I just got home with my case and new ipad air - love them both! The case has a great feel - not at all bulky but adds a nice amount of protection. The leather is nice - I am very pleased. No rough edges. A winner!
