Returned / Poor front facing aesthetics, restrictive headphone opening

    • Written by from Bluffton

The title says it all. I tried it for a day, and really wanted to like this case.

The fit is snug, and it is a bit difficult to remove the case (which is good for some people, but bad for others).

I really did not like the front facing aesthetics where the shiny metal band on the outside of the phone would peek through. Slight bends around the lip of the case just made it look uneven.

But the killer for me was the restrictive headphone opening. I switch between Bose SIE2i and QC20, and in my opinion neither has a large headphone jack, but I can't make a connection with this case.

I considered mutilating the case to allow the headphones, but then came to the decision that I didn't like the front look of the phone with this case ... so back to a cheapo case for me.

Nice try ... the back looks great ... and the feel is nice ... but I was just glad to be able to return it.

    Nice, but not so nice

    • Written by from Raleigh

The case fits perfectly. It is relatively easy to get off.
The main complaint that I have is that it gets dirty too quickly. I have the beige case and just by sliding it in my pocket, the case becomes dirty on the corners. I have never had a case do that! Unless you plan on holding your phone the whole time you have it with you, I would not recommend this case.

Headphone jack hole too small for Bose

    • Written by from BOYNTON BEACH

I use headphone with my iPhone extensively for listening to music and for talking on the phone using the microphone. I have received complaints from listeners on the other end of phone calls about the quality of the sound coming from the microphone using several models (including Apple Ear Pods.) The only headphone set that has not produced complaints has been one made by Bose for the iPhone.

If Apple would have made the hole for the headphone jack a little larger, I would keep this case. Sadly, I have to return it so I can still use the Bose set.

My iphone, covered, beatifully, for a few days at least...

    • Written by from High Wycombe

As the tagline goes, "You're covered. Beautifully." That is until you place your new-by-a-week blue leather case on a glass hotel table, not realizing there was a grease spot from someone's food and voila! My iPhone is indeed covered, beautifully, with grease-stained leather! Buyer beware' the case is harder to keep clean than your glass-and-metal iphone! And at around £35 I was not impressed with this case's ability to pick up more grease than a car mechanic!

The brown leather wears so easily. I have had this case for about a week now and I am very disappointed in the wear of it. I love the size but now it makes my phone look as if it has went through a war.

Hard to remove, keep it clean

    • Written by from Vancouver

I bought this case and loved it for a day until I found it was extremely difficult to remove the case. I was worried my phone or the case might get damaged while trying hard and in fact my iPhone became a bit curved after removing it. I had manually make the metal part straight.
This is so shame on Apple... The leather feels nice but at the cost of difficulty to removing and keeping it clean.

Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter will not fit into 5S Case

    • Written by from Okemos

With the case on the phone, it is not possible to use the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter, as the plug is TOO SHORT!

And, the case is VERY hard to remove, making it almost impossible to charge with the Adapter.

Why would Apple design a case, and not have it fit its own adapter?

Please explain the design flaw and your solution. I bought 3 adapters.

    I expected more

    • Written by from Columbia

This case doesn't feel like real leather to me, and when compared with a ten dollar case i picked up from zoogue, i just can't justify keeping the apple case. for almost 40 dollars, I expected more from Apple.

Good case but it has its issues

    • Written by from Palm Coast

Pros: It's very thin. The edges of the case on the front go past the screen just a little so the screen doesn't touch when you lay the phone down on its face. It is a hard case so it will presumably protect the phone quite well. The screen side edge doesn't overlap the screen at all, making moving icons and things a lot easier than with previous cases.

Cons: Button covers are non mechanical so it is possible that it will be difficult to put the phone to sleep or wake it up. The fit is so tight that getting the phone in and out of the case can be incredibly difficult - so much so, I'm a little worried I might scratch or hurt the phone. I'm not sure what the legal definition of "leather" is but I got the brown case and I can't confirm or deny that this is actual leather. When purchasing a leather case I expect a certain 'feel' and while this case may look a little leathery it lacks leather's tactile advantage as the case is slippery and doesn't squish or respond the way you'd expect leather to - it feels more powder coated than made of leather.

    Great look and feel but....

    • Written by from San Diego

I ordered the blue one online and as soon as I received it, I loved it. It felt great. Perfect fit. But...

    1. It is hard to remove
    2. It gets dirty very quickly
    3. The opening for the power cable didn't work for my Belkin dock
    4. The buttons didn't respond as well as I would have liked.

I returned it to the Apple store and got a refund, applied to a new AppleCare plan for my 5s.

Great case but mine keeps popping out the phone

    • Written by from Bradenton

I love it,look, feel but my phone keeps popping out. And I even tested the one the guy was using for a demo, and it got stuck in that one. It doesn't come out completely. I'm returning it ASAP. Very sad because I live and die by apple oem products.

    Not worth $40

    • Written by from Fort Worth

I bought the brown case for my 5S, and it fits great - looks awesome...but it's 1)hard to remove and 2) soaks up your hand oils quickly, changing the edges of the case to a "black" color. I bought the case 9/20...it's 9/25 and i'll be taking it back to Apple tomorrow for a refund. I had such hopes for this case!

    Beautiful case, when it's clean...

    • Written by from Lititz

This is a beautifully designed, sleek, feel-great case.

But a word of caution: the lighter colors of these cases are extremely hard to keep clean and looking nice! I've only had mine for about 5 days and it already is worn beyond belief on the edges and dirty (I have the yellow). Every few days I have to wipe it clean with a clorox wipe or a wet cloth. I had a Speck fabric case before I got my new phone and it couldn't fit, and that was easier to clean and keep nice.

I hate to admit it but I will be returning mine. It's a shame because it elevates the design and sophistication of the iphone, but with the way it gets dirty and wears, there's no way it's worth $40.

I bought the case the day I got my new iPhone 5s and at first was really happy with it until I tried to charge it in the case using the lightening to 30 pin adapter. It doesn't work! I have accessories that I use with my iPhone such as my clock radio and car navigation that have the 30 pin dock connector so I need to use the adapter with them.

    Charger won't fit

    • Written by from Forest Hills

Has anybody tried to fit the charger with the case on? I was at the apple store and tried two connectors along with the apple rep, and found that charger cables don't fit. 2 stars because the case itself is of awesome make and design.

Huge surprise but in a disappointing way.

    • Written by from Bakersfield

I have been waiting for a leather case that wraps around all the edges of the iPhone 5 for a while now. When I heard that Apple was finally releasing one on the same date as the iPhone 5s I got super excited. The excitement for the leather case was actually more than the iPhone 5s itself. When I got to the store though I was very upset. The case looks more like foam than leather. So much in fact that when I saw it I didn't believe it and was looking for the actual leather one.

My review got 2 stars instead of 1 because it does wrap around the case all the way and does hold well but it will not be replacing my leather cases that leave the edges exposed.
