    Ooops.....smack....Whew!!

    • Written by from Corpus Christi

Like a previous reviewer, I too had a "close encounter" with my iPhone 5S and a concrete floor, but the Apple case absorbed the impact quite well. Although I have to admit that I also have a Moshi screen protector, I believe that the case was the reason why my phone escaped unscathed. After reading about all of the issues regarding the lighter colored cases, I'm glad that black is my favorite pigment. Because the leather used for this case is aniline, there's not a lot one can do about cleaning scuff marks and such other than wiping it with a dampened clean cotton cloth. As for my black case, it just keeps looking and feeling better every day.

    Overpriced Dirt Magnet

    • Written by from Toronto

If you want this case you need to buy shoe polish. Sure it's thin stylish and sleek at first but not even 4 days out of the package on my new iphone, this case is already dirty I can only imagine what it would look like in a month after being in my pocket or a desk never mind putting your phone down wherever you go it will pick up all dirt. Oh yeah and good luck of you actually need it for protection. This case disentegrates on contact with the ground.

    iPhone 5S brown case...

    • Written by from islamorada

    ...embodies ambivalence, at best!

The brown case is most similar to what has been traditionally referred to as "British Tan"; it most assuredly not brown.

The snugness and texture are great; but, there are mechanical issues concerning the charger cord and port fit due to added thickness.

The leather is not sealed, so it quickly becomes indelibly soiled.

Sadly, Apple missed the mark-- the leather quality and color durability are lacking; charging is difficult due to design and compatibly of case and phone port.

    Do Not Buy!

    • Written by from Knoxville

I loved this case when I first got it. The brown looks great with the "Space Grey" 5S. It's been barely 3 weeks and now it's so dirty and the edges are fading and the leather is wearing. It looks awful! My phone is either in my pocket or on the night stand so "wear and tear" doesn't really apply. I've tried to clean it but it's not coming off. My wife got a different color and hers looks awful too. I'm returning them ASAP! Do not purchase these!

    A beautiful combination

    • Written by from Louisville

I received both my silver iPhone 5s and black aniline leather case in late September.

The combination is beautiful IMO. The case is handsome and feels warm in the hand. The combination is extremely thin. The leather of the case is wearing handsomely.

Complaining about the difficulty of removing the case is nitpicking IMO. I rarely find the need to remove the case, and it takes no more than 10 seconds to do so in any event.

I cannot speak to the durability and long-term appearance of any other color.

    Ok...

    • Written by from Tempe

I bought this product because I needed a new case for my iPhone 5s. The case fits the phone really well and looked beautiful, until about 2 days later where the leather became very dirty, it looks nothing like it did before. The side buttons all work well and I did drop my phone from waist high and the cover did what it was supposed to so I guess I'd rather deal with a dirty case than a shattered phone. Other than that it's entirely up to you.

    Very pleased...

    • Written by from Waycross

To be honest I had reservations about this case as the lip that runs around the bezel of the case was not very substantial in reviews that I watched on YouTube. After receiving the case I am so much more than pleased with it. The lip actually goes a little farther than I expected and WOW is all I can say when it comes to looks and fit. I have had an iPhone from the 4s and up and have used many cases but this BY FAR is my favorite and exclusive case now. I don't know why Apple didn't make them from the get go. The leather provides a bit of a tacky feel which is very nice in the hand it provides moderate grip with a still smooth and a bit of a tactile feel to it. The fit is needless to say like a glove, once on, the lip that raises just above the tampered edge of the phone sits about a 64th of an inch away from the metal bezel so you get a very custom fit look. The camera cut out is EXACT which, on other cases too me at least, has been the clunkier part of the 3rd party case. ALL IN ALL AN OUTSTANDING FEEL AND LOOK WITH GOOD PROTECTION! My new favorite case.

It's supposed to get a "weathered" look

    • Written by from Holly Hill

This is the exact case I was looking for. Light. Check. Sturdy. Check. Feels great in hand. Check. In reading the reviews the major complaints I see are that is is hard to remove. Solid Point. I don't remove my case very much at all so I see it as a positive, but if you do swap it out a lot, it is an issue.

The other point is that it shows signed of aging too quickly. Of course it does. It says so right on the packaging. I'm actually looking forward to my case getting a nice weathered look like a favorite wallet. To each their own

This is a truly awesome case with a slight problem.

    • Written by from New York

First off, I truly live this case. It's definitely the best case I've ever had on an iPhone because it not only protects but it's also slim and very attractive. The only problem I see with it is that the leather doesn't seem to be sealed. This causes your case to get dirty and dingy VERY VERY easily specially if you're wearing blue denim and you like to slide your phone into your pockets. I'm on my second one because within 3 days of owning the first one it was already looking like I had owned it for a year! It picked up as much blue dye and little particles as it possibly could making it look completely disgusting. For the second case I had to get myself a leather sealer and applied 3 coats of it to the new case right out of the package and it truly made a difference, now the case doesn't pick anything up and the color stays looking clean and beautiful. I'm not sure why apple didn't seal the leather themselves because that would have made it a lot simpler for all of us.

    So many problems

    • Written by from Schwenksville

I am surprised and disappointed in the execution of this case. First of all, FORGET about getting a color other than black, unless you like a dirty-looking case. Even the brown had blue jean stains and fingerprint stains on it within 2 days, and I am a tidy, OCD type female. The leather is so matte and absorbent and fragile that it absorbs any and every thing in its environment, and it tears so easily. Don't put it in your jeans pocket, or near anything sharp. The case does fit very well, provides a non-slip surface, and protects the corners, so I give it 2 stars for that.

In the end, I am not giving it 2 stars because it gets dirty. Buyer beware, and some folks don't care about that. I am giving it 2 stars because it cripples the phone!!! I have tried no less than 4 different adapters, and nothing will fit in the bottom of the case except Apple's lighting power cord. If you have a car that uses USB (which you do, because no manufacturer has transitioned to lightning) you will not be able to charge your phone or play music unless you take the darn case off. And it ain't easy to take off.

Third, and this is major.....your headset jack may not work properly I have ultimate ears headphones with a standard 3.5mm jack, and because the leather case has such a TINY opening, and because the leather is on the thick side, it won't plug quite the whole way in. It plugs in enough to play music, but it's slightly out and the headset controls (pause, play, volume up/down, answer call) will not work!!) I almost called Ultimate ears to request a replacement because I thought my headphones were broken, until I plugged them into my computer and they worked fine. I took a look at the bottom of my iPhone and realized it wouldn't plug in the whole way because of the case.

This case is WAY overpriced. It's thin and flimsy, with a very thin covering of tissue-paper like leather that picks up every stain possible. But it is inexcusable to me that Apple would design a case that doesn't work with a variety of headphones, and that doesn't work with any adapter, even their OWN!! Particularly when they just changed the form factor a year ago and there are so many devices and vehicles that use USB. I feel this is a sign of poor design to come...

Well that, and the release of the new Pages and Maverick.

For a very spesific selection of users.

    • Written by from Istanbul

I like to use my Apple products with Apple accessories therefore I bought this case yesterday and I'm using ever since. First impressions: It fits your iPhone 5&5s perfectly and If you ONLY use Apple earpods and stock lightning cable they also fit in nicely but for other products like docks etc. even Apple's own products are not competible. But for someone like me who doesnt use any other products and docks It is usefull and the leather is really quality made but if you use lighter colors prepare to dirt marks thats why I bought black one. I am really happy with it.

It's an okay case and it looks good with the phone but I've only had it for a week and a half and it's already wearing and tearing. For the price I paid for it, it wasn't worth it.

Does the job, wears quickly, very overpriced

    • Written by from Chicago

I recall the days of the 4 and 4S and Apple made bumpers designed for the phones. Perfect! This year I was excited to see the same thing. However, it's been 10 days and my brown leather Apple case that cost over $40 incl. tax is showing extensive signs of wear, mainly from being in and out of a pocket. It looks quite dirty now, and though it's protected the phone from a small fall, the buttons aren't clicking as well anymore, and the leather is starting to peel away which looks terrible. Thankfully I bought it at Verizon, so I'll return it for a refund.

    Ignore the bad reviews

    • Written by from Homewood

Do you like your phone to have a sleek and classy look? If you do, you will love the new leather case in BLACK. I've owned dozens of cases and this one is by far the best one that I've ever owned. If you don't like it you can take it back. Apple will allow you to exchange if you aren't happy, but I promise you will love it. Why put a cheap, plastic, rubber, ugly case on a $700 phone? It feels great, looks even better, and from what I've seen, it protects the phone as it is intended to do.

If you have OCD and cannot stand for something to get a spot of dirt, I would suggest you get black. I can only laugh at the reviews that complain about this case getting dirty. Did these people really believe that something light colored and leather would not get dirty? Have they ever heard of wiping something clean with a slightly damp wash cloth?? Good grief some people will b!tzh, moan, and complain about anything

Looks great but really annoying that you have to remove the case when you want to put it in a dock or connect to a speaker. Really though apple would have thought it through better. Disappointed!
