    Do Not Buy!

    • Written by from Knoxville

I loved this case when I first got it. The brown looks great with the "Space Grey" 5S. It's been barely 3 weeks and now it's so dirty and the edges are fading and the leather is wearing. It looks awful! My phone is either in my pocket or on the night stand so "wear and tear" doesn't really apply. I've tried to clean it but it's not coming off. My wife got a different color and hers looks awful too. I'm returning them ASAP! Do not purchase these!

Wish I could keep it but it's just not practical

    • Written by from Auckland

    1. Using the sleep button on the top of the case seems to be quite the battle!
    2. Getting the phone in and out of the case took the good part of 2-3 minutes.
    3. Couldn't use the Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter from my AUX cable in my car with this case! So that meant Apple created a case for their own product, that couldn't match with their simple adapter, that I paid almost $50NZ for.
    4. The headphone jack. Well... Simply put, unless you use the iPhone headphones, it's game over. No other headphones I tried fit.
All in all, for $59.00NZ, I felt I was ripped off, so today I phoned apple and got a full refund.
In the end, I'm happy I at least gave it a go, and yes, I still love Apple, but guys, please recall these cases and redesign them!

    Looks Great....At First

    • Written by from Yale

Nice Case. Holds tight to iPhone. Nice, soft interior to protect iPhone from scratches. BUT Only looks good for about One Week before the case turns to dark brown from normal handling! Will look dirty for the rest of it's lifetime. Grime is Impossible to clean from leather! Not Impressed how fast it looked OLD AND DIRTY!! (so much for my $40!) Will not buy again.

Nice Case, but only works with apple headphones

    • Written by from Østerås

Overall the case looks nice. There are some small fails with the leather that I wouldn't excpect to see in an Apple product. But the biggest problem is that only works with apple head-phone jack (back to iPhone 1).

Don't get anything but black- colors get dirty quickly

    • Written by from Calgary

I bought the Red version as I love red. After a couple weeks I noticed the backside getting black (especially the edges). I am a neat freak and clean my hands all the time. The leather is nice if you don't touch it. Not sure if putting a leather protectant on it would help either. For me, it's too late, you can't even clean the case as the color will come off but not the dirt. Not sure if all leather cases regardless of it being Apple made will be any different. Very dissapointed- hopefully it is something this is covered under my iPhone AppleCare warranty. Going for black the next time.

    Beautiful case but doesn't last

    • Written by from San Jose

I was very excited about the new 5S case when it first came out because it is one of the rare beautiful and classy case I've seen in a while. I got the beige one despite my husband warning me it will get dirty very quickly. Well, he was right. But not only that, the leather on all corners and edges of the case also started wearing out and loosing color after just one month of normal usage. Knowing that a smart phone is heavily used by any user on a day to day basis, Apple should make something more sturdy than this.

    Nice design, Horrible function

    • Written by from Murray

Why on Earth would Apple custom design an awesome case to fit the new 5s yet give it limits because of case design? The case is awesome until you try to plug anything into the bottom of it.
When the case is on the phone:
It will not dock onto anything.
Cannot accept 30 pin to lightning adapter.
Some headphones will not snap in all the way.
    Sound is dampened on speakerphone.
Apple certainly blew it with this one. Stupid design. Need to open the bottom.

    Very good looking case but..

    • Written by from Mississauga

So i bought the brown leather case for my gold iPhone 5s and it looks really good together but when taking it out, its pretty hard to remove and leather would tear/rip from the case when removing. I dropped my phone from about 4 ft on the screen side my phone had no dents but my phone came off the case during impact and scuffed the bottom corner chamfered edge of my phone. I was so mad that it happened and also another thing when the phone came out of the case the edge of the phone scraped a tiny piece of the leather off. Luckily you can't really notice the scuff on the chamfered edge but still that shouldnt happen.

Another thing about this case is the cost. I payed $50 including the tax and thats the most expensive case I've bought. I really liked the look of the case and thats what made me buy it but for something thats so delicate its not really worth it. Basically if you drop the case with your phone in it, chances are that the case will have a scuff thats very noticeable.

    So many problems

    • Written by from Schwenksville

I am surprised and disappointed in the execution of this case. First of all, FORGET about getting a color other than black, unless you like a dirty-looking case. Even the brown had blue jean stains and fingerprint stains on it within 2 days, and I am a tidy, OCD type female. The leather is so matte and absorbent and fragile that it absorbs any and every thing in its environment, and it tears so easily. Don't put it in your jeans pocket, or near anything sharp. The case does fit very well, provides a non-slip surface, and protects the corners, so I give it 2 stars for that.

In the end, I am not giving it 2 stars because it gets dirty. Buyer beware, and some folks don't care about that. I am giving it 2 stars because it cripples the phone!!! I have tried no less than 4 different adapters, and nothing will fit in the bottom of the case except Apple's lighting power cord. If you have a car that uses USB (which you do, because no manufacturer has transitioned to lightning) you will not be able to charge your phone or play music unless you take the darn case off. And it ain't easy to take off.

Third, and this is major.....your headset jack may not work properly I have ultimate ears headphones with a standard 3.5mm jack, and because the leather case has such a TINY opening, and because the leather is on the thick side, it won't plug quite the whole way in. It plugs in enough to play music, but it's slightly out and the headset controls (pause, play, volume up/down, answer call) will not work!!) I almost called Ultimate ears to request a replacement because I thought my headphones were broken, until I plugged them into my computer and they worked fine. I took a look at the bottom of my iPhone and realized it wouldn't plug in the whole way because of the case.

This case is WAY overpriced. It's thin and flimsy, with a very thin covering of tissue-paper like leather that picks up every stain possible. But it is inexcusable to me that Apple would design a case that doesn't work with a variety of headphones, and that doesn't work with any adapter, even their OWN!! Particularly when they just changed the form factor a year ago and there are so many devices and vehicles that use USB. I feel this is a sign of poor design to come...

Well that, and the release of the new Pages and Maverick.

It's an okay case and it looks good with the phone but I've only had it for a week and a half and it's already wearing and tearing. For the price I paid for it, it wasn't worth it.

Does the job, wears quickly, very overpriced

    • Written by from Chicago

I recall the days of the 4 and 4S and Apple made bumpers designed for the phones. Perfect! This year I was excited to see the same thing. However, it's been 10 days and my brown leather Apple case that cost over $40 incl. tax is showing extensive signs of wear, mainly from being in and out of a pocket. It looks quite dirty now, and though it's protected the phone from a small fall, the buttons aren't clicking as well anymore, and the leather is starting to peel away which looks terrible. Thankfully I bought it at Verizon, so I'll return it for a refund.

I bought the Red one, very nice case other than the fact it gets dirty easy (or shows the dirt I should say) and wont clean off....looks grubby, and I am not a person to subject my phone to dirty conditions etc....

not as good as I imagine

    • Written by from Carlsbad

Have it in red, It is really nice the color, the grip and texture but it's hard to take it off and the more important is that it's hard to keep it clean, only 5 days using it and the edges are grey because holding it. I expected more than what it is for the price.

    Awesome, but does not last

    • Written by from Chuluota

Awesome design of the case, feels great and it protects the phone perfectly. However if you do drop your phone, the phone will be fine, but it will take a chunk out of the leather. I have had mine for a month and I have a corner of the case missing from the one time I dropped it.

Bose headphones don't fit with cover on!

    • Written by from SAN RAMON

Liked this case until I tried to plug in headphones. Hole in case for headphone isn't large enough to permit full connection of headphones to headphone jack!
Guess if I never plan to use headphones the case is nice. Not happy :(

It's great for a few days...

    • Written by from West Hartford

I've had my case for about 2 weeks now. It looks like I've had it for a year. I loved the case when I first got it - looks great, feels great, fits great. But it wears like none other, one day in the jeans and it got stained blue. Picks up scuffs and dirt VERY easily (just from putting it in and out of your pocket). It will make your brand new sparkling 5s look worn and dirty, and you know you got that thing to show off, so unfortunately, don't buy this case. Wish I could return it.

    Great Look, Bad Quality

    • Written by from Andover

I bought this case and I loved how it looked and felt much more than any hard case. After a week, though, the material started wearing away just from removing it from my pocket. I didn't want to, but I returned it and replaced it with a Speck case, which I don't like as much design wise. It just wasn't worth $40 for a case that was not going to last long at all
