    Everything you can ask for!

I purchased this rougher due to the reliability issues I was having with my old one. I have had it for about a week now and am simply amazed at how much better this one is. The range coverage I am getting is almost twice as good as the old one. I also am averaging a speed thru the router 4-5mpbs faster than the old. This router is definitely worth the cost!

    Excellent

I have used many different WiFi routers over the years, including custom open-source versions, but this device beats them all in terms of ease-of-use and functionality. I have installed two AirPort Time Capsules so far and they have been flawless, both as WiFi access points and TimeMachine disks, for several months of 24x7 operation. The beam steering antennas provide outstanding range with no drop-outs. They provide solid performance for several Macs, Windows laptops, Android tablets and smartphones. Excellent value.

Perfect in Every Way!! Can't Say Enough!!!!

I could honestly go on and on about this product. My internet provider had given me a wireless gateway which was supposed to be a wireless N router with all the latest features, and it was horrible - slow speeds, poor wireless signal, and constant problems with things like Air Play. So, I went back to using a four year old Time Capsule which drastically improved speeds and instantly solved the Air Play problems. Then, I decided to purchase a new Time Capsule. The positive experiences began with the physical look and design of the unit and continued from there. This Time Capsule literally doubled my internet speed, now actually giving me the speed I'm paying for - yes even wirelessly. Wi-Fi range has been improved to be even more impressive - even without any 802.11 AC devices on my network. Back-ups with Time Machine are fabulous also. I did an initial back-up of almost 400 GB in around six hours - wirelessly! Yesterday we were streaming a TV show on Apple TV while my daughter streamed a show on her iPad. At the same time, we were performing an initial wireless back-up and streaming music via Air Play in another room, and everything worked perfectly. I would have been confident to make a FaceTime call or anything else on top of that too. Now obviously as you can tell, we have a very fast internet connection - over 100 MBPS, but still we never realized those speeds over Wi-Fi until getting this new Time Capsule. This and the Airport Extreme are the only routers I ever recommend to people. I exchanged my internet provider's gateway for a non-Wi-Fi device and I couldn't be happier! Love it!:)

I honestly couldn't believe how fast my internet became after purchasing the Airport Time Capsule and then it looks so sleek and beautiful in design sitting in my living room waiting for me to store data. I absolutely love it.

    Great performance

I have purchased about a month ago to sync all of my apple products at Home. Wifi speed went up almost 10 times faster than regular router from cable company. Moreover, I have been using time capsule not only back up drive, but also home files sharing for all of music, movies, and doc. Time capsule brought much more options than what I expected. Strongly recommend.

    Fantastic

Replaced older 3 TB time capsule, fantastic device. It was painless to setup and configure as most things are from Apple. Since it has just been setup last night and my imac did a full backup it seems to me to be faster and stable - but only one day old.

Not Very Impressed... Slow to Backup on Snow Leopard

    • Written by from Beavercreek

I spent the extra $100 to get the latest and now wish I went with the older (and cheaper) tried and true. Setup was ok, although confusing at times particulary when a screen shared auto configuration with blanks for manual settings and no clear header saying those blanks were for manual configuration. The instructions on that screen also read more like they were written for a computer programmer rather than an end user. That all being said, the real disappointment is the slow, slow, slow backup speed So far it's taken 2 hours to backup 75GB. And it seems to take 2-5 minutes to startup. What's with that? The Apple rep told me this was the latest and greatest and it is the future, but honestly it's at least five times slower than what it's replacing. Maybe it will get better after the first backup, I don't know, but right out of the box it's a disappointment for backup. The Wi-Fi seems to work good, but that's not really the main reason why I bought it. Remember, Time Machine backs up every hour and at that slow speed it's going to be running into itself If I add more than 40GB of data.

    excellent but not perfect

    • Written by from Makkah

the device is excellent, i have tested with my new macbook air with ac wifi. the back up speed is amazingly fast, even faster than USB external drives.
the issue is that you can not access the file from the net. so i need to buy another WD book live duo only for the net access to the photo and movie files that i have.
apple should really consider the net access to the files

I had a top of the line Linksys router before I upgraded. It would get chocked up, and it would reduce my bandwidth to a crawl if I had more than a few devices on the network. The Airport Time Capsule gives me amazing speed, even with over 20 devices connected!

Great Range, super easy to set up...

I tried FOUR different routers to replace my 500gig time capsule to get a better signal. No luck. I was about to settle for the n spec dark knight, when this week, BANG a new TC. I'll try it, I thought and I'm glad I did. Better range, no dead spots and 2 tb backup for $299 instead of separate router and hd for $280. Thanks again Apple.

Signal strength is just amazing and speed ..i love my iPhone, Macbook Pro & iPad more, it has boosts their performance as well. All apple family.
Apple products are space age technology and you are missing if you dont own this or any of their products.

    Excellent Router and Back-Up

    • Written by from Harvest

Great and simple user experience. Plug it in, select it on your computer, assign password, done. Even though it was big (200+ Gigs) first back up over wi-fi, that went seamlessly in approx. four hours.

Time Capsule saves me data on my cell phone carrier: Previously my kids on the other end of the house would lose the wi-fi signal and their phones would revert to cellular data. With the AirPort time Capsule they now get 3 or 4 bars and wi-fi is never dropped. Download speeds are fine, have not even bothered hard wiring the unit to my 5K Retina iMac as originally planned.

    Digital Saver!!

    • Written by from GATINEAU

I love this router. My signal has become more stable and stronger. I now have access to my Wi-Fi everywhere in the house. The time capsule is working seamlessly and I couldn't be happier. Is it expensive? Yes however the payoff has been well worth it.

    Awesome time capsule

    • Written by from Orlando

I was scared to death when my iMac was stolen (house break-in) and it was time to see if the Airport Time Capsule had indeed captured all my data. It worked!!!! even my desktop information was there. The folks at Applecare guided me through the restoration (which was simple) I would recommend this product without a doubt. It is also your wi-fi. To connect the wi-fi, they had me disconnect from my cable provider and the wi-fi comes through the capsule. (I simply called the cable company and they were familiar with the process and disconnected it).

Best router in general but with the extra storage, Backup savior.

    • Written by from Shelter Island

Title says it all. When I first purchased it it came with a dead Ethernet port on the back. Didn't really need it but I wanted to get it fixed. Months went by and scheduled an appointment at an Apple store near by and they gave me a whole new one. Was out in 5 minuets. Couldn't of had better service.

Great speed and functionality however decreased range

    • Written by from North Adelaide

I bought the ATC mainly for the additional backup and was pleased to see that it boasts good range, speed along with the 2tb of available backup. Works great have been able to access TC with all machines and the wireless speed is up on my previous router however we live in a double brick apartment and the range compared to my old Dlink DIR618 is questionable. I have needed to add an AP Express as an extender so we are able to get access in the bedrooms of the apartment.

Overall great product but disappointed that the range is not up to what is advertised.

    Unreliable. Slow.

    • Written by from Fort Lee

Small wired and wireless environment of 8 desktops (iMacs ands Mac Minis) and 8 laptops (MacBook Pros and Macbook Airs). Clean reliable AC power to all computers and devices backed up by a huge battery bank.
Apple TimeCapsule requires frequent reboots. Gets warm.
    Made some improvements.
    Cooler environment.
Used a external WiFi, turned off internal WiFi.
Attached a external HDD. Did not use internal HDD.
Used a external router for network and Internet traffic.
Still required rebooting due to it not being recognized at times.
The storage is never visible outside the local LAN. Even DMZing the device failed to make it discoverable from outside the LAN. Gave up on that feature.
    No local encryption feature.

    Conclusion:
Not fit for a business environment, too slow, too unreliable, not secure.
A Mac Mini server would be better at all those things, however much more expensive and the WiFi antenna is poor.
To setup a workable Time Machine for a Apple environment is a bit messy and expensive.
No solution for Macs yet for easy, fast and reliable backups.

Amazing range and speed increase over old Airport X

    • Written by from Clackamas

I purchased the 3TB version ahead of purchasing my new Mac Pro this month. I wasn't expecting such a range and speed boost as I'm still only using the "n" technology in my devices. The third story of my home was always a slow connection and was an issue with streaming TV content through my Apple TV. Now I get full strength and over 20 Meg's per second instead of 3-4. Great Job Jony and team ID!
