    To hard!

    • Written by from Atlanta

The Apple earpod sound is incredible, however the Plastic My is uncomfortable. I suggest Apple to keep the design & make it a little more flexible, add a silicon layer. the plastic is simply dated, It's just to hard.

    still don't fit my ears

I was hoping new design would stay in my ears but no luck on that front. They continually fall out especially when walking or exercising.

    Great quality, painful to use

    • Written by from San Antonio

I bought the EarPods for my mom around Christmas to replace her old pair from her Ipod. She started to complain that her ears hurt from the design of the earpiece so I decided to try them for a week.

We both agree the sound quality is much better than the old earphones. The EarPods stay in place MUCH better than the old earphones when walking and jogging, but after a while, reinsertion of the earpiece into the ear hurts! It seems to be more painful in my right ear than the left. I may have small ears but for spending $30 on a new pair of earphones, it is disappointing that I cannot be fully satisfied with my purchase.

I have a Macbook, Ipod Touch and old Nano and I have always been an extremely satisfied customer of Apple products, but the EarPods have been a big disappointment.

Not What I Was Expecting At ALL

    • Written by

The sound quality is amazing but they keep on falling out of my ears when im lying down, sitting, or even when im watching a funny video and i start smiling. Also they always hurt my ears and sometimes I cant believe I paid $35.00 for them when I probably shouldve only paid at most $15.00- $20.00.
Based on sound quality, I like these ones better.
Based on fit and comfort, I like the old ones WAY better!

    Good sounds quality, TERRIBLE fit

    • Written by from Highlands Ranch

I was actually impressed with the sound of these headphone...that is until they continually fell out of my ears. Slight, gloss white headphones that simply sit in your ear. As soon as I move my head, neck, legs or big toe, they fall out of my ears.

These can't be the best Apple can produce. They are going back tomorrow!

    Bad Fit, but Good Sound

    • Written by from Angola

They do have a better sound but they are super hard to insert into my ear, compared to the earbuds. I feel that they are too big for my ear because they make my ears sore after only a few minutes of wearing them. 2 Stars because I feel the fit is the most important part.

Good sound, terrible build quality/plug wiring

    • Written by from Toronto

I just destroyed my 2nd pair in 2 months. The sound is great for the price (my other headphones are Westone UM2s, so I expected much less from these), but the jack plug is flimsy and unprotected. With both pairs, the controls stopped working quickly, and then the right ear started cutting out. Wiggling the cable demonstrates the issue is in the plug.

No doubt the correct Apple approved response to 2 sets of broken headphones is to get hip surgery so the action of walking doesn't cramp the top of my iPhone in a design-incompatible way. I accept that Apple can't be held responsible for humans being the wrong shape for their products, but I think maybe others who also can't afford the elective surgery might benefit from my words of warning: if you buy these, remain perfectly motionless at all times whilst using them.

Good sound, lousy (loosey fit), short cable

    • Written by from Hilo

    The Good:
Sound is much improved over the previous version of the included headset, especially the mids and bass. Because of the sort-of ergonomic design you must put the left earbud into the left ear and the right into the right ear.

    The Bad:
The earbuds tend to be easily pulled out of the ear, they may even fall out on their own for some people as the fit feels very loose on me and the hard plastic is smooth with no grip to stay in.

Once again the cable is too short. It's the same length of the previous earbuds that came with the iPhone 4/4s. Apple needs to stop being cheap and make them at least six inches longer so they don't yank out of the ears when put into pants/shorts pockets. Other earbuds I buy are at least a six to 10 inches longer.

Packaging is sub-par Apple standards. Is difficult to open without a knife, seems wasteful with the kind of stiff clear plastic that wants to cut your fingers with sharp edges. Would have been nicer to just have a paper box to hold the product. So much for the famous Apple product packaging beta-testing team.

    The Neutral
The volume/mic control has moved to the right side instead of the left.

Even after all of these years, Apple fails to make usable headphones

    • Written by from Forest Hills

Don't get me wrong, these stay in slightly longer than the older, non-pod models - by about a few seconds when I'm running, for instance.

But groping for your headphones every few seconds and having your iPod Shuffle fall to the ground because they were pulled down by idiotic headphones that just wouldn't stay in, is not what I would call an amazing, audiogasmic experience.

Oh, by the way, the sound quality still needs a lot of work. And I mean a lot. Still tinny and pretty much rubbish.

Probably almost everyone rating these headphones 4+ stars either works for Apple or has never tried a decent pair of $20+ canalphones before.

Most ill-fitting Apple headphones so far

    • Written by from Charlotte

When I read that these were made to fit extremely well, I was very excited. But my hopes were disappointed, never did I have headphones that fall out of the ears more easily. Believe what others said about this. They are slippery and with one-size-fits-all, how could they fit well? Compare that to Apple's in-ear headphones, they come with three different earpieces!

The sound is great AS LONG as they are deep and snug in your ear. But that usually only lasts for seconds and then they are loose again and sound worse than most other headphones.

    Left-Handed.

    • Written by from San Antonio

I love apple and all their products. I just bought these headphone and they are great except one thing. I am left handed and do everything with my left side. So logically when I use my headphones I switch the ears because of the mic. Though with the EarPods you can't do that. So I came online to see if apple had a pair for left handed people like me who do this. Though sadly they don't, which I can understand due to the fact that most of the population is right handed. Apple, it would be amazing if you came out with EarPods with a mic on the left side.

    Design doesn't work for everyone

    • Written by from New York

I was excited to see Apple upgrading the old earbuds. Unfortunately, the new design does not work for everyone. These fall out of my ear easier than any headphones I've ever used. Walking, talking, turning my head, eating an apple.... any of these actions will cause one or both of the buds to fall out. It's incredibly frustrating and has made these unusable for me.

The sound may be marginally better than the previous earbuds (emphasis on marginally), but these are still a long way from being premium headphones. If you buy an iPhone 5/iPod and receive them as an accessory, try them out and hopefully they'll work for you. Otherwise, I can't recommend buying these based on the design or sound quality.

    Won't stay in the ear

    • Written by from honolulu

So I read the reviews and it "looked" like Apple did research to optimize the fit of these new earphones. Well NO earbuds ever fit in my ear so when I got these I thought I would give Apple the benefit of their research.

FYI - this is not a review of sound quality...that is great

So first day I thought they were really good. But they just seemed to sit on my ear. Almost so loose that I could hear everything around me like I didn't have earphones in. Within the first five minutes the suckers were falling out and would not stay in. Mind you this is sitting at a desk not even moving around. Tried pushing them in for a tight fit and it did not help. Nothing I do will keep them in my ear so these are useless to me.

So I'm rating this a 2 since I know my ears don't fit any earbud type headphones except for the Koss isparks. I would have rated it a 1 except for the fact that I think half of it is my problem.

    My ear pods doesn't ears!

    • Written by from Edmonton

Ok for the love of God when will Apple make earphones (EarPods) that actually stay in your ears! I mean really, come on!

I was hopeful and the sound is amazing, they look very cool, but then I took two steps forward and yep you guessed it, they fall out! I bicycle everywhere and like to listen to music while I ride (on low volume, so don't freak) , but if they fall out all the time that will be annoying!

My advice is that if you are mostly going to sit and listen to music these earphones (EarPods) are a very good value for your money, but if you like to walk more than one step at a time, don't bother you will be putting them back in your ears so much that it will take to an hour just to walk to the end of the block.

These would be great headphones if they did not literally fall out of my ears the moment I touch the remote control in the slightest.

I look forward to the day when Apple actually designs headphones for actual human ears.
