    Nice sound, bad comfort

    • Written by from Cortlandt Manor

The sound that comes out of these phone is pretty good, certainly not as good as the professional phones I used on my job but my audio monitoring earphones cost ten times more. My big complaint is comfort and retention. The Apple EarPods are uncomfortable and fall out of my ears with the slightest head movement. A true audiophile will scrap these phones immediately, or better yet, give them to a friend with an old iPod. Then get a pair of mid priced over the ear headphones. They will sound better, block external noise better, and will stay put. The earphones Sony used to supply with the old Walkman are an adequate substitute for the EarPods.

    Just won't stay in.

    • Written by from Clemmons

The sound on these earbuds is definitely much better than it was on the older model but they simply will not stay in my ears. I read where people say they can exercise without them falling out and I guess they are just lucky because the slightest move causes them to drop right out of my ears. I can't even eat anything while wearing them because the movement of my jaw will cause them to drop. I wish they would work for me but I'm going to have to return them for something else. I give them 3 stars only for the improved sound quality.

Sound quality HUGE upgrade, unfortunately so is the size!

    • Written by from San Diego

The old iphone/ipod ear buds BARELY fit in my ears. I could only use them for about 30 minutes before my ears started throbbing. ugh. but these are like TWICE as big/thick. I can't even fit them in my ear so they kinda just rest right there. I have to have the volume turned way up because they don't fit right. The sound quality is much better from the old ones. I'm just annoyed that I can still hear noises around me with these. I can tell that ergonomically they would be amazing if I could put them in my ear properly. I just wish they made multiple sizes as these are literally jumbo sized.

    Left Ear Stopped Working!

    • Written by from Arcata

I bought these about a month ago and was super impressed with the sound quality. It fit great in my ears, but then one day the left ear stopped working. I noticed I had to wiggle the end to make it sound, but I would have to hold it.

I want to like these, I really do, but I just can't wear them.

    • Written by from Alexandria

I just purchased these last week. I use earbuds every single day, several hours a day with no problems. But I can't comfortably wear these even for two minutes. I love the look of the design and it seems like it would be an improvement over the old round flat apple earbuds or the more expensive in-ear set with removable buds but I cannot wear them. For my right ear, they fit perfectly - comfortable, with good sound quality - but my left ear is another story. The tiniest bit different shape of the cartilage at the entrance to my ear canal - this is all assumption as my ears don't look any different and are not in anyway freakishly shaped :) - but the slightest difference makes these earbuds unusable. I wear them for just a few minutes and my ear begins to ache - not inside, but outside right at the tip when my cartilage is pressed against the earpiece. I have tried turning the earbuds, pushing them in further, pulling them out further but nothing works. So as much as I hate to say it - be warned. These might not work for you.

    Break easily

    • Written by from Saint Louis

The headphones work well and I like them. I dropped my headphones on tile floor while the were in my phone. The headphone jack was stuck in the phone and I had to pry it out with tweezers! They are $30 to replace and I don't feel like paying that much to replace headphones that are going to break again.

    Do not fit my ears

    • Written by from Claremont

They sound great unfortunately as is the case for many reviewers they never stay in the correct position for optimal sound and they fall out completely quite easily. I'd rate them as two stars for me, four stars for people who can get a good fit so average to three stars. These are frankly quite a disappointment. Some kind of rubberized texture would have improved average fit immensely, Apple totally ignored function for style on this one.

    Perfect sound & Low quality

    • Written by from Belgrade

The headphones have a very good, you might say, and perfect the sound. However, the quality is sub-standard, especially for Apple. Headphones do not work, but after 3 weeks of careful use. I've already bought 3 pairs and not one I have not used for more than a month...

    sound great but very uncomfortable

    • Written by from Erie

The sound on these are really good, especially compared to the old apple headphones. I also really like the remote. The main downfall though is comfort. After about 15 min my ears are killing me.

Sound is great but I can't get them to work with my iPad 3 WiFi

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

I've had 2 set and have the same problem; the ear buds only pickup 1 channel. I don't know which channel but the stereo sound stage collapses into a kind of out of phase mono. Most notable is the over abundance of out-of-phase information; mostly reverb-like sound with the vocals echoing a mile away. Both my Monster Pro and Ultimate Ears ear buds sound great.

I lone the fit as me UE ear "speakers" have never fit well. Also there are countless times I don't want to clamp on my Monster head phones (like watching video) my best guess is that the earphone jack is the blame but it plays beautifully thorough my other sets. If anyone has ideas, I'm "all ears." Thanks for reading this.

    Don't work for me

    • Written by from Landenberg

I'm sure they are fine. I'd never purchase apple earphones independently. But they are a nice touch with the devices.
The new apple ear pods don't fit my ears at all. They fall right out. My ears typically require an in ear speaker. These, like many don't work at all for me.

3 stars because they are overpriced and there design eliminates possibilities for people like me. I think the in ear style they sell would be a better more rounded option for all users.

mic portion for phone calls not so good

    • Written by from Columbia

If you only use these for listening to music then you are all set. The sound quality is amazing.

The main thing I attempted to use them for is talking on the iPhone 5. While in the car on the interstate, these EarPods/Mic cut off every 3rd syllable or so of the person with whom I am trying to have a conversation. I speculate that the noise from the car and interstate interfere with the proper functioning of the microphone.

    Sounds great but hurts!

    • Written by from PLEASANT HILL

The sound quality of the new earpods is outstanding. I'm very pleased with that portion of them but they seriously hurt my ears. Specifically I can't wear the right one longer than 10-15 minutes. Kinda disappointed.

Ther're great, if you can keep them in your ears.

    • Written by from Naperville

I love the way they feel in my ears and the sound quality, but it is super annoying that they won't stay in. They would be a lot better if they had some sort of antislip rubberization on them to provide some friction.

I would have given them 5 stars if I didn't have to consitently keep pushing them back in. What good are they if they keep falling out? I've actually reverted back to my old headphones.
