    Buying my third one :(

    • Written by from Colinton

I am so annoyed to be spending so much money on something that I know will break. This will be my third one!

Apple - Why haven't you fixed the issues with these?

    • Written by from Olympia

There are so many one stars on this product, and all for the same reason! Charger doesn't last and gets extremely hot and is ridiculously expensive (esp. given all the complaints). These chargers have a life span of months to a year, both my partner and I have had to replace chargers and the newest ones we have, after only about 8 months, are crapping out on us. The rubber is just falling apart and the wires underneath are fraying out, they make weird sounds when connected, you have to move them to make sure they even work, plus they get extremely hot - and these were treated delicately after so many failures before. It seems like Apple is taking advantage of us! Why haven't these been changed and where is the customer service? This is pretty appalling.

    These charging very often break!

    • Written by from Arlington

My charging too broke. I love apple products, but this charge does not really so good. I do not want every time to pay $ 80 for this product, it is expensive for this quality.

    Awful

    • Written by from Palatine

Fell apart after a year of minimal use. Exposed wires, the whole thing. Even worse than the old T-shaped ones. At least that one lasted for 3 years before falling apart.

    60W MagSafe Power Adapter broke

    • Written by from Hidalgo

After 2 years of use the cord broke internally just at the adapter. This part should be more flexible and resistant as it receives a lot of "bending".
Apple should review the design and produce a better model suited with the laptop design and durability.

Making me consider not getting a mac next

    • Written by from williamsville

Look, apple, I get that you make money when people need to replace their charger, but you are asking too much of us. These things do not hold up AT ALL. I can't afford to shell out about 70 dollars each time to replace my charger. It's a shame, because I like my macbook Pro, but next time I need to replace my computer, the charger issue may make me go with a different computer brand altogether.

    Designed to Fail

    • Written by from Victoria

Everyone I know has used electrical tape and everything to keep the wires on their power supply from breaking. The insulation splits and opens up exposing the wires. Probably a fire risk and certainly soon to fail completely. This never happened after years of bag packing Dells and other laptops. This might be expected after a year or two but not within months with machines hardly moved. This is very bad design and just thickening and tapering the rubber would work to ensure a much longer life. This might cost less than a dollar. Shame on Apple for allowing their customers down when we expect only the best in design from Apple. I have resorted to adding a piece of flexible irrigation (drip) tubing over the attachment point to keep the wire from dangerous flexing.

    Deeply disappointed

    • Written by from Stafford

I have the 13-inch 2008 MacBook. I had the T-shaped Power Adapter and worked for four years! Then suddenly, it got a little worn down and quit working. I thought, "Okay, this is kind of old. I can see why it stopped working." So I pulled money and bought a new pretty L shaped Power Adapter. Three months later--broken. Wiggling it won't even help. I am a university student with papers to write, two online classes, and now I have a Skype interview for a teaching position...with no computer. I can't just fish $80 from my crack to pay for a new one that may or may not work. I am so angry right now because I am using a local library's computer and having to choose between using this computer for my school (inconvenience) or buying an expensive adapter that probably will fail too! Ugh!!

A new year, a new power cord

    • Written by from Brighton

I got my Macbook in 2010. Since then, I have already replaced my power cord two times and it looks like I'll be buying my third replacement (fourth cord, total) in less than four years of owning my device. At $80 a pop, I can barely stomach it. I've had other issues with my device in general and Apple's care and service has been great. But this is absolutely absurd. For the amount of money that I invest into this equipment that I need for work and school, I shouldn't have to worry about the power cord failing every time I turn around.

Disgrace and shame for an Apple product

    • Written by from Issaquah

I am amazed at how a company that makes such awesome computers and iPods, can make such lousy chargers. Honestly. We need to buy a new charger every few months. I bet we have soon spent more money on buying chargers than on the laptops themselves. What a disgrace! Honestly. The poor quality of the chargers is REASON ENOUGH for me not to want to buy apple's products ever again. I mean. Aplle's products are good, but when you consider that you have to pay for a new cable every few months, it quickly makes it not worth it. I wish Apple would compensate me somehow. I have bought no less than five chargers so far, and I'm sorely disappointed :(

    So hot, it burns

    • Written by from San Antonio

3rd charger for my macbook in 3 years. The first frayed at the L-connector leaving wires exposed and the L-connector turned burning hot. Apple exchanged this one for me as it was still within my warranty timeframe. The second charger lasted a little less than a year before developing similar issues- so hot that if you touched it, it would burn you. It actually caused my board to burn out- had to replace it. When I brought in my charger to be evaluated, the apple genius tech kept saying, "it doesn't feel hot to me..." I have a burn on my hand from where it had just brushed up against the charger! Give me a break apple. I love my macbook, my iPhone and my iPad. Why can't you make a charger that lives up to the products it is supporting?

    Very disappointed!

    • Written by from Greenville

Have had 15" MacBook Pro for one year. Design of cable connection leading from adapter to machine very poor. Discovered connection at reinforced collar exiting adapter has cracked and broken leading to no power to unit. 1 year and $79.00! I've got plenty of other power cords decades old -- with no cracks or breaks! Apple should be able to generate more reliable products. Very disappointed!

Apple makes the worst power adapters on the market

    • Written by from Lakeland

There is something inherently wrong with the design of all Apple power supply cords. The outer coating frays, splits, peels, and finally comes completely apart. The design is terrible and needs to be fixed.

    Worst Charger I've Ever Had

    • Written by from Concord

I got my Macbook Pro two years ago. Since then, I've gone through THREE chargers, one of which randomly SET ON FIRE despite being on a desk fan. Your products are obviously dangerous if they can set on fire when there was no sign of stress.I can't even use my laptop anymore, because the other two broke. You make millions of dollars a day. You can afford to make better products. I wish I could say you get what you pay for, but I wouldn't pay more than $40 for this charger.

If I Could Rate This 0 Stars I would

    • Written by from Caro

I've had my computer for 2 years and I'm already on my 3rd charger. Not because I don't know how to take care of them properly, but because the cord doesn't last 6 months without coming apart. So unless you want to deal with sparking and potential fires from the cord tearing and having wires exposed, consider a different computer. Because honestly, wasting $80 on a charger 3 times in 2 years after paying over $1200 for my computer is complete bull. Maybe I should go back to PCs, because this honestly isn't worth it to me. Maybe you should do something about this, Apple. Considering the majority of your customers are unhappy with this. The response I was given by you guys before was to "Consider upgrading to the new Macbook, because the charger has been improved." Yeah okay, I'll just pull that money out of my back end. Because everyone has that much money laying around.

i've bought two of these, and they seem to have a lifespan of a little over a year. My first one stopped working literally as I was finishing my college apps around Christmastime, which was a nightmare, and my second one burnt through yesterday.

    WHY APPLE?!? WHY

    • Written by from Hamilton

I am a big fan of my Macbook, but I HATE the charger. I have gone through 4 chargers in the last 8 years with the same computer. All of them outlasted the 1 year warranty and then just mysteriously stopped working. I have lived in different dorms, houses, and apartments in this time, so it does not correlate to a problem with my power source. I try my best to be SO gentle with the charger. Unless Apple can come up with a better charger, I am considering not buying another Macbook.

Poor design. Poor Quality. Costs a fortune to Replace! Come on Apple!

    • Written by from Wembley

I had the magsafe for my MacBook air. It's a really bad design with poor quality build. After a year, ie outside warranty, it broke. I'm not happy. It costs 65 to replace. The product is not fit for purpose. I've never had a Sony, Acer or Toshiba charger cable effectively fracture from normal use (I was ultra cautious with this flimsy poor quality cable and it still broke).

Apple surely know of the problem but they don't care, having a patent on the item they can get us mugs to pay £65 for a replacement of a product that is not fit for purpose. Not happy customer. Get is sorted Apple this really is unfair.
