    They don't last!

    • Written by from Santa Fe

I've had my MacBook Pro for a tiny bit over a year.

I had to replace the charger TWICE! I didn't even do anything to the charger... it just randomly tears... AND $80 TO REPLACE!?!?! THATS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! I also don't have a apple store near me so if it tears I have to travel 1.5 hours because I rely on my computer.

    NICE COMPUTER. BAD CHARGERS.

THIS CHARGER HAS VERY BAD REVIEWS FOR MY EXACT REASONS I'VE LISTED.

This is a necessary object to buy if you lose your charger, but it's way too expensive for what it is

    Can't be an Apple...

    • Written by from Sulphur

Chargers just stop working for NO reason! This will be my 3rd charger in 2years and I can't blame it on wear & tear. This has to be by far the poorest apple product I own. My last laptop was a dell, had for over 4 years, replaced charger once for $30 not $80 x3! Apple should fix this because my loyalty (and looks like many others too) is wearing thin.

Cr*ptastic failure mode. Make the connector replaceable!

    • Written by from Saint Paul

I'm now the owner of several perfectly good MagSafe adapters, other than the fact that the tiny pins have jammed up and no longer connect. I'm tired of shelling out close to $100 for the failure of a tiny part.

Here's an idea: Make the actual MagSafe cord something which can be replaced by plugging it into the brick, just like the AC side of things. Then you can only stick me for $20-$30 or so when I inevitably replace the failing part, but at least won't have to chuck the whole thing.

C'mon Apple, innovate (and score some eco-points - I can only imagine how many of these adapters have ended up in landfills...)

Power Cord / Adapters - Generally Speaking ..

    • Written by from Midland

I have had my MacBook for 5 years and I am on my third power cord / cable / adapter. $89.00 each. I do not understand with all the negative feedback on this product, especially given the cost, that Apple is not addressing it. I was also frustrated when my mate got a newer version Ipad than I had only to discover our power cords are not compatible and we must travel with multiple cords.

For years I have been true to Mac, but this, along with the falling behind of compatibility issues I have sharing data with PC users is making me re-think it all. If this is an attempt at a repeatable revenue draw it is frustrtating. To win back my loyalty I would like to see Apple move to having all cords both quality and compatible. A customer first approach, which was what Apple used to represent.

It's Honestly ridiculous that in three years I have had to change the charger three times ....When I have other computers ( non Apple) that I have bought before this one >> the chargers still work fine >

I couldn't believe that product has been delivered by Apple >>> Jobs won't allow this !!!

3rd Power Supply in a Year

    • Written by from Nelson

This is definitely one Apple product that can hugely be improved on. I've gone through several of these myself and I don't feel like I'm mistreating them at all. IMO the cable should come out of the magsafe connector at a 90 degree angle. It seems like pointing the cable towards the front or back is rarely a convenient angle and causes stress on the cable. Also, the magsafe connector is not a very handy shape to be pulling from. I'm a little guy and my fingers are not too fat but it seems like getting a grip on the little sucker is pretty difficult. The space between it and the surface the computer is sitting on is definitely too small to wedge my fingers into and get a grip to pull.

Doesn't seem like it matters much to Apple but that's my 2 bits. Nothing much else that we can do about it other then buying cheap aftermarket power adapters, which I'm sure couldn't be any worse.

    Does not last.

    • Written by from Windham

My t shape adaptor lasted four years. This new L shaped design has lasted a year. I baby my gear and am not impressed with the longevity of this product. I should be greatful that I got this much time out of it considering all the other negative reviews.
I really don't want to pay $80 for another one. Over priced.

    Poor Quality

    • Written by from San Diego

I have gone through 2 power supplies so far. The way this adapter is designed, causes stress which wears out at the point where the cord starts. Apple needs a durable cord that will outlast the computer for a few years at least. If the adapter were more like a plug-in similar to the jack for ipod headphones..., somewhere else on the computer would be a good thing. Come on Apple for what is paid for an Apple computer, you think you could design a better power supply.

    Power Adapter is HORRIBLE!

    • Written by from Jacksonville

This is the second Power Adapter I've had (all original) that the cord breaks close to the little white box.
I dont do anything weird with it, I just use it a lot and it keeps happening.
So, now, for the third time, I'll have to buys another cord.

    Apple, FIX THIS!

    Broke my Macbook

    • Written by from Dover

My Macbook stopped turning on even on full battery. I bought a new MagSafe charger and the Macbook finally started working again. THAT charger broke, so I switched back to my original one. As soon as I connected it to my computer, everything went black. The computer shut off, and won't turn on again. Now I have to dish out $80+ for a new charger AGAIN or more? I work from my computer and this is unacceptable.

    Pretty terrible.

    • Written by from south deerfield

I have been using Mac products for more than 10 years now, and my iBooks, MacBooks and now my MacBook Pro have all required a replaced chargers. The MagSafe I am using now is less than a year and a half old, and it never leaves my desk, yet it became extremely hot two days ago, the casing split open, and it ceased to work. This is not a matter of my carelessness, but rather the inferiority of the product. I have no doubt that this review will have absolutely no impact on Apple's production methods, but I am extremely frustrated. Especially because I am a student and I do not have $80 lying around to throw at a charger that I should not need to buy so soon after getting a new computer.

    Rethinking

    • Written by from Effingham

In the past I have loved apple products. However, recently, I feel as if they're just too much maintenance and money. I have gone through numerous phone chargers due to shortages. Recently, my Apple computer charger broke. This was due to using Apple's design where you can wrap the cord. Be very very careful or it will break. Better yet, don't use it at all. Now I have to pay $80 to get a new one and who knows how long it will last. Definitely rethinking my future technology purchases.

    • Written by from West Palm Beach

Before 2 years ago I was always a Bill Gates fan than my parents bought me a Mac for a graduation gift laptop works unbelievable but within 1 year the charger started to shrivel. In my opinion the charger should be better qaility and for $90 I'd rather buy a PC. So apple you have lost another costumer.

    JUNK ....TOTAL.....JUNK

    • Written by from Greensboro

I have purchased 3 power cords in 2 years for my 2012 macbook air.
2 new power cords in 3 years for my 2009 macbook.
2 new power cords for my 4s in 1 year
3 new power cords for my daughters 5
3 new power cords for my sons ipod 5th gen
1 new power cord for my wifes ipad 3rd gen
Granted , maybe the kids are rough on cords, but D....

To apples defense, they have replaced 3 cords that were under warranty.

But i paid for 9 other cords out of pocket.

    Great products, INSANELY-A-W-F-U-L POWER CORDS
