    The cable broke again

    • Written by from MIAMI

The cable of my Mac Book Pro power adapter broke again. So I am forced to buy a third one. That accessory is pretty expensive. It should last the computer's lifetime. I feel very disappointed.

    Ridiculous

    • Written by from West Long Branch

I don't understand how over the years, the quality of your chargers have dropped drastically. The coating on my cable for my first generation iPod was thick, indestructable, and is still kicking. While your products have gotten better and more popular, you completely change the formula on your charger cables for the worst. It is ridiculous how fast, not just cables for your MacBooks, but for your iPhones/iPads/iPods also, the coating frays or scrunches up, causing the actual cables to snap or short circuit so fast. People put hundreds and thousands of dollars into buying your products, yet its like you purposely change up your chargers and decrease the quality in them so people have to keep replacing them. Then you expect people to pay ridiculous amounts of money to replace them several times in a few years span? You are not being fair to the countless costumors who use your products not just for personal use, but professional use.

awful design. no-good execution. i would accept the dumbness with less astonishment if the apple people told me they deliberately made a faulty product to maximize revenues. in any other scenario, the poverty of this device makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. who WHO WHO WHO W.H.O. authorized the actualization of this bad BAD B.A.D. idea?!?!?!?!?!?

One year of use and cord frayed

    • Written by from Festus

I am glad to see it is not just me that has this problem. My cord near the magsafe frayed and I had to wrap it in electrical tape. I plan to buy a new or used one on ebay since I can't afford the ones from here. I am dissappointed in Apple's products. My iphone 4s had touchpad issues and even with a new touchpad, it still won't always register when I tap it. The iphone 5s, had multiple issues ranging from touchpad not working, mic not working, black videos and pictures and rattling noise on even a replacement one. The Macbook pro's HD just overheated and now I am also dealing with replacing the HD. But the cords should be made better than this. I think Apple owes us a new cord on them!

    Awful Charger!

    • Written by from Robinson

Reading the reviews, I can't believe this problem hasn't been fixed! I spent $2300 on this laptop, the charger should be better quality or at least a free replacement! It has started to fray at the charging port and down by the power box. Really disappointed.

    worse than sugar free haribo

    • Written by from Edinburgh

Apple, you owe it to the customers and to the environment to make both cables replaceable. If you only count the number of adapters thrown away by the people who write reviews it's already about 500. For the vast majority only the cable had to be replaced. Miserable piece of design.

    Poor Product

    • Written by from Dallas

I have had my MAcbook Pro for less just over a year and the cord protector is already breaking so bad that I can see the wire underneath it even though I've been extremely careful with it. Apple really needs to redesign and make a stronger, longer lasting charger.

    Best Charger Ever... Not!

$80 to replace a charger that will last less than a year. Not cool. If Apple continues to make cheap power adapters they should at least sell them cheaply!

The last charger I had just fried my brand new battery as well as some of the processor. Frays like nobodies business and I am not happy. Really pushing me towards a 3rd party fix.

Take Care of It, and It Will Take Care of You

    • Written by from Red Deer

I don't usually write reviews, but I was startled by the number of negative reviews I saw for a product which has proven to reliable for me.

I've had my MacBookPro for 2 years and still have the original MagSafe cord that came with it. During that time, it has been toted around in laptop cases, switched between long and short lengths countless times, threaded under, around, and through a multitude of furniture legs, and traveled endless kilometres by bicycle, plane, and car. It still functions as well as the day it arrived on my doorstep: perfectly!

Yesterday, I had my first problem with it: the casing on cord split. Underneath, the wires themselves were still in pristine condition. I taped it up with electrical tape, and came here to see what it would cost to replace it. Which is when I found the startling number of bad reviews and couldn't help but ask myself, "what exactly are these people doing to their cords?"

I removed the one star for the short life of the cord casing, but as for the functionality of the cord itself, I couldn't be happier. Always transport your cord in your laptop case, keep it a safe distance from liquids, and don't toss it around like it's indestructible -- in other words, treat like the piece of electronic equipment that it is -- and it will serve you well for years to come.

These MagSafe chargers should be called MagSuck!

    • Written by from Hermosa Beach

I have now gone through two and need to get a third as these just stop working - i do not travel with it so rugged use is not the issue. With the cost of a Mac Air they should have a lifetime warranty! Now I need to spend another $79! i do not recommend unless they have a lifetime warranty as this will now be my third in two years! MagSuck!

Expensive products shouldn't come with shoddy quality parts

    • Written by from West Allis

My adapter is starting to not work and once it doesn't, well, then that's it, b/c even cheaper adapters aren't affordable. To have to pay so much for a laptop and then have the adapter break from normal use (unavoidable since its schoolwork) in a short time is ridiculous. I like my macbook but I need to charge it to be able to use it.

I've had to replace three times!!

    • Written by from bellingham

So expensive, yet so unreliable. I am university student and I need a reliable computer for my studies. It's sad to see that the macbook pro is no longer a reliable choice for me anymore simply due to the defect of the charger. Really guys? You can make great computers but cannot design a simple power cord? Open your eyes Apple and fix this issue!

    • Written by from Marlette

I am all for everything Apple - everything except these chargers. They are too expensive to be replacing all the time. I am very cautious when I am using them, but somehow the wires always end up being exposed. I am seeing that I am definitely not alone in this - PLEASE FIX THIS!

    • Written by from New York

Dear Apple! Please do something with the charger cable (this between charder unit and a Mac). In my case it breaks too often. I try to take care of it but it doesn't help. I travel a lot and I assume that portable computer as MacBoook Pro should be design to be solid notebook with durable parts. Your computers cost a lot of money so I recommend to focus on a charger as well. Thank you in advance.
