Suitable, maybe, for throwing through Apple Store window

    • Written by from Denver

This device fails to live up to Apple's reputation of building quality products that "just work." I purchased it for its airplay capabilities. Mistake. It's either not visible for airplay streaming or streams for 20 minutes then disconnects. Airplay is not ready for prime time or even small time.

    Not Gigabit

    • Written by from Georgetown

In this day and age, it is ridiculous that the Airport Express would not support gigabit networks. Even many home networks are now gigabit so this device should be able to support gigabit speeds.

This thing is limited to the point of uselessness!

    • Written by from Redmond

I've just spent the last 4 hours trying to get 2 of these things to CONNECT to my home network. Not even creating a network, just simply connecting to my already existing network. I have 2 routers already, one is a Linksys and the other is an ASUS. They talk to each other perfectly. Trying to get the 2 airport express base stations to connect to the networks output by either the Linksys or the Asus routers is (as far as I can tell) possible, but not worth all the hoops you're required to jump through in terms of configurations. Apple would you please bring the capability of your products up to that of products made by SO MANY OTHER BRANDS! Thank you!

    Extreme express dream

    • Written by from oregon

Had poor internet reception in certain rooms and got the AirPort Express. Works beautifully even with the Panda Wireless usb wifi adapter. You place the express in the room you need it. We did not use the wired connection. We used the express wirelessly to connect to the AirPort Extreme. It will attach wirelessly with even a weak wifi signal, and the express boosts that signal dramatically. It took very little time to set up. Easy to access, easy to install, easy to use. It is the size of the Apple TV second gen. We now get great wifi in all rooms, with no slowing down. Every room accesses the wifi as if the AirPort Extreme is in that room. Great for iPhones, iPads and all wifi devices.

    Absolutely terrible range

    • Written by from New York

The unit works fine when you're in the same small room - basically close enough to it that you could be using a wired connection - but beyond that it's borderline useless. Trying to use wifi from the other end of an absolutely tiny apartment results in frequent dropouts and painfully slow speed. Worst wifi station I have ever used, certainly not worth $99.

    Better than my Linksys router

    • Written by from Everett

After doing lots of research, I decided This router best suited my needs. Very simple to install, And improved my wifi range all the way out to most of my backyard (1300sq ft rambler). This also solved my airplay issues I was having while playing videos. The speed seems slightly faster than my Linksys router, and I've not had any drops in connection like my last router that occurred quite often. It also looks very clean and simple on my computer desk.

I've been a prisoner to my ancient verizon router that can not even run 802.11n. Once i got this i connected it to my verizon router through an ethernet and created my own network. I thought I was going to have issues because my printer is on my old network, but someway I can still print! The speed is amazing!!! I highly recommend this product

    AirPort Express Product Failure

    • Written by from BAY CITY

Purchased Airport Express November 2013. Defective product from the beginning. Very difficult & many unsuccessful tries to set up. Finally set up and worked....for 3 weeks. Quit working and back to several tries on my part, and when support could not get it to set up -- conclusion -- a defective unit. Replacement is on its way.

Useful in CONCRETE & STEEL building!!

    • Written by from Ottawa

Awesome product. I have two of these bouncing the signal to the furthest recesses of my house. I live in a 3000+ sq. ft. concrete house with steel paned concrete slabs, rebar in concrete and OWS joists between floors. Main router is in my basement and I have two of these boxes (on each of the two floors above). Works fantastically well. Noteworthy: my version is the older one (one box is 3 years old and the other is 2), this newer version must be better. p.s. - I don't work for Apple : )

Airport express keeps disconnecting from the wireless router

    • Written by from SAHUARITA

When this thing works it is awesome! However it doesn't work the way I want it to for very long before it disconnects from the network. I have it wirelessly connected to my internet for the sole purpose of playing music via the airplay feature. The problem is I have to pull the power plug and then reconnect it to get it to recognize the wireless signal and allow for airplay. However, this only lasts for an hour or so (on a good day) before it randomly disconnects itself from the network and I have to go pull the plug and restart it. I have read many other people that have had this problems as well. I went with apple for their renowned "user friendly" hardware. Unfortunately this product is not user friendly and does not work well and I would not recommend anyone using this as a medium for airplay as I have spent many hours resetting it and messing with it.

    Great for Extending

    • Written by from San Angelo

I live in a large house and had poor wifi reception on one end. I bought the Apple Express router and set it up in my kitchen which is halfway between the router and the other end of my house. Setup was very easy with my iPad. It went ahead and gave me the option to extend my wireless network from a Time Machine router I have in my living room. Now I can receive excellent service in the troubled area. Great fix for the price!

    eh... it's inconsistent

    • Written by from Santa Fe

I have a family of 5 most of the time. 2 adults, 3 kids. Currenlty, we host two exchange students - one from China and one from Spain so right now - we have 7 in the house. Both of them expect good wifi - and justifiably so. When we had 5 - the airport was above average... very little problems, worked well, but occasionally if all of us were doing something (my wife is a digital marketer and I work in school admin) - and my kids are on thier ipods or phones, the thing crashes. Everybody loses a signal, we unplug, plug back in - it goes amber to green, and then we're back on. As users go to sleep, the signal stays. If everybody is on... it's wets the bed. It's OK most of the time, but getting off the back porch (dang I sound like a lazy SOB) to go fix the wifi 6-7 times a night gets old. You start wonder, "is this the way it is or can i get a better device?"
