Good Product but still lacks complete sweat protection.

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I just picked up Gen. 5 nano with this armband and the nike+ kit. This armband fit the nano with the nike+ sensor snuggly and straps comfortably around my average sized biceps. Took it for a 5K run and everything felt and functioned properly. After the run I took the nano out and noticed that the back side of the nano was damp from the sweat that had seeped through the back of the felt material on the ipod holder. So there were beeds of sweat on the back of the Nano. The front of the Nano was dry and well protected. Personally I would recommend this only for comfort but if you need absolute sweat protection, you might want to look at the H2O cases. Another recommendation would be to seal the nano with Glad Press N' Seal before putting it into the armband.

    Only if you DON'T sweat!

    • Written by from Riverside

The first time I used this armband it was very difficult for the face to acknowledge any finger movement because the plastic is too thick AND being on the treadmill for 45 minutes and having sweat pretty good - I didn't expect the nano to be WET. It froze on me and I had to gently place it in a warm area to dry it out. Fortunately it still works, but I would not recommend this armband because of this serious issue when exercising. Too costly of a shortfall. I almost lost my brand new nano!

    Arm Band NO Good!

    • Written by from Georgetown

This band is not moisture sensitive which caused my nano to quit working. After letting it dry out I still got a white screen. I then went to the troubleshooting section and followed the instructions. I finally got it to work after 3 download tries but then had lines in it, sound was bad (became very drawn out and volume was very inconsistent), pictures where murky. I went running again using the armband and it died.

The short of the long story is I had to send back the BRAND NEW GENERATION 5 NANO for repair. This is time I did not want to spend. I AM MAD!!!!

Plus I have to invest in a new armband or something to put it in while I exercise otherwise there is no need for this product! Why else would I have it if I can't even workout with it comfortably.

Save yourself some hassle DON'T BUY THIS ARMBAND!!!!

    looks and feels nice!

    • Written by from Torrance

I bought this armband for my girlfriend and she loves it! (she runs and bikes). I even tried it on myself and its really conformable! the only down side is that it only comes in 1 color. colors like blue, red, or yellow may have been better then a plain boring gray.. but thats just me. I recommend it to any woman out there!

    Many problems

    • Written by from Los Angeles

This product is poorly designed and not well thought out.

    1. The whole point of getting an armband is to wear your iPod while exercising, so it seems ridiculous that this thing isn't more moisture resistant. After a one hour jog, I removed my iPod from the holder and it was moist with sweat. Not good at all.

    2. The hold button is covered up and unusable while in this sleeve. Don't know why they couldn't have designed a hole to make this accessible.

    3. The plastic that covers the scroll wheel renders the scroll wheel unresponsive or erratic.

    Pros and cons

    • Written by from Strongsville

I got the new ipod nano the day it came out online from my boyfriend for an anniversary gift. He also bought me this case because I work out. Pros: it is comfortable, breathable, sleek and not too showy. Cons:it doesn't have a whole for the hold button so when you turn it off and you touch it on accident it will turn back on. There is no way to get to the hold switch. Another con is that the cover of the scroll isn't sensitive. When trying to scroll with the cover on, the ipod doesn't recognize your touch as well. It gets frustrating if your trying to find a radio station or just scrolling to find a song. I still recommend it but beaware it wont be as sensitive and you can't switch the hold button on or off with the case on. Other than that I like it.

New nano gen 5 armband ok, but...

    • Written by from Edmonds

Needed something for the gym for my new gen 5 nano, and when I slid it into this armband I thought I'd found just what I needed. But then I thought there was something wrong with my new ipod...the click wheel was very insensitive and unresponsive. I had to use lots of pressure, and even then performance was spotty. Drove me CRAZY!

Turns out the problem was the very thick plastic protection window the armband uses to cover the click wheel. I cut it out with an xacto knife, and viola, it's great...but I've sacrificed protection (I'm willing to make this trade-off to get the click wheel to work right). A better solution would be for Apple to use thinner plastic to cover the click wheel.

Difficult to use when you run!

    • Written by from Washington

While the armband does do the trick in keeping your iPod on your arm, the plastic layer that protects the wheel is so thick that the wheel isn't responsive when touched - which is frustrating if you're trying to change songs or volume mid-run. Also, you have to pull your iPod out of the band to unlock the lock button at the top, which is crazy since I generally keep my iPod in the armband locked between runs so it won't get hit in my bag and use up battery power. Or you can do what I did which was to try to unlock it from the outside of the band - this has resulted in the whole band splitting along the top seam. Finally, the color and material do not hold up on the smell/sweat test. Apple needs to seriously reconsider its running audience and redesign this armband!

    Submarine with a screen door

    • Written by from Denver

That's the worth of this hunk 'o junk. You should be able to give it zero stars. Like most posters said below, it doesn't repel ANY sweat, it slips on the arm unless you pull it so tight you lose circulation, you can't access the lock button, and the clear plastic renders the wheel useless. It basically turns your Nano into a shuffle that is vulnerable to skipping and destruction (see sweat).

Won't protect your iPod from sweat!

    • Written by from Englewood

There are 4 things wrong with this product:
    1) It is NOT sweat-proof (After a good workout the back of my iPod has sweat all over it)
    2) The plastic interferes with your ability to use any of the controls accurately
    3) No access to the hold button
    4) It only comes in white and it gets dirty very quickly

The only reason I still use this armband is because I'm waiting for a new one and I don't want the iPod to get scratched in the meantime. I wish I could return this lousy product

    negative star

    • Written by from Richmondville

The plastic cover is so stiff. selecting a tune was a major project. Once I had made my selection, controlling volume or changing the selection on the go was virtually impossible. I just "fixed" it by cutting away most of the plastic. Doesn't anyone test these things? ( I had one for my first nano which worked great.)

good product, but doesn't fit the newest iPod Nano

    • Written by from Diseworth

The product is very practical, but doesn't fit the new ipod nano correctly. Because the screen is slightly bigger, the wheel is lower than the hole. Also the jack for the new Nano is on the other side of the product, so again, everything doesn't line up. So overall, if you have the old nano, then great product, cant fault it. But if the buy the new Nano (the only one Apple are selling now) then don't buy until they update the product.

    Not worth $29.00

    • Written by from Seattle

No moisture protection- I-pod had condensation on it after every workout.

No button sensitivity with the clear plastic cover. I-pod was often unresponsive thru the plastic. Also, the plastic wore out after a few months and eventually came completely off, which made the band useless. The I-pod doesn't stay in the band well without the plastic cover.

I would have expected to pay $5.00 the way this band held up.

    Are you kidding?

    • Written by from Nürnberg

We got the iPod nano for our colleague for her wedding. She's an avid runner, so we got the armband to go with it. But, if you stick the iPod inside the pouch, the hole where the cable for the ear phones is supposed to go through is on the opposite side of the actual plugin for the cable on the iPod. How on earch does this make sense? It's really frustrating because we thought we were getting her this great gift and now she's stuck with a device she can't actually use.

    Just ok

    • Written by

Pros: The armband itself is nice looking. It doesn't slide down when working out.

Cons: There is no way to lock or unlock your ipod unless you take it out of the case. Also, its really hard to move the wheel through the plastic. When you sweat the back of the ipod gets wet.

Cheap, flimsy product. Can't believe I paid $30.

    • Written by from Palatine

This is a chintzy, cheap product. First, could they not give 1mm more of material so that I don't have to spend 5 minutes cramming my nano into it. I had to take the skin off the nano so that it would fit. Ridiculous. The plastic cover is cheap and gets bends easily, thanks to how hard it is to get the stupid nano into it. And even then, it doesn't fit well. Don't waste your money, if I could return it, I would, but I bent the heck out of the plastic cover thanks to how hard it is to get the nano into it. What a waste.

    Sweat problems

    • Written by from Minneapolis

As everyone else has been saying, this isn't a good arm band for running or exercise which causes you to sweat. The case absorbs the sweat from your body and pulls inside to rest on the nano. In addition, it reeks after about three uses. I used it all winter so it is fine for cold weather activity--provided you have the appropriate layers to absorb the sweat--but as soon as I broke out the tank top, its useful life was over.
