I Love Love Love This Thing

    • Written by from LONG BEACH

When I first saw it, I had to have it. For me, the Magic Trackpad is much easier to use than a mouse--any mouse. It makes using my Mac almost like using my iPhone. Super easy to set up and configure. You can swipe from screen to screen, even between applications and websites. You can zoom and pinch. You can even configure the Trackpad to perform the right-click function. Having to change the battery after several months is a minor inconvenience, but it will notify you when the battery is getting low. Totally worth the money! No regrets here!

Love the Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse

    • Written by from BEDFORD

Recently purchased the Trackpad because I wanted to have the same experience as with my MacBook Pro's trackpad. I have my MBP connected to my 23" ACD 98% of the time so I really never use the Pro's trackpad but love using it. I've used the Magic Mouse for many years, now it's my new Magic Trackpad's turn. Not sure if I will end up keeping it, but for now Im loving it.

It's nice not to use a mouse pad which takes up a lot of extra space, without the mouse pad the Magic Mouse wears my desk. For now the Magic Trackpad has a new home, and the mouse is hiding in the drawer.

For now the Trackpad seems awkward after using a mouse for so long......Time will tell!

    awsome

This mouse is amazing. I've had it for 3 years and it has never let me down. I would recommend it if your like a designer or something like that. I'm just a kid but I love it. One thing though the buttons on the bottom after a while start to get stuck. So I would put it on tap mode to click.

    Best in Class...

    • Written by from Forest Hills

This trackpad is every bit as good as the built-in trackpads on MacBooks. In fact since it is bigger it is actually a little nicer to use. If there were better windows drivers avaiable for it (that allowed more gestures) I would have one connected to my Windows work PC as well! Price is competitive with other quality trackpads such as the one made by Logitech so there is no reason not to go with the superior Apple version.

    Flat and versatile

    • Written by from Toronto

In an age where we are so accustomed to navigating flat touch-screens, the trackpad fits right into our comfort zone. It integrates all of the gestures you would find while using an iPad, plus many more which feel so natural to the OS X environment.

It's all about the subtleties: You can actually use the trackpad without ever needing to do the hard-press down that some users complain about. The tap to click feature comes in handy for this, as do the two-finger swipe and the three-finger move (very cool and super-productive feature for selecting text and moving objects). You can even make a click without lifting the finger which is moving the cursor (for example, by moving the cursor with middle finger, then clicking with the index).

The Trackpad is superior to the Magic Mouse, in my opinion. I started out with the mouse and really enjoyed its new features and sleek design. However, after being used to doing so much more with gestures and touch-screens, the Trackpad beats it out by at least a full star. You can compare them in-store, but nothing beats bringing both home to really get the hang of it. Give each a fair chance for a week or two, then return the one you like less!

I think Apple has done a great job of making the trackpad a relevant (and very productive) tool for modern-day use. When used in conjunction with the keyboard and its many shortcuts, you've got a pleasurable and productive session ahead of you.

It does what it's supposed to do

    • Written by from Gilroy

I'm not sure what hidden things are on this but It's basically a bigger track pad. it would also be good to get a wireless keyboard to accompany it otherwise it is awkward.

Battery life Tackpad vs Magic Mouse

    • Written by from Tonawanda

I used a Magic Mouse for several years before I decided to replace it with the Trackpad. It took some getting used to but now that I have, I like it fine. A big plus is that it seems the batteries (same rechargeable ones I used in the Magic Mouse) last a lot longer in the Trackpad. Apparently, the Trackpad does not require as much power as the Mouse. Unexpected but welcome difference.

    EPIC

    • Written by from Denver

This trackpad put simply is amazing. It's huge, the texture is perfect, and it's awesome with Minecraft. I use this when I'm at home because my Mac is far back on my desk and I don't like reaching across my desk to use my Mac. So I bought this and the wired keyboard and it works great! This trackpad is the best, least laggy trackpad I've ever used.

    Loving it!

    • Written by from Port St. Lucie

I was between buying the magic mouse or the trackpad, but I couldn't be happier that I went with the trackpad! I don't have to worry about what surface I'm using with the trackpad, or even needing a surface at all, unlike with a mouse. I connect my MacBook to my TV a lot, and it's always been a pain to have to maneuver around in the cabinet to use the internal trackpad when I need to adjust something, now I just have the trackpad sitting on my side table and grab it whenever I need it. No clipboard to lean on, no jumbling around with the cabinet; this is the most convenient Apple accessory I've purchased to date. Loving it!

    Loving the Trackpad!

    • Written by from San mateo

I wasn't sure how much I would like the Trackpad after testing it at the Apple store. It was awkward standing over it with my wrist bent, and down right painful after a few minutes of use.

However, after a few minutes of use at home with my new iMac, I love this thing. It is so much easier, ergonomic, and less fatiguing than a mouse. The various finger controls, swipes, and pinches make this thing a joy to use. I think my mouse might go the way of the floppy disk.

I read many complaints that the angle of the trackpad is bad, but I hardly notice it. Best new apple purchase I have made in a while. Absolutely loving the trackpad, and highly recommend it.

    Throw away your mouse.

    • Written by from Mission

Took me about 2 days to get used to using this and will never go back to a mouse again. Less fatiguing, less desktop real estate required and all around more useful for your iMac. Gives you access to gestures impractical with any mouse. I realize there is always a matter of personal preference involved, but if you're in debating between the mouse or the trackpad, I think you will find the trackpad to be miles ahead in terms of usability. Absolutely LOVE it!

    As it should be!

I've been using the Magic Trackpad for some time now. I thought it was time to give a review of this little wonder. I have only had to replace the batteries once. I got the best batteries available. I use my Mac everyday so my Magic Trackpad gets quite a work out. I keep it clean by using a soft damp cloth once in a while making sure that I keep it looking it's best. I would never consider using anything else now that I've had the Magic Trackpad.

    Former Windows User

    • Written by from Dawsonville

My previous experience with trackpads were windows laptops provided by my employer. Like all my co-workers I carried a mouse in my bag as I could not use the small pad effectively. When I purchased my iMac in Feb. I added the trackpad as an addition to the Magic Mouse hoping it would have the functionality of the gestures I use on my iPad. I VERY seldom use the mouse now, when I do it is because it is a more precise device. PROS: Makes Mountain Lion sing, much better than my friends Windows 8 27" touchscreen (I save on windex) I use the Twelve South Magic Wand so can lean back and use from my lap. CONS: Not quite as precise as a mouse (at least for me) and I invested in rechargeable batteries as it is a battery hog.

    Amazing

    • Written by from Sinnai

I started loving it since the first minute of use, really. My workflow is just faster, easier and less energy consuming because it takes less to move your fingers than to move the whole arm and a mouse. Will keep my review short but there are a lot of other positive considerations that i could make. Apple really makes amazing products and i hope it will continue with this route even without the amazing mind of steve :(

    Trackpad orientation

    • Written by from Walnut

Couldn't get the terminal orientation suggestion to work, and yes the track pad needs to be turned with batteries to operator. However, I run a newspaper/print shop and have always used a half-inch riser under the keypad which makes it flat and more comfortable for me. Just did the same with touchpad. All OK.

    Easy to use

    • Written by from Brunswick East

I recently bought an external 27" monitor hooked up to my Macbook Air and found the non Apple mouse I was using rather inadequate. I bought the Magic Trackpad and absolutely love using it with the natural gestures etc. I'm even able to use it from my bed, thus turning the monitor etc into a 'home theatre' set up.

    Trackpad Awesome for Limited mobility

    • Written by from Whitehorse

I love the Magic Trackpad. I am right handed, and my right hand has limited use and movement, and I find that the trackpad works awesome, since I can just use the two fingers that work well on my right hand instead of the whole hand to move the mouse.

Best Mac accessory I have ever owned!!!

    • Written by from Kissimmee

As someone who has been using Apple products since 1985 or so it goes without saying I have used my share of Apple products. The Magic Trackpad is, by far, my favorite Mac accessory I have ever owned. I already use a MacBook Pro with multi touch of course running Mountain Lion for work so the gestures have long since become second nature. But when I purchased my brand new Quad Core i7 Mac Mini and was using my old Mighty Mouse (yes Mighty, not Magic) it was like stepping back in time and while my Mighty Mouse served me well for a long time I knew I needed the upgrade. Holy moly am I glad I did. For one the build of it, like everything Apple really, is just so solid and legit. The design is beautiful and simplistic, again like all things Apple and the responsiveness is just astounding. And again, I am someone who is certainly not new to the product. Truly the Magic Trackpad lives up to its name. Couple all of that with the excellent gestures built in to Mountain Lion and this is, hands down, my favorite Mac accessory ever. A+++. Thank you Apple for making my life better and easier once again.
