broken tab upper left ... twice; looking for another keyboard

    • Written by from Berwyn

I purchased my iPad Air at a local Apple store and bought this keyboard. As others have described, the plastic broke on the upper left side near the power/sleep button. I took the keyboard back to the Apple store, and they kindly replaced it. I was then extremely careful about how I put the Air into and out of the keyboard. After a few weeks, this one too has broken.

Reviews over several sources have decried this issue. I trust Apple to select quality products to sell along side their products. This has shaken my trust in what Apple will sell along side their products.

    Look for a keyboard elsewhere.

    Broken Tabs

    • Written by from Port Coquitlam

Same issue as everybody else - after 1 month the left clip in tab broke. Took it back to the apple store and they were great helping me get in contact with Logitech and a new case is on the way, although I will probably run into the same problem again. The staff told me they had a lot of complaints about the same thing. So my question would be is - why is apple continuing to promote this in their stores? Same issue too with the on off feature. Will give it one more go and then I will have to look at another product.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from Newhall

At first this was a great cover. Same keyboard I loved from the model I had for my ipad 2. But after just a few short weeks the thin plastic holding the top left corner of the ipad by the power button cracked. I have read several reviews about this very flaw. I had to return it and will wait for a better version hopefully.

    Broken side of case

    • Written by from Uncasville

I have had the same problem, I have had this keyboard since before christmas and yesterday I noticed that the side of my case has cracked. My ipad is completely falling out of it. It was a gift to me. I will be calling the company in hopes for a replacement.

Great case, if you know how to use it.

    • Written by from Helsinki

I bought this case from local Apple store without first checking out the word on the street. After I got home I immediately searched the product reviews and was dismayed to find the multitudes of negative reviews here lamenting the impaired functionality and especially the durability of the holders that keep the iPad in place.

After using the keyboard now for two days I have encountered none of these issues with the keyboard that others seem to be having.

I think that two key points come to mind why I am enjoying this great product and some are not.

    1. Keep the home button on the right side of case.

Yes, i can relate to the fact that there are left handed people out there but then again, the case was not designed to be used this way. Keep the button on the right side and the sleep / wake-up works flawlessly.

    2. Do NOT follow the instructions on the keyboard manual on how to insert / detach the iPad!

My first instinct when putting the iPad to the case was to gently slide it in on it's cradle and to get it of i would push it from its side until it came loose of the side fittings. Instead, the manual instructs you to PUSH it down on the holder. To detach the iPad the manual instructs you to bend back the corners so that the iPad pops out. I actually tried this and wont be trying it again.

So in the end, I am totally satisfied with the product and expect to enjoy it for as long as I have my iPad AIR.

    defective bracket design

    • Written by from valencia

love the look, works great, i have had 2 of these break at the on off switch within a few weeks . i am an older adult very careful with my product when it has broken the iPad has fallen out several times. i rarely even shut my pad off at switch this is just not designed well. if bracket problem is addressed then this would be a 5 star item. i have had great success with tech support and replacement. don't even want a 3rd one due to the obvious problem i and so many others have had.

    Terrible Quality

    • Written by from Highlands Ranch

This case would be an awesome case if it were not for the poor quality make. The clips that secure the ipad are very flimsy and break extremely easily! I have gone through 3 different cases and each time the same thing happens. The clips crack and eventually break, making my ipad always slipping out and not staying stable. For each case i used it very gently and did not force the ipad in or out of the case. Even with being gentle, the clips still break. I would not recommend this case to anyone. there are much better cases out there for this price. Very disappointed

    Ultrathin key board case

    • Written by from Port charlotte

I am surprised that Apple store sells the case and Logitech also, as these are two big companies with high quality standards.

I am on my second case in a month and yes, it broke upper left hand corner adjacent to the power switch for the ipad.

This is terrible and extremely poor quality control.

So what do I do now get a third one????

Second one broken in a week

    • Written by from Wallingford

I hate to sound like a broken record, however I have to chime in because my situation is consistent with the others. The left bracket of my second keyboard folio just cracked one week in. I have never dropped my iPad Air and I was very gentle with this second folio. I will be returning it soon. If this didn't happen, I would be writing a 5 star review because the product is otherwise excellent.

Surprised Apple still sells this keyboard given its defective design

    • Written by from Henderson

To echo the other comments, this keyboard suffers from an unfortunate design defect. The holder will crack and break within 1 to 3 months of use. Mine started cracking about 1 month after purchase and broke completely after 3 months. I actually love everything else about it, so if they fix it, I would definitely buy it again. That's why I gave 2 stars rather than just one.

The case seams robust and well built. Whoever designed the mechanism which holds the ipad in place should be fired. I never dropped my ipad and the first week of use the corner piece broke because they removed all but 2mm of material in the most crucial area of the corner piece to accommodate the on/off switch. PRODUCT RECALL is a must! $100 down the drain, thanks for nothing Logitech!

    Recall, Please!!

    • Written by from Seattle

This product should never have made it to the marketplace, the corner clasps are very weak and break soon after purchase. My iPad slipped out of the case landing on a carpeted floor; had it been a tile floor, I'd be buying a new iPad. Do the honorable thing Logitech...recall these cases.

    Good Case

The The only issue that I have with the keyboard is that it does not maintain bluetooth connectively. I have to turn it off and then back on for it to reconnect. Other than that issue, I have enjoyed the keyboard so far.

Do not DREAM of buying this -

    • Written by from Chennai

Im on my second one, and now headed for a full refund.
I thought when the FIRST one "broke" (plastic supports that hold the iPad) with a few days of buying it, it was an exception.
Then the second one same thing, within a week.
    Apparently, its the norm.
Also the base where the keys sit is VERY scratch prone.
Its obvious Logitech's product development team have dropped the ball on this one.
How this could be released without addressing these flaws is baffling to me, but a good indicator of the kind of company Logitech is!
    Never again, Logitech.

    Too flimsy!

    • Written by from Nevada City

At first, I absolutely loved this case and keyboard set up. It is sleek, works very well, is thin, light etc, but then the plastic corner securing the iPad in the case broke after a week and a half after normal use. I exchanged the case for a new one, but the second case broke in the exact same place after about 3-4 weeks. I'm living abroad now, otherwise I would probably return the second case too. Terribly disappointing - as I really do like the case otherwise. Sadly, I've now resorted to supergluing every week or so to keep my iPad from falling out...

    GARBAGE!

    • Written by from Boston

I have had my folio for less than one month. I dropped it off my lap onto a padded and carpeted surface and one of the holding brackets broke. I tried to SuperGlue it and left it overnight. As soon as I slid the iPad back in this morning it broke off again. Now the iPad cannot stay anchored in the brackets and the "stand" feature is useless.

Will be trying to return this today and going back to a standard case and separate key pad. Incredibly disappointing for the price.

    Horrible Product

    • Written by from ambler

This was a terrible use for 100 dollars. The first one I bought had gotten a minor crack on the left hand side fastener within about 10 days of purchase- so I took it back, the store employees seemed shocked that it would have cracked (I also made sure to follow included instructions on how to put the ipad in the folio) and gave me another- low and behold this one is now cracked as well and my ipad air has slipped out of it on numerous occasions. I shocked that i haven't cracked the screen yet because of this product.Very very very very disappointed. Sad that apple would sell this in their stores. I would give it zero stars if possible.
