    Ready to give up

    • Written by from Columbus

I've had the FuelBand SE for 11 months and have loved it until just recently. Over the last month and a half I've been back and forth with tech support with fuel recording issues. I do a lot of cycling and weight training and have been fine with editing the intensity, except now when I do that in the app it adds double the fuel it is supposed to. The only way I can fix it is to reset my band and uninstall and reinstall the app. I've had to do this several times when tech has insisted it's fixed and asked me to try again. Other times, I've waited until I plug into my computer to edit intensity, but half the time it won't transfer my data and I get an error from Nike+ until I reset the band anyway. My husband's band has the same issue so I know I am not alone in this.

Plus, the entire time I've had the band, the trophies feature has been inaccurate at best. Several times I received the same trophy over TWENTY times in one day when I hadn't even earned it once. Then today I synced with the computer and half my month's data changed. I'm fed up. I think Nike is phasing this out as the iWatch comes into play and I'm disappointed at how much money I spend on Nike products to just be pushed under the rug.

The product it self is great however I am having issues with the app and syncing it with my computer . It syncs but the data is not correct and it effects my whole nike account and with my stats and records this is all very frustrating and really hope they come out with a fix or I may need to order another fitness tracker.

I'm not exactly sure why anyone is having problems with their charge, syncing, or any other software issues. My FuelBand SE has been amazing! It's very motivational and everyone I know who has one loves it. I'm sure people just want to see big companies like Nike look bad since we know they always make quality products and this band IS quality! It syncs to my Lose It app and tracks everything I do! I run daily and I'm often very busy as a working mom. I love that it tells you to move when you're being lazy. And all of the trophies it has to offer is awesome. The band and the app both get 5 starts from me! :)

    Not worth the money

    • Written by from Long Beach

I received this as a gift, and for Nike to produce such a failed product is a shame. To make it worse, it is an exclusive product for Apple, and between these 2 big companies, it is a great disappointment. The band, at the end of the day, gives you a number measured by Nike fuel, but when transferring this number to the computer or mobile app, it doesn't always transfer accurate data. Since I've received it, the amount transferred over is short by about 1000 fuel points for me, and so it doesn't give an accurate accounting of your effort. Ive always carried a pedometer, and I have been checking the accuracy of steps and distances. The pedometer is about 99% accurate, and it only cost me less than $30. This band is a $99 product, and the steps are not accurate, it doesn't give you distance if your walking. The only thing it measures is the movement of your arms. My wife gave this to me, but I will talk with her to return this to Nike as this deserves to go back to the researching department. I had to call the Nike support agent, and he told us that the accuracy of steps is only by 80% - so how can companies like Apple and Nike put a product in the market that is 80% accurate? This leads me to believe that the rest of the data is maybe 50% accurate - maybe? As far as I am concerned, this product is a failure. My recommendation is DONT BUY IT until they fix it and guarantee perfection.

    Poor Sync

I have to reload the software ever few months as the unit won't transfer data to my IPad or my IPhone. Wish it would monitor your sleep and it doesn't track cycling or any elliptical equipment.

Starts off great but battery life eventually starts to die daily...

    • Written by from Ottawa

This is the third time my FuelBand starts to drain the battery after less than a day. At first, it starts off lasting almost over a week. I do Martial Arts and go to the gym regularly. Eventually the battery starts to lose its power faster from over a week, to 5 days, down to 3 days to now it will not even last a day.

This my only complaint about the FuelBand. I had the original edition and had to return it because of the battery. The SE came out and I upgrade and again I had to exchange it because of the battery. The current one is now at home. I am too frustrated to deal with Nike.

Nike needs a better way to exchange the device. I have to send the damaged one in and they have to test it first before sending me the replacement. So I am out at least two to three weeks.

I have gone through 2 Nike Fuel Bands and 1 Nike Fuel Band SE in 15 months. The first one's button stopped working after 8 months, but this was covered under warranty so Nike shipped me a new one. This one lasted 5 months until one of the linkages broke and the Fuel Band could not hold together. This was also covered under warranty and this time Nike shipped me a Fuel Band SE. This one lasted 3 months until the clasp randomly came undone today while out walking my dog and it fell off. This has been a common problem with all 3 Fuel Bands so far: the clasp would randomly come undone during normal wear (like just walking around the house), but thankfully each time I noticed this and re-clasped it before it fell off. This final time though it came unclasped and I didn't notice until it was gone.

You would think a product designed to be worn during physical activity (since that is what it measures) would have a very robust clasp so that at no point could it accidentally come undone. However, all 3 have had this same problem and it finally caught up to me. Nike replaced the first two under warranty, but I know there's no way they'll replace one that was lost, even though it was due to their clasp malfunctioning. I have no desire to replace my Fuel Band at my own cost and continue to deal with a product that breaks and falls apart every few months.

    Excellent product

My husband bought his first and wore it daily for about a year before I bought mine . I also put it on first thing in the morning and keep it on all day . Once you get used to how it works it really motivates me and I love knowing exactly how I am doing that day . Several of our friends have now purchased and love the fuel band . It is fun to set your goal and see how you can accomplish it . The web page when you sync and charge it is really fun as well . I love all the information it provides .

    Worth Every Penny

    • Written by from honeybrook

While I can understand the issues everyone posts I personally love my Fuel Band. My first one was replaced free of any charge by Nike after a few of the lights blew out but the replacement is working just fine. Combined with an iPhone you can truly unlock all of its abilities in the best way. My first fuel band was linked to my old Android device and while it was still a great product it is nothing compared to being linked with the iPhone (just my personal opinion). Either way you can not go wrong purchasing a Fuel Band. It is worth every penny. It is very stylish and just overall a very cool product as well. I highly recommend the Fuel Band.

    Lasted only two months

    • Written by from Edmonton

I bought it last May 2014 and I thought it was great from the start. The app is great as it gives me the information I needed. It motivated me to take a regular walk and I wear it every time except when going to sleep. After a month, the link became loose and I tried to find where I can purchase a replacement link but unfortunately I can't find anywhere, even at Nike online. I continue using it while still looking a place to buy replacement link, but through time, the other end of the bracelet where the link connects came off. I tried to fix it last night and found out that the spring for the lock was dislocated. Now I'm worried if I can still claim the warranty for it. It's too expensive to get broken easily.

    Sync Problems

    • Written by from Beaverton

I have owned the Fuel Band SE for about 2 months. I love the features of the band, and as other users say, it keeps me motivated. I like it more now that I have discovered "Sessions" for walking, training, etc. Those times when you aren't using your arms too much so Fuel points are harder to track. My biggest issue with the product is it's inability to sync properly. I have the Iphone 4s and I have had trouble getting it to sync properly with my phone. I contacted Nike customer service and tried everything I was told to do and now it won't connect at all! It is very frustrating and now I will have to send it back and wait for a replacement. Their customer service team is fantastic and very helpful, so I am hoping getting a new band fixes the issue.

I had two of these. Both ended with button broke. Other thing to notice is that the battery is not replaceable. There are better choices in the market with excellent synchrony with Apple products.

So to be honest it really doesn't track everything its just certain motions and movement. I bought it cause i saw it on vogue and thought it was really cool looking. Especially with the whole wearable tech thing being in. I like it i keeps me motivated. what does frustrate me though is when I'm at the gym it doesn't really track some of that. but whatever i compete with my friends to see whose the laziest!

Outstanding motivational tool for improving overall fitness

    • Written by from NEW ROCHELLE

There is a simple elegance to this product that will benefit anyone interested in improving their overall fitness level. First, wear it daily for a week to get a baseline. Then choose a daily target to aspire to. You'll find yourself taking the stairs more often; parking the car a little further from the grocery store, going for a walk during your lunch hour. You'll be looking for ways to earn points. The Nike iPhone app will reward you with accolades for your efforts which will inspire you to push further.

Resist the temptation to dissect Nike's proprietary Fuelpoint system. Like any other activity tracking device (including heart rate monitors, pedometers, fitness machine calorie calculators, etc) it is neither perfect nor an exact scientific measurement. However, it will keep you in tune to how much you are moving which will, for many, drive you to move more often - which is the whole point.

I've had mine for about 4 months and wear it every day. I take it off at night. Battery can last for several days and charges easily via standard USB port. I have accidentally gone swimming with it without incident (note: Nike does not claim it to be water proof). This simple device created an awareness that has removed me from the couch and played a key role in loosing over 40 pounds.

FuelBand SE - Hoping for more

    • Written by from Longmont

I received my FuelBand SE for Christmas. The first one I received was a large and was uncomfortable so I exchanged it for an XL and it fit much better. Although still a bit uncomfortable. The big issue was lack of consistent connectivity with my iPhone. I had several exchanges with Nike technical support and they did a good job of trying to solve the issues (the reason it gets 2 stars). Each time my fuel band was recharged, it would not reconnect to my phone. The most reliable solution was to uninstall the Nike app from my phone, re-install it and then it would re-connect. Seems a bit inconvenient. In addition to the issue each time it was recharged, it would just randomly lose it's connection to the phone. Sometimes rebooting the phone would solve the problem. Way too many issues for not much benefit. I finally returned mine.

    New and Improved.

Bought this when it first came out. Got the volt green color. The fuelpoints are very engaging and motivational, sort of like a game in a sense. Love the animation when I reach my goal for the day. At first, I synced via USB on my computer, had no issues there. Now I sync with my 5s and it's easy and does the job well. Only wish it a vibration setting for sleep/wake like other fitness wearables have.

    Not ready for prime time?

    • Written by from Cuba

A year ago I owned the 1st Gen FuelBand and found it generally trouble-free (until it died after a year of continuous use!) and the Nike software/infrastructure relatively responsive and reliable.

My experience (since December 2013) with the new SE model has been far less satisfactory. The device works well some days but the bluetooth connection can drop out for no apparent reason (and it's difficult to re-connect without rebooting the iPhone).

The Nike+ website is often "down" or won't accept my attempts to log on. When I do get logged in successfully, the data recorded doesn't match what I see on my iPhone.

Nike+ support is, in general, helpful and sympathetic but I've had FAR more issues with the SE than I had with the first model AND the problems are more annoying.

Nike's development of this product seems to be moving backwards, not forwards.

While this might work well for walking and running it does not work well for Biking, eliptical etc. My husband actually go thousands of points for golfing....with a cart. It is not able to differentiate different activities at all. For simple motivation....it is okay.
