    Trouble with iPad Air

    • Written by from Toronto

I love the look and feel of this controller overall and decided to order it, even though the details clearly didn't list the iPad Air as one of the supported iPads.

Since the connector was the same as the iPad 4th gen, I figured I'd give it a try. I also read the one previous review talking about how the iPad Air was used to test and besides it not sitting nicely in the included tray, it would be perfect.

I got it home unpacked and plugged it in, right away, noticed a clicking sound anytime I turned on the CUE or tried to prepare another track before sending it live (out to the main speakers) As long as the CUE was not in use, there is no clicking, but anytime you try to CUE a track, the clicking was back, no matter what I tried. I swapped cables and even bought all brand new ones thinking It may be my old RCA cables.. I even went as far as trying on a whole different stereo and amplifiers and the clicking during CUE was there.

No real answer as to why it happened except for the fact that the iPad Air is NOT one of the supported devices. I had to send it back and am keeping my fingers crossed that a newer version dedicated to the iPad Air will be release later this year. My setup is iPad Air (128 GB) + Algoriddim DJ 2 on iOS 7.

    DDJ-WeGO2 is a great product.

It works very well with iPad, Mac or PC.

Pioneer + Apple = Quality Products with beautiful design.

You will need to upgrade the firmware of the DDJ-WeGO2 to work well with the app djay 2 for iPad.

The iPad Air is smaller than iPad 2, 3 & 4. So it doesn't fit well at the dock of the DDJ-WeGO2.

You can use the AC power adapter of the iPad to turn DDJ-WeGO2 on.
