    One take away...

    • Written by from Gainesville

After owning this case for over a year, I have been very pleased. After just after a few months the plastic started to weaken around the ports area. Also, the snaps near the palm area are the first to go...since this is where you will be resting your arms when typing. BUT, this has been a GREAT case. I am very pleased with the thinness of this case and the durability that it can withstand.
ONE TAKE AWAY: for this case at (msrp) $99, it is worth EVERY penny. When I clean my case every so often do to dirt/dust, my Macbook Pro Retina looks brand new - out of the box. I have the late 2013 MPP Retina and not one scratch, even on the bottom rubbers. This also reminds me, the rubber feet on this case is great. Non-slip...for sure.
P.S. the only reason I give 4 stars, for a (msrp) $99 case, I would have expected it to withstand minimal wear and tear before showing it.

I love my macbook even more with this case

I should have bought the case even *before* I bought my 15" macbook pro with retina! The case is so beautiful, and it enhances the look and feel of my macbook. It feels very silky and durable, and I hope it can maintain that look and feel 4, 5 years from now.

Better than every snap on case out there!

    • Written by from San Diego

I have had every single snap on case and they were all terrible. Within one year, they were scratched up and cracked through the bottom. I was not excited to buy a new case for my new MacBook Pro, until I saw this one. I have the Tech 21 case for my phone, and was hoping for the same durability. This case is beautiful and appears like it will stand up to my busy grad school life. If it cracks, I will write a new review - so if you don't see another one from me regarding cracking, it hasn't cracked! I'm also stoked that it comes with a one year warranty. 4 stars for now because it's still new. If it stays durable, I will up this to a 5 star!

    I'm in love.

First I must say I adore the texture. This feels gorgeous in your hands, a very smooth and silky matte finish. As another reviewer mentioned, the unboxing is very nice, on par with Beats and Apple products proper for adding just that extra touch of detail even in the packaging.

One minor quibble is that there’s a tiny gap between the bottom of the case (in the middle) and the laptop. It’s not enough to actually cause a problem, but it can be noticeable if you press on the bottom in certain areas. However, it’s such a minor issue that it isn’t even worth dropping the rating for.

I haven’t had any problem with the case rubbing against my hands, and I think that boils down to what position you hold your hands in when you type. It’s really a well-made snap case, nothing jagged or messy or cheap about it, full access to all ports and vents, no problems connecting a charger. It installs easily but securely, going on in about a minute yet doesn’t have the feel it will come off at a moment’s notice either—you would genuinely have unhook all the little snaps where it connects to the laptop in order to remove it. If yours is wiggling around or loose, you probably haven’t snapped it on all the way ;)

The impact-absorbing texture inside the case leaves you feeling that much more secure if you lug your laptop around school or work. Hopefully someday OtterBox or Lifeproof will come out with a laptop case, but until then, this at least gives me a little more peace of mind against everyday bumps, scrapes, and tumbles. Color’s great too—I got the purple, which has very inconsistent coloring online. But it actually looks really beautiful in person, not too bright or too dark, and I love the way the Apple logo looks shining through it.

Definitely worth the cost! If you’re on the fence between the Impact and another snap case, go with this, it’s awesome.

    Worth the $

    I absolutely love this case!

First of all, it arrived just 48hr after ordering, which was great. Then just a quick glance at the picture instructions and I was able to snap it securely into place. The fit is superb (I have a 2014 MPR15); the matte finish looks and feels great.

It's also immediately apparent that the Tech21 Impact offers WAY more protection that most hard cases. By comparison, the Speck case on my old MacBook seems laughably flimsy (not to mention unattractive).

In response to comments from less positive reviews:
"The finish shows finger prints very badly." ... Well, yeah, if your hands are greasy. Basically, if your fingers are dirty enough to leave smears on your keyboard, you might leave fingerprints on the case. But they wipe up easily. (Or, I don't know, maybe you could wash your hands?)
"After a short period of time, the edge that clips on to the bottom of the computer rubs your palm raw." ... This probably just relates to where you orient your hands as you type/use the trackpad, but I have had zero issue with this.

Bottom line: Incredible quality. I didn't want to shell out $100, but now I couldn't be happier that I did!

    Premium Product!

    • Written by from Estevan

I received mine via mail within 5 days of ordering online, once at doorstep, 3 minutes later was on Mac.
Initially looking at it online, I was apprehensive thinking that it was too much of a "plastic" material.
Having it in my hands, it has more the consistency of a sturdy neoprene, flexes....is waterproof,
and would withstand minor impact....similar to a durable phone case.

I'm impressed with its simplicity of installation, and function.
    Highly recommend for basic protection.

    Nice Case

    • Written by from Greenwood

I purchased several of the "value" priced models from other sources, and each had flaws out of the box. I was also concerned about them rubbing the finish on my MacBook Pro. The Tech21 is certainly more expensive, but in my opinion worth the price. I purchased the clear model, and I think it looks good as well as having good quality. I think it should be a little less than the price it's listed at, but in my opinion a much better product than then other options.

This case is worth the money

    • Written by from Sacramento

If you're on the fence about shelling out the $100 for this case, I say go for it! I have had a tech 21 case on my samsung s4 since it was released and completely love it. When I recently got a MacBook Pro 15" I knew almost immediately that I had to get a good case to protect this beautiful machine. The first thing I did was google "macbook pro tech 21" in hopes that they were in the laptop case market as well as the phone case market. To my surprise, they were. The only problem was that none were available for almost a month when I checked back in late September. So, I spent some time daydreaming and scouring for reviews, leaving my MacBook unprotected until recently when I saw that they were finally in stock. Although some people gave it low stars, not sure why, I took the chance and bought myself a black one. I easily popped it on today and it fits super snug and looks awesome!! I was worried that the front where my wrists rest would be annoying, but it's not at all. It fits even better than I hoped and the impact technology gives me peace of mind.

    Tech21 Impact: An Absolute Must

    • Written by from Encinitas

Once I got my hands on my gorgeous to see and use 15" rMBP, I knew I had to get a case--but which one?

I watched YouTube reviews and read reviews which broke down like this: Speck and Moshi were the ones to get. Specks, however, scratch easily and the corner base platforms discolour. Moshi cases attract prints and streaks like a magnet, and also scratch pretty easily.

Then I discovered the Tech21. Not much is written about it and there aren't many video reviews, either. What convinced me were two things: 1) the durability and protective element to the product, and 2) it's drop-dead gorgeous.

The Tech21 features an impact gel to actually protect your case and not just cover it. This is essential if your investment doesn't just sit on a desk. The gel disperses impact energy into the case and away from your laptop. It's an unusual product that is designed for the preservation of your laptop from any potential accident where it falls or drops unexpectedly.

But is it good-looking? Oh, yeah! It fits like a custom-made glove, clipping onto your rMBP with surprising ease. And it stays put. The Apple logo illuminates from beneath the case (if that's important to you) and it looks super-cool. This product even feels like capital "Q" quality. It definitely possesses a style all it's own, which is largely based upon what it's designed to do, which is protect your computer. But it's look and feel are definitely a compliment to the beautiful design of the object it covers and protects (you have full range of motion for your screen, and access to all ports, etc. with the case affixed to the laptop).

Of course, it's more expensive than others. But, is it worth it? Yes, yes, yes! Absolutely. Other cases preserve your investment from cosmetic damage (largely to preserve its re-sale value). The Tech21 preserves your investment cosmetically AND physically, which is a whole other level of difference. The unboxing experience is also nice, so the Tech21 people are treating you to as close a "premium experience" as can be expected--and I appreciate that.

But the bottom line is this: if you want a case that's going to take great care of your laptop while looking great doing it--this is for you. Don't mess around. Get it. Got it? Good! You'll be glad you did. You can come back and thank me later!

Fits like a glove ... NOT!

    • Written by from Laveen

For $100 this case should fit snuggly and securely. The cover fits nicely but the bottom snaps are slightly misaligned. I can easily take the tabs and unhook it versus the cover case. I have tried to put the bottom cover on 3 different times and each time the same , so I know its not me misaligning it. Construction is Ok , but not sure it it is really all that shock absorbent as advertised. I wish I would have ordered a different case now, but I got the $100 apple gift card for purchasing macbook air 11" so I used it on this.

    Great case!

This is my second shell type case and this one is far better. It fits well with no obstructions to the computer. The screen has full-mobility from the hinges as well. Other than the price (think 100 bones is a bit much for a plastic mold, but o'well) it's a great case!

    Fits perfectly

    • Written by from Bothell

The case fits my 15 MacBook pro retina perfectly, and the case does not damage the finish during the install like some cases do. It will defiantly protect against incidental bumps but I would not wan to try the full drop test.... Overall I think this case is the best available for the MacBook pro.

    Functionally Superior and Visually Impressive

    • Written by from El Segundo

The impact snap case fits snugly against the machine from all angles and provides a very high level of coverage, with very clean cuts that expose fan air intake vents and ports. The case has not interfered with plugging in any of the devices I have used so far. Although thin and lightweight, the case feels sturdy and has afforded me the peace of mind to take my new MacBook Pro out into the world. Additionally, the case is very well-designed visually. When closed, it has the appearance of being a black MacBook with aluminum accents.

The case looks and feels nice, but the edge rubs your hand.

    • Written by from Poway

It looks great. However, after a short period of time, the edge that clips on to the bottom of the computer rubs your palm raw. It hurts. If they redesigned where the upper clip and the lower clip hit the computer; i.e. just move the location of the bottom clip closer to the outside edge of the computer, it would not rub your hand while using the track pad.

    Very, very disappointed.
