    Pairing issues

    • Written by from Dollard-des-Ormeaux

I've owned this scale for a little over a year. I've had consistent issues with pairing the device to Bluetooth but always eventually figured it out after numerous attempts. However, with my latest issue I was unable to find a blue tooth connection with any of my 4 apple devices. tech support is a joke, no phone, only emails, they proposed a factory reset which didn't solve the issue. Buyer beware!

    Withings Smart Scale

    • Written by from Long Beach

Decided to take the scale back based on one simple criteria: the scale requires an account with Withings, the scale's parent company. I expected the scale to pair with my device and communicate directly with Apple's iOS8 Health Kit app right out of the box. Instead, I'm required to download a 3rd party app. Installing the app solely to configure scale would be perfectly acceptable but this company [Withings] thinks it's acceptable to force their customers to sign up with their services just to use their device. Bottom line; I'll just get a stand alone scale and enter the data manually. I don't need a company like Withings potentially harvesting my data, a disgusting business practice. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Apple endorses this product.

    Dreadful product... Doesn't work

    • Written by from monmouth

This costs a lot of money. It doesn't work. The weight readings vary by up to 5kg every time I step on (even if that's a couple of minutes after the last time). Half the time, the fat monitor function fails to work at all. It's supposed to recognise me, but hardly ever does. How hard is it to test a product before putting onto the market, to make sure it actually works?

    Poor performing product

    • Written by from Los Angeles

This scale is supposed to seaminglessly integrate into iOS, however it performs very poorly with respect to wireless integration. The Bluetooth connection constantly dies and needs to be frequently restarted in order to communicate with my iPhone and transmit data. We have come to expect superior performance from products sold in Apple stores, and this scale falls far, far short. After struggling with the scale for two weeks, we decided to return it.

As good as this type of scale gets

    • Written by from Springfield

I've had the scale for 8 months now. Like many new technologies, the early adopters have to work through the kinks. As a scale, I believe it is highly accurate for weight measurement. As far as the body fat %, it's directional correct, but not precise. Like some of the earlier reviews, I've experienced connectivity issues with both wifi and bluetooth. As an example, when the batteries went dead, I had a hard time re-syncing the device with my phone.

That said, it is great to see your measurements logged on your phone and trended over time. Consider this scale if you need a new one or if you are looking for some inspiration to lose some weight. If your current scale works fine just stick with it.

    Inaccurate scale with terrible connectivity.

    • Written by from Seattle

I'm considering throwing this out with the trash. Not only does the Bluetooth connection fail after uploading data requiring reconnection when you need to upload a new reading, but the scale is wholly inaccurate.

I can live with bad connectivity but not an inaccurate weighing scale.

Last night I went to bed weighing 202.1, this morning I weighed 202.7. Either I was eating sandwiches in my sleep or this product is broken.

    Total waste of money.

    Complete waste of money.

    • Written by from Essen

The setup took me almost two days to succeed, the bluetooth connection gets lost some time and the scale puts itself into setup mode all the time. Ah, and not to forget: The sync between the app and the scale constantly fails (tried it with 3 different iOS devices and 1 Android device, by the way).
Withings shows how to make a miserable product from a great idea.
Not worth the money (or even ANY money). :(

Avoid This Product At All Costs

    • Written by from Isle of Palms

This is a bad product, and Apple should stop carrying it. I have purchased three, the most recent being a purchase I made when I saw that Apple stores were stocking the scale, which I took to be a sign that the prior problems have been solved. Be aware. They haven't. The app is very buggy, the scale keeps falling off Bluetooth, and all in all, the scale is a very poor product. Someone should be able to make a good scale that integrates with the iPhone. Plainly Withings can't or wont.

    Great Scale!

    • Written by from Idaho Springs

I don't understand all the negative reviews. I've had this scale for a year and it's worked wonderfully for me. Yes, the Co2 reading is a little wonky, but overall the scale itself works great and the app that comes with it works well, too. I especially like it now that it integrates with Health Kit.
If you can afford to spend $150, the scale is well worth it. I'd say the high price is the only real drawback.

Worst purchase of all time! ------------ STAY AWAY FROM WITHINGS!!

    • Written by from Hong Kong

From time to time, the withings scales will stop upload data for no reason.

The withings scales keep losing its setting, you'll be forced to re-do the setup regularly.

The weight measurement contain a 4~5 lbs error, depend on how far apart your feet were on the scale.

The heart rate measurement simply not accurate.

The withings app is worst app I ever used.

If you're looking for a smart scales, STAY AWAY FROM WITHINGS!!!

Nice idea but lacking execution and hence overpriced

    • Written by from Derby

I've had my scale for 6 months and has functioned reliably as a scale. Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity periodically drops off for no reason and has to be paired again each time. I agree that neither the scale accuracy nor precision is very tight, and I agree the body mass index reading is worthless. Temperature reading correlates with our programmable thermostat but I have no way of verifying the air quality reading. When it works, it's quite nice for our general, non-exacting personal weight tracking. But the irregular intervals that it drops (works 2 days to 2 weeks) has become quite annoying. Hence, the price has not lived up to the hype.

    totally worthless

    • Written by from San Francisco

No matter what I do and after researching for hours, I can't get the bluetooth connection to stick. I have to re-set it every time I weigh myself, completely defeating the purpose of purchasing the scale. Waste of $$ in every way.

Nice idea and graphics but can't weigh consistently

    • Written by from BRIGHTON

Title says it all. These are a nightmare- the weight they measure can vary by 5kg in 30seconds and also can't differenciate multiple users unless they are vastly different tried wth 3 can only tell 1 apart. Nice interface but if the scale changes by 5kg moving from one tile to another (they're all level). After the effect I've read few reviews and inability to weigh is a Fred so doubt it's one faulty unit

Well because of medical reasons I need something like this as I am under weight and the hospital need accurate daily recordings of weight and diet. I am now on my 5th one yes thats right my 5th one. I have just email my Apple rep and basically told him enough is enough. Yes the Bluetooth and Wireless connectivity has failed yet again rendering the scales totally useless. I have expressed my feelings to Apple and don't understand with all these negative comments why they don't take these and other Withings products off the shelves as they are no where near worth the money because the build quality of the electronics are totally useless. A note to all unhappy customers which I have found out is go and blast on Withings Facebook page they don't like it one bit trust me I think they even tried to block me cause I keep blasting there build quality and useless products. I am doing well 5 scales and 4 Pulses so far within 12 months.

Its only got 1 star because you can't post 0 stars so take this review as 0 star review

    Excellent Connected scale

    • Written by from Ashqelon

I purchased the scale 3 weeks ago.
It took me 2 minutes to connect it and since then it is working perfectly.
I almost didn't purchase it because of some bad reviews here.
Maybe the bad reviews related to an older version.

It's a pretty good gimmick if you like to track your progression and all. I am having issues with it reading my HR. I have been emailing CS about this issue and they have been instructing me on a variety of potential solutions to help fix this problem.
So right now, nothing has worked but I will try again to see if I can get it function as advertised. It has something to do with the firmware and I need to update it. The bollocking continues......

    Lost connectivity

    • Written by from Dartford

Had these scales for a week. The scales have lost connectivity twice in that timeframe and its not syncing with the app. Its a great concept, but seems poorly implemented. I'm going to return them to Apple as I just can't be bothered logging support calls and wasting time. It really should work straight out of the box as advertised.

Definately not problem fee! Think twice!!

    • Written by from BARCELONA

So far I am VERY disappointed by this expensive (€150) device!

    - The installation of the scale was a lot of work. Didn't work really well, kept loosing connection, reconnect, update, reconnect, pair etc.etc.etc..
    - the pair button on the back of the device does not function properly, so I need to keep trying for several minutes before it al of a sudden post on.
    - manual is useless, because there is hardly anything in it.

Finally it is set and I start trying to log some steps and weight measurements.
    - Health Mate app is not working. It crashed after having it on for only one day (on my iPhone 5). I was not able to recover the app, only by removing it and reinstalling I t again. Let's see how long it will last....
    - Weight seems to be done ok, but the heart rate is absolute bogus! Please improve this Withings, if it can be improved via software!
    - I like the extra of the air quality! ....but is it correct and is the outcome consistently ok?
    - connecting with Endomondo does not work.
    - despite explicit referral to Apple Health connectivity, connecting with Apple Health does definately NOT work!

Now I read a lot of comments now about the device breaking down after a few months, which makes me wonder if I should have bought it in the first place?
I guess I will only try for a few days and bring it back asleep if it does not work properly.
It cost me €150,- so it should definitely work perfectly for that price!!
