    things you need to know

    • Written by from Oxford

fundamentally it does what it's supposed to however:

The super slippery Teflon like surface means it's difficult to hold. I haven't dropped my I-phones in 4 years but dropped this twice within a week of getting it. At least it protected the phone so works as a protective case.

As well as this it doesn't have a standard Apple connector which means you can't use your apple charger or any device designed for the phone without removing the base.

These are two glaringly obvious and significant design faults. If I had realised this I wouldn't have bought it.

    Good but.....

It works and we've had Mophies for several years but quality is an issue, smooth finish (slippery) is as well. Adapter for the ear buds ceased functioning after 4 months: it can't take the rigors of movement. We've always had one issue or another with our cases and with the adapter and the excessively smooth finish of the case, my wife and I have both cracked our glass because it slid effortlessly off of our leg, out of her purse, a jacket pocket, out of our hands, etc. Yep, we're both Type A business people but with our previous cases for our 4s that were more non-skid, we never had an issue. So, live and learn, we'll look for a better solution so we don't break the bank. Maybe I overlooked the non-skid case somewhere and will try again. I was able to buy another adapter online - better quality.

    Short and Sweet

I haven't had an issue with my Mophie case, it is pretty sturdy and gives me around an extra 80% battery life which is nice, but it scratches up the metal on my iPhone 5 which really annoys me.

Great product - no longer certified????

    • Written by from Thornhill

I love the Juice Pack Helium, great for those who are heavy users and can't get through the day on a single charge.

However, today I got a very disturbing message while my phone was charging.

"This accessory may not be supported" was on my lock screen. How can this not be supported when it is a certified device being sold through Apple?!?!??! I am only giving three stars since I am afraid that one day I may no longer be able to charge my phone properly through the Juice Pack (other devices suffer this fate when this message appears). If this happens, then this product is a brick and useless.

    Quick heads up

    • Written by from Hebron

The USB cord that came with the mophie does not work with the piece that came with iPhone 5 to connect it to the wall I tried using the wall piece that I got from previous Verizon phones and it worked fine. This not necessarily a complaint but more of a heads up

Good At Charging - Not Durable

    • Written by from Auburn Hills

The case it self is great for charging your phone. However, it gets scratched up very easily and the first layer of paint peels away to expose a lighter silver color below.

In terms of a size difference... its noticeable. If you don't think so take the case off for a day and you will realize how much thicker and longer the case makes the phone.

Also, the speakers are nice as they direct the sound towards you instead of straight out from the normal iphone speakers.

Doesn't work with USB car connection

    • Written by from FAIR LAWN

I have an iPhone 5 and it works fine with the lightning to USB cable connected to my car, a Nissan Pathfinder 2011. The sound plays trough the radio and the system recognize the iPhone as an iPad device with navigation car control and so on. Life was perfect.

When I bought a Helium battery case from mophie I got a problem. the iPhone with the case connected to the USB connector of the car doesn't work as it used too. No audio is coming through the USB system. Neither the device is recognized as an iPod device as it usually happens when i connect the iPhone without the case.

The case plugs into the iPhone with the standard lightning connector, but the USB output is converted to a mini USB plug. Obviously something is missing in translation.

To solve this problem I need to connect the iPhone through the Aux input using the headphone connector plus another cable to charge the iPhone while I'm driving. Messy and not elegant solution.

The audio headphone connector is a problem too, the hole is too narrow and deep. Bad design solution. And the adapter is a bad patch solution waiting to be lost at any time.

Battery performance is according to what the manufacturer promises, 80% of charge.

    Good so far

    • Written by from Kissimmee

Battery is awesome, it charge very fast from 1% to 70% in 25 mins or so. The case looks extremely beautiful it feels nice and it does not add a lot of wight to the phone. My 3 stars are because the quality of the product is not good I got it last week and it started to peel off :/ the painting is falling apart from all over the case.

Not as good as the previous cases for the 4s

    • Written by from Irvine

Got this unit and within 7 days, the bottom piece outer case split from the inner case and bits flew out. the on/off switch was too loose to begin with and it switched on inadvertently. I contacted Mophie, which quickly replaced my unit. Overall, not a bad unit. It is a nice sturdy case with the power to extend the battery almost by 2 times.

Good charging case - one small issue

    • Written by from Lawrenceburg

I'm really liking the case and its easy to use. When I get low on battery, I just flip the switch and I'm charging again. The LED indicator lights with remaining battery power are a nice touch too. Like some others here, I had the problem with the loose fitting and I had to jiggle the bottom for it to start charging. Instead of sending it back, I took the phone out and put a very thin piece of rubber inside of the case, where the back of the phone would rest. This keeps the phone nice and snug and I don't have the charging issues anymore. Even with the phone in my pocket. I'm not sure how this problem got by Mophie's QA guys. Still its a nice case though, but I shouldn't have to go the extra mile to fix Mophie's problems. Would easily be 5 stars with the loose fit issue.

Headphone jack hard to get to

    • Written by from Lebanon

Battery power numbers are accurate, case is a bit long but a nice smooth design. Headphone jack is hard to get to directly; included is a 2" long audio extender cable, a bit annoying having to carry this cable with the phone (it all stems from Apple changing the headphone jack to the bottom, but a pass-through jack that ends flush to the outer layer of the case would've been much cleaner.

    Liked the previous version better

    • Written by from Memphis

I just purchased the new Helium because I loved my juice pack for the 4S. I expected it to be identical with maybe a couple of improvements, but to be honest I feel like you get less.

The case is well made and my phone fit inside the case really well. It has a nice crisp closing which makes the phone feel very secure. The form is nice and the grip on the back is soft and easy to hold onto.

The real problems with the case are the things I knew about it going into it but thought I could overlook. The phone will not sync using the supplied USB cable. It requires wireless syncing which takes much longer. The weird thing is that the case for the 4S did sync with the supplied cable. The other thing is that I thought carrying around the adapter for headphones wouldn't be a big deal, but to be honest it got annoying quick. I always was looking in my bag for it eventually left them connected to the headphones. The cord is thick though and couldn't be easily bent (plus for it being beefy, but not good for stowing away).

I have been really waiting for this case to come out and was pretty disappointed in the design changes made to it.
