    Expected great sound but

    • Written by from Vancouver

The first thing I found was that the sound quality was poorer than the standard iPhone earbuds. For the price I expected them to sound at least as good if not better. I got just about one hour's worth of play with them and then I got 'powering off' - with no warning they shut down. I tried to power on, nothing. I tried charging them again (after doing so the night before), nothing. They are on their way back. For the money I expect to get a good quality product.

    Great sound

Very good sound and once you find the right fit, they are very enjoyable for training, plus they give lots of freedom. Battery last long.

    Destined for your junk drawer

    • Written by from Blacksburg

I bought these a month and a half ago. I had to replace them a week after i bought them because the first set refused to take a charge. I thought it was a fluke. Six weeks later my second set has done the same thing. I decided to google "jaybirds won't take a charge" and lo and behold there is a world of folks out there who have bought these headsets and are holding a hundred and fifty dollar pair of junk. The sound IS good but if they aren't working that isn't much of a recommendation. There appears to be a battery design flaw and no one wants to admit to that so they blame everything from the charger to improper usage to anything else that keeps them from admitting they are selling junk.

    Great!-ish.

    • Written by from new york

I'd say these are the best you're going to get for bluetooth headphones - sound is really good, they're comfortable, lightweight, and super convenient. really, amazing idea.

i do have some issues with the design, which unfortunately detracts from the quality. one being the cable tie method in the back (they cables will eventually slide out very easily - i ended up having to tape the cables in place)

the other thing is the way the earplugs slide on to the unit. they pop off. the little ear shield part as well, there is nothing to actually hold it on aside from the friction of the rubber and plastic, so they will eventually fall off and you lose them. I had a pair of these for about a year, and now the left speaker has blown. these do good sound deadening, so i don't even listen to them loud.

I also had an issue where the power button simply wouldn't work unless i plugged them in to usb for a moment. i would have them on the charger at work, i would unplug them and walk to the train, try to turn them on and nothing. as if the battery was completely drained. when this happens, if i momentarily plug them in to USB and unplug them again, they will then turn on, and last me the life of the battery. just kind of a weird glitchy thing that happened off and on.
basically, just some quality control issues and some not-so-thought-out design choices that frustrate me.

that said, i need a pair of bluetooth in-ear headphones, and these are the best option...so im off to buy another pair now.

    The Worst

These are the worst ear buds ever. I am an ultra runner. They have not stayed in my ears more than five steps. EVER!.

Do not buy and thank GOD for Apples return Policy!

    When they work, they're great

    • Written by from Allen

When they work, the sound and quality is great. I've had multiple issues with them not working. Not holding a charge, and then Jaybirds the company hasn't been that responsive. I love the no wires, but this is the third brand of BT headphones and I may have to go back to the dreaded wires.

    LOVE THEM!!

    • Written by from Valley

Best head phones ever. I hated working out and getting the wire of regular head phones caught on stuff. I did have to buy different ear pieces, the 'Comply Foam Tips' work perfect with these! I probably charge my headphones once a week as I use them at the gym for 4-5 days a week, for the physical size of them, I think thats a fantastic battery life! They look great on as well, some of the other bluetooth head phones are kind of bulky. Overall, Love Love Love!

    Two pairs stopped working

First pair stopped working because of sweat damage. Just recently the second pair died for no reason. Hard to get a good fit for premium sound . Support is excellent though.

    1st really usable bluetooth headsets

    • Written by from Sarasota

Tried many bluetooth headsets over the last several years. Always had many problems to make them unusable, such as connecting, poor battery life, uncomfortable, etc. These ones are perfect. I just put them on, turn them on and they work every time. Used for wide variety of exercises. Highly recommend.

    Painful Earbuds

    • Written by from Foothill Ranch

These headphones were introduced to me by my wife. She uses them for work and initially she really loved them. She encouraged me to get some so I did. I returned them in ten days because they hurt. In order to block out all the background noice, I had to literally shove them deep down into my ear canal. By the end of the day I was in pain. Besides that, everyone on the receiving end of my calls mentioned that they could hear even the cars driving by my house loudly. Just honest food for thought. I did not like them.

    Good Performance

    • Written by from Las Cruces

Generally, I think these are very good wireless ear buds. They've been very easy to use. The sound quality is acceptable, the range is decent, and the battery life, while not quite as long (in my hands) as advertised, is still adequate for my purposes. I rarely give 5 stars, so 4 a good rating. I replaced the rubber fittings with foam fittings which improved the comfort of the ear buds in my ear. They're kind of pricey, but I'd recommend the product.

    Best Bluetooth headphones

    • Written by from Toronto

These are my fifth (!) pair of Bluetooth headphones and my 3rd pair for sports activities. These are *by far* the best Bluetooth headphones I've used for running. Unlike most sub-compact pairs of Bluetooth headphones - they do not experience annoying signal dropouts if your transmitting device is not within perfect line of sight. The sound quality is almost identical to regular sports in-ear headphones. Battery life is good - about three hours for me. I recharge after every use - so far no problems with shortened battery life. I use with the iPod Nano and the iPad. My only quibble is that the little ear support braces fall off easily when removing the headphones. You have to remove the earphones carefully so as not to lose them.

    Very very cool

    • Written by from Wasaga beach

Streaming radio from my iphone gives superior quality. Great job to Jaybird's team. Takes a bit of trial and error to set up the ear piece to fit correctly in your ear at first only, but once you got it, its a very good tight fit. I was expecting a low quality sound with BT, but turned out the opposite. If its pricey for you, check for discount coupons...promo codes. All in all, quite happy with them and I would certainly recommend them. They also come with a great carrying case.

    Amazing Headphones by Jaybird

    • Written by from Centennial

Jaybird Bluebuds X are the best headphones I've ever owned. I'm incredibly impressed with them! They have great battery life, excellent ergonomics, and fabulous sound quality. The fact that there are no cords attaching to my phone all day is the biggest reason I like these, but having everything else I mentioned earlier makes it all just better, too. I just keep them around my neck all day. If I'm wearing a collared shirt, I put the cord under my collar with my tie. Can't get better convenience than that. I can't recommend these enough to those who want to listen to music whenever they feel like it and don't want to fiddle around with the cord getting all caught in clothes and tangled on itself. Bluebuds X are an excellent product.

    Sound good, USB cable faulty

    • Written by from Suwanee

I picked this up as a replacement for a set of Bowers & Wilkins C5 thinking I'd like a nice BT headset. They sounded very nice, fit seemed good, although I wasn't able to use the ear locking things. I'm not sure how well they would stay in if I got hot and started sweating. My problem was with the USB cable. The first time I tried to charge them, the metal end of the cable plugged into the charger broke off when I pulled the cable out. For the price of these, I would have expected better quality.

Awesome look, average sound, low bass, expensive!!! A tip for runners!

    • Written by from Haarlem

For those actually reading beyond the title, I use headphones for running and cycling. I used to have wired Westone 3, with 3 dedicated drivers and a sound out of this world. Then I washed them with my running clothes.

For biking I need something wireless and I understand the limitations of Bluetooth technology. I used the Jabra bluetooth headphones and while not as cool looking as the JayBirds, the sound was not much worse. Mind you, they cost €20!

While I can afford €179.95 JayBirds, I am disappointed that their sound profile is rather average and lacking on the bass. I am not looking for a replacement of +€400 Westone's. But I'd really appreciate a more bass in the Jaybirds.

The fit and over the ear wear is fine, they are secure while biking or running (did 19km run with them no problem). They do not tire the ear even after 2-3 hrs which is nice.

A tip for runners, if the signal is falling out while having the iPhone on one arm, try switching the arm on which you wear the iPhone. It went from dropping the signal on my right hand to 100% perfection while wearing it on my left hand. So yes, the connection stays stable.

Would these be €50-70 I'd accept all the shortcomings, but at €179.95 they are insanely overpriced.

    Couldn't get fit to work

    • Written by from Vancouver

Had these headphones for a couple of weeks. I've concluded I can never get used to the fit. They won't sit correctly, resulting in loss of bass. Decided to sell oh craigslist and get another over the ear type. Some people may get the fit to work for them, but many including me could not. Try before you buy.

    Horrible fit

    • Written by from San Francisco

Maybe these headphones just aren't for me. I mean, the earbuds don't really fit that well. I have to push them in to hear the low notes. And even then, the sound isn't incredible. The sales guy at the Apple store told me he ordered some memory foam tips that improve sound quality. I m-a-y give them a try. But after reading the reviews about sweat, I may be better off just returning them and finding different ones. I'll be returning them tomorrow.

    Worse fitting design ever

    • Written by from Chicago

I bought these to replace a set of motorola blutooth headphones that I used for working out and running. They were great. Lasted a long time. These however don't fit in my ears. They come with different fittings. Tried them all wearing them the different styles. They keep slipping out of my ears while working out. Biggest waist of $170 ever spent. If planning on wearing these and working out. Don't waist your money.
