    HP Envy Review - Apple Team let's get down it!

    The Good!
    a. Design: One of the best in the market + size is great.
    b. Print quality is very good, not better then Epson Artisan but works.
    c. Double sided prints.
    d. AirPrint from any Apple iPhone, Mac or iPad.
    c. Face side up scanning, very cool! Scan bed is at top of scanner and not at bottom.
    d. Wifi scan
    e. Touch Pad controls
    The Bad
    a. The price_I would have giving it 4 stars. You have to pay to play.
    b. no multi paper option
    c. no CD print, but that OK!
    d. Apps can only be deleted after you register to HP site.

    Terrible product

    I am computer engineer and I am used to work with computer every day.
    This piece of equipment and software is just terrible.
    Here's a list of the problems I have encountered:
    - I need to fight with the printer sometime for hours to print anything.
    - The display on the printer flickers and dies
    - Is it sometime impossible to shut down the printer properly. I need to pull the plug.
    - It is so slow.

    It will be impossible to sell the printer. It is impossible to do a viable demo with this product. I will have to buy something else.
    Stay away from these cheap HP printers.

    Broke

    Was nice until I slightly knocked the swiveling tray that holds the paper once it is printed. It now doesn't print. Frustrating because I generally treat my tools with great care. Too fragile.

    Fundamental Design Flaws

    This may be the worst thing HP ever produced! I got exactly 2 scans out of this all-in-1 before it broke down. And HP knows it's flawed, as their error message window popups say (paraphrasing) "if you got a scan error and tried this and tried that, then your scanner is broken". Anything possessing such fundamental design defects that the vendor feels compelled to document how to tell when it's broken should be avoided at all costs. Truly awful!

    Worst printer ever

    Bought it for its modern looking. It won't turn on after 5 months use. Only printed max 20 pages on this machine. They sent a new one to me to replace the broken machine, but 2nd week after I received it, it broke again. Same problem, won't turn on. It's total piece of garbage.don't waste your money on it. Apple store should never recommended this product.

    Avoid like the plague

    Simply does not work; gone through three units. Every-time that HP issues a Software or Firmware update it will no longer function. Don't be confused by it's looks; pass at all cost.

    Move on to another printer

    Very simply - you have to jump through hoops to figure out how to scan from the printer to a MacBook Pro. Per the Internet, many others have this problem but finding the solution is next to impossible. Why Apple is marketing it for use with their products and why HP markets it for use with Mac is beyond me when this major problem exists. At least put the solution on your websites. Very aggravating.

    Great Printer - Very Happy

    I usually don't write reviews but I am surprised to see so many bad reviews so I thought I would offer my two cents. We have had the ENVY for nearly six months now. Overall we love it. Have had to change the ink cartridges once so far. I think this printer is ideal for people who need a printer that can do most anything (scan, color print, wireless, email, etc.) but doesn't get major amounts of use. We print probably 5 pages a day tops. I like the design and size of it. It's sleek and unassuming so it can be placed out of the way. I like how I can email the printer to have things print from my phone. It can download pictures and games that it prints out for our kids (but this can get annoying if its on subscription mode and they keep printing all the time.) Overall if you aren't printing a novel on this its a pretty great and sleek printer.

    This product is actually a lot better then I expected. It looks clean and simple was easy to setup. It print's great, and of course I take care of my items since I love technology. So I have not had any issue with the product.

    Problems? Not at our house...

    I bought this printer for use in our home because I liked the look. It sits on a bookshelf and looks more like a DVD Player than a printer. We've had ours for almost a year and have had no significant problems. The one area where things haven't been perfect is wireless transmission of scanned documents to my MacBook Pro. That has been spotty. So, I scan and save on a flash drive and walk it across the room. I can live with that.

    Print quality is good. Wireless connection is good. When our kids came at Christmas, they were able to easily connect their computers to the printer and print out documents too. I am very pleased with this printer.

    I Love this Printer!!

    This printer has been flawless! Setup was very straight forward and simple and it takes up much less room than the standard printers do which is a good thing!! I print a lot of text and a fair amount of pictures and both have met my expectations. The scan feature works well and I like the feature of being able to see what your scanning thru the clear top. Have had no problems at all with this printer and would recommend it without reservations.

    Great Stylish Printer!

    If you need a fast, high volume printer buy something else. I needed a compact and sleek printer for personal use and gave the Envy 100 a chance. Since then I have purchase the Envy 110 & 120 for three different properties. I am not an engineer and only have everyday user knowledge. All three generations have been flawless in setup with a walk-thru tutorial that a child could understand. The printer is as good looking as a fine piece of electronics only an audiophile can appreciate. I will use this printer for an occasional photo but for numerous higher volume I go to my Photosmart. I've never had a breakdown with any generation but I don't have little ones playing with my equipment.

    Overpromised, underdelivered

    I'm on my second HP Envy, as the first one was bricked due to a pushed firmware update from HP. HP was nice enough to replace it at the time, but now out of warranty, I doubt if they will be so generous. Ownership now feels like a time bomb: if they choose to push out another firmware update without thoroughly vetting it, it may be as irrecoverable.

    Daily operation is treacherous. The touch display lags and has too much crapware loaded by default (some of which can be removed). Sometimes it randomly spazzes out concerning when to deploy the print capture tray arm. Configuration to WiFi can be a little fussy.

    Features I do like is the overall appearance (it looks more like a home entertainment device than a printer). Air Printing support is convenient. It's reasonably fast and quiet when printing.

    Knowing what I know now, if I was in the printer market, I'd shop for something else.

    FRUSTRATING!!!

    I purchased this printer because of its sleek design and because of its wireless capabilities. Every single time I try to print from my Macbook I have to re-enter the password on the printer for my internet service because the printer automatically disconnects itself. On my iPad and iPhones it shows as a printer option, however, when I attempt to print both devices there's no airprinter available. It is such a beautifully designed frustrating piece of equipment.

    NO technical service at HP available

    After 1 year, the scanner/copy lamp stopped working. Product still in warranty. We tried everything to get help from HP: HP customer service, technical service, chat, self-help, etc. etc. - We wasted hours without any results.
    Strongly recommend NOT to buy HP product(s)

    Save Your Money & Time

    I have always bought HP printers but this one does not live up to the HP standard. It worked well for about a month but then the problems started. It doesn't recognize my imac or loses communications when I try to scan or print. I have to keep cutting it off & on to get it going again. When I try to print from my iPad 2 and MacBook Pro it freezes up. It is just not reliable. The best thing about it that it makes a great copy machine!

    Mostly excellent.

    I've owned this printer for nearly a year, I believe, and for a very long while it functioned flawlessly. At some point Apple made some OS changes that I accepted for my iMac, and this printer started becoming essentially invisible to my iMac as a networked printer. It was still the default printer, and existed as the only printer/scanner in my settings, but the print jobs just wouldn't go across, and the printer would show as "not connected" on the print queue. Toggling the WiFi on the printer (as another review mentions) clears up the problem temporarily.

    HP had an updated driver for the printer, and I happily installed it, thinking that they must have encountered the network recognition failures. Well, no improvement. Meanwhile, computers in my home with every version of Windows imaginable had no trouble finding the printer on the Wireless network--so I simply turned on the Wifi for my ethernet-connected iMac, and sure enough, no trouble printing wirelessly at all. Which is a fantastic workaround, and I hope the woman who posted on March 14 of this year (to mention this issue) sees my comments and derives some assistance from them. I doubt she'll be getting too much other than this workaround from either HP or Apple, both of which apparently have bigger fish to fry.

    Excellent Printer, Don't Know why the bad reviews

    I have owned this printer since December 2013, and its an excellent printer. Very sleek, and modern, prints borderless, and double-sided, and ink is inexpensive. Very compatible with my IPhone, and Ipad. The only thing is that you have to set-up the wireless network correctly, or else you will have problems, like all the other reviews. Once I set it up correctly, everything has been smooth as silk, and not once did I have a problem. One of the best printers out there.

    I want my money back

    The only reason I gave this printer 3 stars is because when it works it works well.

    I purchased this printer one year ago and in that year I have had 5 replacements. The first replacement (new) was after only 3 weeks because the scanner stopped working. The second replacement (reconditioned) was after 9 months because the display stopped working in the down position. The third replacement (reconditioned) was because the scanner stopped working, and the fourth replacement (reconditioned) arrived with the scanner not working! It took 14 days and lengthy telephone calls to finally get a new printer. Fingers crossed for this one but I'm not holding my breath. I have now taken out an extended warrantee but to be honest I wish I had insisted upon a refund.

    I have to say the customer service at HP is good but I do hate paying for premium rate calls especially when the calls usually last for over 30 minutes a time.

    This is the first and last time I will pay a lot for a printer. The cheeper printers I have had in the past have never given me any trouble.

    Happy with HP Envy Printer

    After nearly a year of use, I have to say that this printer has worked generally well. Today I used the e-FAX for the first time to the IRS, no less, and it worked flawlessly. As others have noted, this printer is not for people who have large batch printing needs. The paper tray holds very little paper and has to be changed frequently. I consider that a reasonable trade-off for the sleek look and smaller size which we absolutely love. Scanning and Faxing is, of course, one page at a time. But the printer is a great solution for those of us with normal home printing/faxing/scanning jobs and where rough usage is not an issue. A strong wifi signal is also helpful if using wireless connection. Yes, we would absolutely purchase again.
