Works as expected

My only complaint with the system is I live in an apartment complex on the third floor and sometimes, most of the time, my geofencing doesn't work which mean my lights don't turn on when arriving home. Well with a hand full of groceries and the nearest switch in the kitchen this can be a nuisance. With the tap I place it right inside my front door and when I get home I choose my scene and bam lights are one. I also like using the giant button to turn the lights off at night and when I leave, instead of having to get my phone out. I can't wait to see what Philips does with Homekit in iOS 8 but if you're debating on buying the tap I would say go ahead and do it! Totally worth it and works as expected..... Oh and no AA batteries required!!!! …

Perfect Hue light switch
If you have the Hue system this light switch is a must have. It can be mounted anywhere or carried around, can be set for 3 scenes If you have the Hue system this light switch is a must have. It can be mounted anywhere or carried around, can be set for 3 scenes in addition to powering all the lights off, and it requires zero batteries to operate. That's right, it runs on the energy it gets from you pushing the button. I put mine in a hallway and set it for an all lights on scene, a night time scene, and a movies scene. I have 6 bulbs split in 2 rooms and I love using the Tap to control them all. I like that I can reprogram it if I change my mind without having to rewire my apartment. By the way the mounting is easy, it has 2 stickies on the back, just peel them off and stick it to the wall. I'm writing this review after using it for a little while, I'll update this if things change but right now it has earned 5 stars from me. …

Not a proper solution for a regular switch
I really like the Hue concept. The bulbs are of very good quality and so is the quality of the lighting itself. Because it's not a I really like the Hue concept. The bulbs are of very good quality and so is the quality of the lighting itself. Because it's not always possible or convenient to use a smartphone to switch on the lights, e.g. when your neighbor comes into your house to feed your cats, Philips came with the Hue Tap.
Technically it works like a dyno torch, so you won't be needing batteries. Pushing a button creates its own energy. You can put the Hue Tap anywhere on your wall using provided tape or screws: no cables required. Due to this technique sometimes you need to press the button twice, because it doesn't properly respond. Lights won't come on or a wrong scene will be activated.
But where do you place the Hue Tap? Next to your regular switch? With a different design? Which switch will your visitor use? In practice: the wrong one most of the time. So they use the main switch to turn everything off and your Hue Tap (and geofencing) doesn't work anymore.
The Hue Tap is made of plastic and to be honest: it feels a bit cheap. Also the 'click' sounds 'made in China'. I would very much prefer a high quality switch which you can place in your regular socket, so all switches look the same. …

Great addition to my Hue setup!
No cables, no batteries, awesome! This thing makes switching between lights so much quicker than finding or pulling out my phone o No cables, no batteries, awesome! This thing makes switching between lights so much quicker than finding or pulling out my phone or iPad or logging in the the hue website. Programming it is a breeze.
Occasionally it won't react for a second but then I'll hit another button and back to the one I intended to hit and it works fine. But thats rare. Maybe once out of 50 presses.
I'm happy with my purchase. Although, I feel the price is a bit high for this and all the Hue products, I do understand that they are amazing and Philips knows it. …
