Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
on the decline and OS leopard problems
Written by PO from London

I too am having the 'memory leak' and have to relog into multiplayer every 10 mins.
the numbers of servers and players seem to be on the decline, there a lot of hacks out there too and i'm sure punkbuster isn't picking some up. it was a fantastic game but is rapidly losing its appeal.5 of 11 people found this useful

Problems in Snow Leopard
Written by PF from EXMOUTH
22-Sep-2009
COD4 is a great game especially in Multiplayer. Unfortunately after upgrading the OS to Snow Leopard the sound and graphics started to break up after about 10 minutes in multiplayer mode. Having browsed through the Apple forums I can see its a problem not confined to myself, something about a memory leakage. I enjoy playing the game on line so I have reverted my OS back to 10.5.4 (Leopard) until Aspyr issue a patch. At the moment I think they are denying a problem exists. I feel they will need to address it though as I am sure any new Mac's sold will come with Snow Leopard pre-installed, making the game in Multiplayer mode obsolete!! 5****'s for the game 1* for not keeping up with Apples new OS.

i was reading through the comments and i have to say cod 4 is one of the best ego shooters i played. i liked the single mode but it was very quick. i suggest go buy it and just enjoe the online gaming witch is amazing.
its good when you can find a nice server to play on.
i love the custom maps when player itself create a map and you can play on. the verriaty in this game is amazing from rpg to sniper or pumpgun to rifle.

Call of duty 4 is a stunning and thrilling game featuring some of the best online gaming experiences money can buy. I personally play COD4 on xBox 360 but now i'm sure it will be just be its normal award-winning self on the mac.

About call of duty 4
Written by RB from Norwich
17-Mar-2009
I was really excited when i got the game after very quick delivery, as i had only played cod 4 on xbox at friends houses. I wasn't too happy with the graphics at first but had a go with the system settings and was satisfied at what my mac was producing on the screen. If you wanted to (and it would make a big difference) would be to get a more powerful graphics card to shove in your mac to give the games full potential. With the graphics that comes standard it can just run the game at full power but the game gets very laggy in busy situations with lots happening. The gameplay itself is amazing. Actual missions look amazing, especially on a 24 inch screen, (which i am running and advise other people to run), with huge variety of weapons from tiny scorpions to huge calibre barrett rifles. Ranging across the SAS and USMC in many different countries covering immense sized levels with plenty to keep you busy! Online is further mind bashing as it offers you the chance to customize your weapon and have 5 weapon classes and offering many special abilities to be unlocked as you climb through the ranks to level 55!
Overall i am immensly impressed with the end product being brought to the mac, am only hoping they bring out call of duty 5 for mac sooner than later! (i would very much like to get a copy of it!)24 of 27 people found this useful

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
A great buy!
Written by AF from manchester

This game is an excellent buy. An endearing storyline in single player, which can be played more than once. However, the highlight of this game is the SUPERB online multiplayer, with great maps, great guns, and interesting mods, like paintball and zombies. I personally prefer this to World at War, so I'm not disappointed about its lack of an appearance on the Mac. Performance-wise, the game runs really well on my 3.06Ghz iMac, with 70-100fps at 1920x1200 resolution and settings high enough to put an Xbox or PS3 to shame. I suggest you buy this game asap.

Just got this to run on my first Mac (MB Pro 15" - late 2008).
Graphics and game play are fantastic and on-line MP is truly spectacular.

You must buy this!
Written by SB from Kendal

Call of Duty 4 has absolutely staggering graphics and playability. Its more a simulation than a game!. The only disappointment for me is the latest World At War version has not been released on MAC yet. I'm not sure why because its the perfect platform for this series. If you are considering COD 4 just go ahead and get it. It is superb!

Loved this game

This is by far the best game I've played on the mac! The game is easy to pick up and get into but difficult to master. I was a bit wary of running this on my old macbook (dual core 2.4 with Intel graphics card) but if you turn the resolution down a few notches it's smooth enough, I'd guess running at about 20-30fps on average. Recommended.

Great, but...

On single player and easy skill level, finished in about 9 hours total play time.
Multiplayer works well and the graphics on my Macbook Pro 2.16ghz with 2gb ram, x1600 card works well on default settings.
Would like this game even better if you could select your weapons and just roam about doing whatever.11 of 12 people found this useful

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
No longevity, so not value for money
Written by MT from Worthing
02-Dec-2008
As other reviewers have said, great graphics, good game play. But you follow the game rather than be part of it and it's too easy and quick to complete even at hard core levels. Once finished, then what?
On-line play is, like COD2, limited to small arenas. I was hoping for a sort of super-COD Unlimited but just got an updated COD2 - which I found harder and lasted longer.6 of 13 people found this useful

Good but not great

Good fun to play and lots of action. At times too much action and too fast paced I thought. Whole game took me 9 hours to finish. A bit fast I thought. Graphics are stunning, but runs quite slow on my new Unibody Macbook Pro 2.5. I was expecting it to run better on this new computer. Multiplayer has lots of servers though, that I'll be trying out next.

Good but quick
Written by RT from BRIGHTON

Im no hardcore gamer, so my skills are only fair, and I managed to get through this game in 8 hours. Was expecting alot more than the game gave. compared to COD2 Its loses every time. Story line a bit convoluted and feels like your following the game not exploring it. Concidering the power of Macs now I was suprised how low res it was on an 8core G5 . Still enjoyed it but have considered returning it due to lack of longevity. : (

Where did the time go?
Written by BA from EDINBURGH

As a big fan of MOH and previous call of duty titles I was really looking forward to this game and I was not disappointed. Most of the action comes thick and fast but with some quieter sections also. I do not have the fastest mac in the world but the game ran very smoothly on my basic iMac 23. My only disappointment was that CoD4 seemed too short or maybe I was just having such a good time I did not notice the hours go by.
