    Very nice case BUT

    • Written by from Stockton on tees

I had two of these ... The problems are
    1) The plastic breaks around the charging point and thus it become ill fitting leading to
    2) The Holes intended for the mic dont match the ones in the case and thus the other party can't hear you while talking on the phone !!!!

    Badly done Apple

    • Written by from HARPENDEN

A fabulous case is very badly let down by its design, which is totally incompatible with other current Apple products for the same phone. The holes for earphones and the lightning are very small. I've tested a number of earphones currently on sale in Apple stores and some don't even fit through the hole in this case! Worse, the hole for the lightning connector will only accommodate the USB-to-lightning cable. With the case fitted, it is impossible to slot the phone onto a dock stand or to plug in Apple's own 30-pin to Lightning adapter.. If I didn't need to plug things in, I'd award 4 or 5 stars. As it happens, I do, so it's only 1 for the total lack of consistency in product design! I'm tempted to go back to Microsoft.

    looked good for one week.

    • Written by from Hailsham

When buying my white iPhone 5s, I thought I would treat myself to a new case in red.
When it turned up I was happy with it, fitted well, and looked good
After two weeks it started to get dirty and the colour started to change.
It has now broken where the charger plugs in and doesn't stay on the phone anymore.

Would not recommend to anyone, It is also well over priced.
much better cases for a fraction of the cost.

Biggest disappointment from Apple so far.

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement, only had the case a few months and already broken near the charge port and no longer sits right around my phone! Not worth all the money if you ask me.

    Shockingly bad

    • Written by from Rochdale

I bought my gold 5S (which I LOVE, I might add) and paired it with the brown/tan "leather case". Firstly if this is leather Apple need to change their supplier as it is so thin I dont know why they even bothered. It got dirty after two weeks and the corners turned dark brown as if the 'leather' was coming off and even a decent leather cleaner failed to clean it. I was considering returning it to the Apple store as 'unfit for purpose'. I expected something that cost an outrageous £35 to last a long time. This is the first Apple product I have been absolutely disgusted with and I have a MacBook, iPad and iphone. Its clear that Apple isnt that bothered as there has been no comment from them regarding this truky inferior product.

Plastic breaks around charger and headphone socket

    • Written by from Ascot

I have replaced this case twice in 4 months, i dont use 3rd party headphones as the jacks dont fit and i havent taken the case off after initially fitting (except when replacing it with a new one)

Both cases have suffered the same issue the think piece of plastic inside the leather on both holes for the charger and the headphoes crack.

This means the case doesnt securely fit the phone anymore.

I have the black leather 5s case so unlike other reviewers i have no issue with wear or colour issues on the leather.

    Nice but impractical

    • Written by from Preston on the Hill

I ordered this case without thinking whether the Lightening to 30 pin adaptor would fit. It doesn't! So given most of my chargers use this adaptor buying the case was a complete waste of money. Typical of Apple rushing a product to the marketplace without fully thinking through its application from the user perspective. Rather like the diary/appointments process on their iPhones - fiddly and not always user friendly.

Little things like these make me irritated with Apple - often more style than substance.

People can't hear you, it gets dirty. Seriously Apple?

    • Written by from Reading

You'd only buy a regular leather phone case for £35 because it's 'made' by apple, but quite disappointed cause:
    1. It gets really dirty after a couple of weeks
    2. People can't hear you - took me a while to dissever the problem was the phone case
    3. the bit near the charger hole has cut just from normal usage.

    Not impressed

    • Written by from Lincoln

Had 2 of these cases now and the second has just broken the same as the first.
Don't get me wrong the look and feel of the case is great, but the practicality is poorly designed.
The hole for the ear phone socket is too small for most 3.5mm jacks so you need to remove the case.
My first case lasted 3 removals and refitting's, my current one lasted 4.
The problem is the metal wire built in the rim breaks at the charging hole when stretched on removal/refitting. will be after a different replacement this time.

    Extremely Dissapointed

    • Written by from Dublin

I bought this product on a trip to London, I decided to go with the blue, as a change from the normal black. It fits like a glove and is probably the best cover i have ever owned, however the quality of the material is shocking and what was once a lovely blue case is now completely faded and looks horrible the colour is almost peeling off, maybe its faulty? I do not know? Its like I have owned it for a year when it is only a week old, I would go with the black if this case is a need to buy for anyone, as i don't think the changes to the material would be as obvious I would stay away from any of the coloured cases

    Very Disappointing

    Rubbish, people cant hear you

    • Written by from Benfleet

When you make a call with the case on, people cannot hear you properly saying that it sounds like you are underwater! when you take the case off to call somebody then they can hear you fine.

Being as it is a product made by apple for an apple product i find it hard to understand why the two do not work properly together.

    No protection

    • Written by from Bristol

The Apple leather case does NOT protect the screen in any way at all. The edges/rims of other cases extend above the depth of the phone so that they sit proud of the screen. This case's edges/rims do not. The screen sits proud of the case's edges meaning that in the event of even the smallest drop, the screen will shatter. Extra bonus - Apple Stores are still unable to replace the 5S screen - so its a £200+ replacement if that happens. Not up to the job. Get something with better protection.

Case breaks easily at the bottom edge

    • Written by from Falkirk

Mines also broken just below the home button above the lightening connector port. My son also bought one and his has also broken in the same way at the headphone socket.
We weren't bending it through extreme angles, just enough to ease the phone out, and only had the phone in and out a few times - and you have to take it out of the case for some non-apple headphone jacks (e.g. external speakers).
On the whole - not a happy customer and would have expected something better for the price.

I bought this case in anticipation of my new iPhone 5S arriving. It looked nice when I got it and I thought, great. However, when I put it on my new phone and tried to listen to some music the headphones wouldn't fit in the slot. The case was physically stopping the headphones going near the hole. Very disappointing and now have to return.

    • Written by from Hartlepool

I bought the green/yellow case and it was terrible returned it after a week as it was totally impractical and looked very grubby indeed!

That being said the feel of the leather is very good.

All in all stay well clear for the cost, will look perished in no time

Very nice case, the best I've ever seen - what a shame!!

    • Written by from STEVENAGE

Let's be honest here, the finish on this case is fantastic! It's really thin but leather and fits like a glove. It works brilliantly!

And here's the rub, I am so disappointed with it. It's just so nice, but I just simply can't use it.

The only way to charge it is with a lightning USB cable.

So now the Apple dock, Belkin dock, Bose SoundDock, BMW snap-in adapter and any other docking method I have pusrchased and was previously using for this great phone is basically USELESS unless I remove the case (which is a pain in the backside because it hugs the phone so well) because the fools who have designed this case didn't THINK that we may actually want to use any of the other products sold through the Apple store and made the hole at the base of the case too small.

Black iPhone 5s Case. Useless as Hard to Remove

    • Written by from Birmingham

I purchased the back case for my 5s. The Sleep/wake button doesn't even work properly have to press it hard. Also once your phone is in and you want to remove to try a different colour case, As I purchased a black and a Beige one for my Gold 5s. Its practically impossible to remove. I might try looking at other 3rd party cases than this Apples attempt. . Anyone who has ideas or suggestions on how to take the phone out once in please let me know also in the forums this has been picked up.
