    Not the entire package

    • Written by from bradford

Thank you Apple for providing a device without the necessary cables to actually make it work out of the box. I really enjoy having to go out of my way to purchase cables in order to make your simple devices work, it really adds to the overall Apple experience. Also, your shipping tracking in the UK is terrible, making it impossible to know which day to expect delivery and to be present to receive.
I just hope the device fulfils its purpose once it finally gets connected.

    AEBS 6th gen useless

    • Written by from Aghabullogue,

    I have purchased the new Airport Extreme 6th gen. 4 weeks ago and had quite a lot of problems;
It randomly drops the PPPoE connection, randomly fails to distribute ip addresses to my wireless clients ( MBP,MBA,iMac,iPhone,iPad Air and iPad 2 as well as Apple TV and Sky), large files can not be copied onto attached NAS, randomly slows down to nearly dial-up speed, the network can not be extended with an 4th gen. Airport express because of ip issues etc.
All in all deeply disappointing and needless to say no support from Apple.
I certainly can not recommend it

    Shocked

    • Written by from Leyland

This is the first Apple product that I've purchased and felt utterly let down by it.

I purchased it to replace my Virgin Media Superhub running on 2.4GHz. I thought with dual band and 6 antennas on the Airport Extreme Wi-Fi speeds would be much better or even at least a little better than the standard hub I had. However on tests using my iPhone 5s, iPad Air, Mac Mini and laptop speeds attained were no better, and in some cases worse than the Virgin Media Super Hub.

So although it looks and all the blurb makes it sound amazing I'm afraid real life use is far from good :(

If you use VPN, choose something else.

    • Written by from Dagenham

Even though it says it supports PPTP passthrough - it's impossible to get it to actually work, since it seems to conflict with the "Back to my mac" feature. Instead of honouring the instruction to forward port 1723 to the VPN server, it just drops the packets.

A fundamental flaw in an otherwise decent product.

    Still no airplay

    • Written by from Sheffield

    The ball = dropped.

I have been waiting years to replace my aging wifi router with an extreme. Holding out for the new version which would surely introduce airplay.

Would it have been so hard to include it... even as an option...

But no. Its just another router in a (admittedly nice) white box.

    *sigh*
