    Poorly thought out.

    • Written by from Broadstairs

This is an ideal solution if you have need to charge different apple products, one cable will fit 30 pin and lightening. Great unless you have purchased an apple 5s case, the port wont slot in with the case in situ, and its very difficult to take the case off, so its pretty useless to me. :-(

Poor design + an expensive waste of money, doesn't work with apple case!

    • Written by from swansea

I bought a new iphone 5s and added the original leather case.

As I have several expensive jbl docks with the older style connector I bought this to allow my new phone to be compatible.

Who's going to take their phone out of the case each time you want to dock it!?

    Complete rip off,

If you have any case on your phone, even a very thin one, this simply will not work.

Expensive but compatible with Bose Sound Dock & VW in car

    • Written by from Aylesbury

I feel this product is expensive, however it has enabled me to use my new
iPhone 5c with my existing Bose Portable Sound Dock (it both charges and plays music) and it is also compatible with my VW in car lead (again both charges and plays music). So this adapter successfully does what it is suppose to!

    Not Good

Having upgraded to iOS 7 my original adaptor no longer works (only for iOS 6 I find) so I have to get another one specifically for iOS7 another 'hidden' charge from Apple ;-(

    No good with case

Great if you don't use a case but even with a genuine Apple case, it doesn't fit. Real shame but not fit for function.

Does Not Work With Component Cable

    • Written by from REDHILL

This will not let you use your component cable, it does not support video. Even if you speak to a sales advisor and they tell you it does like I did, it doesn't, so don't get caught. all in all total waste of £25

    Not useful with iPhone 5S

    • Written by from Royton

I bought this so I could connect my iPhone with my 3rd generation iPad. Well new iPhone 5S I wanted the nice (expensive) apple case, so once you put the case on the phone the adapter doesn't fit without taking the phone out of the case.

    I returned the item.

If only they'd thought about cases

    • Written by from Swindon

Does what it says on the tin; yes it's expensive but it feels well made. Unfortunately what should be a good bit of kit is completely ruined by the design not allowing any room for a case - will be returning mine and looking for a better thought out 3rd party version.

    Good but poorly designed

    • Written by from Gillingham

Does what it says on the tin, but I can't believe you have to remove the case to use it. Really needs a redesign with a narrower top end. Might get the dremel out and have a go!

    A necessary expense

    • Written by from Dorchester

Just bought a used Jaguar XF with an iPod interface and wanted to connect my gen. 7 nano.replacing my 4th gen.
Tried a couple of different cheap adapters from the auction site. A complete waste of time effort and money.Take my advice don't go there.they just don't work,It's not even worth trying to return them either.
Just bought the correct apple one from John Lewis in Bournemouth. Works a treat ,exactly as it should. The assistant even said they would take it back if it didn't work (as you would expect)
At £25 it is well overpriced for what it is. Apple should include this with their iPods /phones. They are pennies to make.Four stars not five due to ridiculously high price.
    Any way thank you JohnLewis.

Can't use with my iphone case.

    • Written by from Eastbourne

Just got this for use with my B&W Zeppelin Air and it works but i have to remove my case from the phone otherwise it will not fit. £25 is a bit too much considering the poor design as most people i think have cases.

Does what it should but let down by poor design

    • Written by from Bridgwater

Works fine with my sony docks and the Y cable in the car for data and charging.

Would love to be able to give 5 stars.

It's a shame that this has not been designed to work with the official Apple 5s case, I have a few docks in my house and a Y cable in each car it gets tedious having to remove the case each time I wish to attach to my phone. I have seen 3rd party adapters that look like they have thought about this, but unfortunetly not MFi certified.

    It works

Design - have to remove even the official apple case to use.

Would give 2 more stars if it would fit without removing the case, and another star if it was more reasonably priced, so there is potential for 5 stars.

Why sell Apple branded cases which mean the pins don't connect???!

    • Written by from Malvern Wells

Apple get so much right, but this product is an absolute shower!!

Audio, charging and syncing do not work AND having launched a new case for iPhone 5s the connector doesn't even fit!!! What's all that about?!

Seriously Apple, must try harder on this. I hope someone is reading these comments and acts quick sharp

A little expensive, but well worth the money!

    • Written by from Stratford upon Avon

Purchased this adapter to connect my new iPhone 5 to my car radio system. Works perfectly, and the sound appears better now than it did from my old iPhone.
Take it from me, don't bother with those cheap 'copy' items sold elsewhere, if you want to connect your iPhone 5 to any audio device which only has the 30-pin plug, then this is the adapter to buy!

PS. Remember that if your iPhone 5 is in a case, you will either need to modify it, or replace it with one that has a larger slot to accept the width of this adapter.

What a con ! and really poor design

    • Written by from LONDON

I bought into Apple because it was functionally great and very cool. The new port connection destroys this ! Why change a winning format ?

I recently invested in all the docking stations around the house including Crestron docks..............and now in order to upgrade my Apple kit I have to buy this ???? !
And let's not forget the need for different charging connections for the iPad mini, iPhone 4 & 5 and iPad1 & 2. I can't just connect to recharge around the house like I used to.

And don't get me started on the bespoke connection in my car that does not allow space for the adaptor.

As for the new connection, who thought this was a smart idea to have something so flimsy ? It clearly won't sustainably support the phone !

And should I in future invest in new systems with docking formats if I can't trust Apple not to change it in future? Seems like the sales of sound docks are also going to get hit. Instead, why not just buy a double jack cable and connect by Aux.

Terrible idea and frankly I'm cynical that it is just a money spinner for Apple. My trust in the firm is destroyed and my appreciation of Apple design badly dented.

I purchased this to play my new iPod Nano in my car after my Ipod Classic died on me. Fiddly to fit on 30 pin connector in car but couldn't attach my Nano to it due to position and space in glove box. Not happy but using in the home with my JBL speakers which works fine for audio but does not charge! FRUSTRATING. May return as expensive for not doing the job I wanted it to and only half the job when I'm using it at home.
It's cheaper to purchase a new iPod with 30 pin connector from EBay!

I had this adapter for a week. It broke within the week, did not charge my phone, did not play music through my iPhone 4 cable nor did it connect my phone to my laptop.

My advice is to buy a iPhone 5 USB cable, cheaper and more reliable!

Does exactly what I want to

    • Written by from Felixstowe

After having read negative reviews, regarding this product, I was a bit dubious about getting one, but the guy in the shop convinced me it would work as I wanted it to.

I plugged it into the 30pin lead on my car stereo & lo & behold my sound system plays the music from my iPhone 5 & charges it, just like it did with my iPhone 4. Happy days

As per the fitting while the phone is in a case, fortunately my phone cover is open at the bottom so the jack plug, charging port & speaker holes are exposed. This in turn means this adaptor fits snugly even while the phone is in the protective cover. I can understand that this product wouldn't fit if the protective cover was an all over one.

    Help !

    • Written by from Haywards heath

After reading some of the reviews, about this product. I bought two, (very cheaply from ebay!) however when I plugged in iphone 5 nothing happened, ebay sent another, incase it was faulty, but it still didn't work. So I have just purchased a new speaker docking station which is for ipads, iphones and ipods, but still no music comes from the docking station ? (trying all 3 adapters) I'm wondering why it works for some and not others ? Have resorted to the standard 3.5mm jack cable, but would be nice to use the docking station as is intended. Pls Help !!
