    High price, low quality

    • Written by from Maidstone

Bought this for transferring photos to my iPad mini, having had the previous 30-pin version for my wife's iPad 2.

Firstly, you only get the SD Card Reader, not the USB camera reader (which the 30-pin camera kit included) making the lightning version £50 instead of £25 if you want both.

I had the connector for a few weeks, most of which it spent in a drawer, and now it reports "Device not compatible" when used and won't transfer photos from any SD Card. Expensive and unreliable.

I'm taking it back to the shop.

1 star but not for the reader But staff at Cabot circut Apple store

    • Written by from bristol

I wanted to find a Lightening Sd card reader if there was such a thing to backup pics from my DSLR onto my Iphone 5 and Ipad. This was what I explained to the staff in the store. " lightning SD card reader to use with my Iphone & Ipad"

They showed me this product which I thought great I'll have it even at £25.

Guess what: Just trying it on my Iphone and it does not work which I was not told about even though I said I wanted to use this on Both my Iphone and Ipad.

Going to get my money back. Very poor

    Rubbish

    • Written by from HARROGATE

I tried this on my iPad air, it worked intermittently with one of my SD cards then not at all. It did not recognise the JPG.s on my Canon camera card or the card in my Sony camera, I also tried moving photos from my laptop to a different brand SD card this also did not work even after making a file structure on the card imitating a camera card.

    Not Worth a Star

    • Written by from BARROW-IN-FURNESS

Absolute garbage. Doesn't recognise SD card is there. Not managed to transfer a single picture. Will have to connect camera to MacBook. Total waste of money. Happens too often. I'm done with Apple, and will switch back to PC when I next change. Didn't used to mind the extra cost associated with Apple when the quality was here, but it's not anymore. Take a look at half the rubbish on AppStore as well. Quality control has been reduced to zero.

    It's going back

    • Written by from Wellington

Exeter Apple Store today, bought Lightening to SD Card Reader - helpful assistant who assured us all we had to do was insert SD card into Card Reader into mini ipad and select photos we wanted to import. Followed instructions exactly. Zilch. Nothing. Clicked Photo icon, just got the range of photos that was already there.

It’s going back. Had to give it one star to write this review - otherwise it be zero.

    Waste of money

    • Written by from Droitwich

Simply doesn't work, even when following all the instructions by Apple, it plugs in, is recognised, but not a single SD card will it read, and I've tried by Nikon camera's, Cannon cameras and Canon video camera, all with four different types of SD card. I've turned the iPad on and then off again, I've even done a little dance to the gods of all things electronic.

    What a disappointment.

    Not compatible with iPhones

    • Written by from london

Bought this from the Apple Store today. Get home to try it with my iPhone and it's not compatible.

Fair enough, I'm looking to buy an iPad Air anyway, but at least you could say on the packaging that it's only for iPad? Or your "Genius" staff could of let me know? Not that it would work with the iPad Air by the sounds of the other reviews on here...

I can't help feel like Apple is losing touch with things like this, their devices cost a lot of money, they should pretty much be able to deal with whatever will plug into them.

Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader

    • Written by from EDINBURGH

Complete waste of money. This device fails to read any of my SD cards on either of my iPads which are both retina display. I will be sending it back to Apple for a refund. Wish I'd read some of these reviews before purchasing as it appears it doesn't work for most people. Come on Apple- get this sorted .... Or at the very least stop selling a device that clearly has issues! It deserves NO stars!

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't work in any way. Totally unpredictable - probably an ios7 bug. Update needed for this product to have any reliability whatsoever. Most of the time it's useless...

Appears to not work with ios7

    • Written by from London

Never worked very reliably but since upgrading to ios7 it doesn't work at all. Claims to be "not certified" - despite being a genuine Apple product. Rubbish bit of kit.

    What is the point?

    • Written by from Wigan

I recently got this from a premium reseller whilst I am away.... I had to buy it because my old one stopped working after iOS7 came along. With the new one though, my ipad mini doesn't even recognise that anything is even plugged in!! What is the point in selling an accessory that your updates don't even allow to work. What am I supposed to do now?
Definitely not fond of apple right now.

Does not work with iPad Air

    • Written by from Kangasala

I have a 32 GB Sandisk Extreme Pro SDHC. Works fine with 1st generation iPad and Apple's own 30 pin SD card adapter.

Enter the new iPad 64 GB Cellular, and this Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader, bought from a premium reseller: the iPad just says "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPad.". The Camera tab does not appear in the Photo application.

    Going back to the store...

This item worked perfectly until the recent ios7 update and now will not work on my iPad with retina display at all. It states "this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPad" .... But it doesn't work at all. Extremely disappointed Apple.

    Why Apple?

    • Written by from NOTTINGHAM

I ordered this when compatibility with the iPhone 5s & 5c was listed, that's subsequently been removed because it doesn't actually work with them. It is of course a purely software based restriction. Why Apple? Why have you hamstrung your own product's usefulness in such a way?

This could be a very handy product, but it's rendered almost completely useless by these arbitrary restrictions on which iDevices can and can't use it.

Waste of money, not working !

    • Written by from LONDON

Emergency bought it during my Euro trip as i tended to load photo from my cam through my ipad mini. Dead ! The ipad mini didnt recognise it at all. While some people suggest that we have to change a name of photo files (6 or 8 digits, something like that) but how could i change it when i dont have my laptop with me, so what the point of having this product then ? So disappointed

Does not work with Fujifilm camera

    • Written by from Birmingham

This does not work with my Fujifilm camera. The iPad writes data to the memory card. This confuses the camera and makes it boot up slow.
Use your SD card once on the iPad, and from then on it will take 15 seconds to switch on your camera. Not good.
