    Useless

    • Written by from Dorking

The main reason for switching to iPad was to be able to transfer files from sd card like my previous Sony tablet.
The reader will not work properly with iPad Air2. If I am lucky it will partially read sd card, but usually just displays a few selected items.
I now have to transfer photos to iMac and then sync to iPad.
A complete and utter waste of £25, should have stayed with Sony.

I have tried to use this with my iPad, iPhone and iPod and on all of them I get the same message saying that this accessory is not supported. For the price of this I would expect it to work on the latest products

    Not compatible with iPhone6

    • Written by from Thurso

Having purchased one before for use with my iPad (which works okay) I bought a spare today for £25 to keep in my camera bag to use specifically with my iPhone 6.

Despite it having the Lightning connector (which is touted as connecting anything to everything as long as it is Apple) the device does not work with my brand new iPhone 6.

    NOT HAPPY!

    Apple, please sort quickly!!

Wish I'd read these reviews before making my purchase. My iPad doenst register that anything is even plugged in so I guess that's £25 down the drain unless a future update comes to my rescue. Proceed with caution if you intend to buy would be my advice.

    Not compatible

    • Written by from Gartcosh

So, I spent £25 on this, plugged it into my iPad Air (following instructions no less) and receive the message that it's not compatible with my device? It's a new piece of equipment with a lightning connector, if it doesn't work with iPad Air what IS it designed to work with? Ill thought out trash that caused me to go back to the store for a refund. Really would have expected much better from an Apple branded product.
The only reason I've rated at all is because I have to, if you could score in negatives I would.

IT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE IPAD AIR 2

    • Written by from Isleworth

    Bad Bad Apple!!

I bought 2 x iPad Air 2 for my business so we can showcase our work to clients...bought this reader so I can transfer all my images to the iPad from my PC and it does not work - it was sold to me as part of the buying page on apples site - that is really bad. Now the iPAD has no use unless I waste half a day transferring the photos manually - terrible experience.

It is rubbish with the new ios8

    • Written by from Thurso

Used to work so well on iOS 7. It would put the photos onto the iPad, you could click on all imported and then it would put them in individual folders of the date that you imported them, made it really easy to find the photos you wanted. But now it just outs them into recently added and then any news ones you add wipes the folder with the new uploads.
A update is meant to be a improvement. This has just made it a downgrade in my opinion.

    Unreliable

    • Written by from Sutton Coldfield

Works fine to transfer photos and video to my son's iPad mini, simply will not work with my iPad Air, despite trying to load the same files. All our settings are the same - only conclusion is incompatibility with iPad Air. Very disappointed, cannot transfer any video content to my pad, with this expensive accessory. Waisted hours trying to get it to work, to no avail. Unable to get any assistance from Apple, other than the advice to reboot which doesn't change anything. Be prepared to possibly be very frustrated with this product.

    Not for professional use

    • Written by from Putney

Was hoping to use this while travelling with my DSLR instead of lugging around my MBP. I only shoot in RAW which is fine because it supports the Canon 6D. HOWEVER... Insert your SD card and it will literally take hours to 'find' all the files on the card and then after waiting for ages for it to find them all it will generate previews for you. Only once this is done can you choose which ones you want to import. So in essence it's useless unless you have a whole evening spare.

Save yourself £25 and use Canon's free remote where you can transfer the files to hour iPad over wifi, sure it's not RAW but it's quick. Guess my iPad Air won't be replacing my MBP on the go anytime soon. Shame.

    High price, low quality

    • Written by from Maidstone

Bought this for transferring photos to my iPad mini, having had the previous 30-pin version for my wife's iPad 2.

Firstly, you only get the SD Card Reader, not the USB camera reader (which the 30-pin camera kit included) making the lightning version £50 instead of £25 if you want both.

I had the connector for a few weeks, most of which it spent in a drawer, and now it reports "Device not compatible" when used and won't transfer photos from any SD Card. Expensive and unreliable.

I'm taking it back to the shop.

1 star but not for the reader But staff at Cabot circut Apple store

    • Written by from bristol

I wanted to find a Lightening Sd card reader if there was such a thing to backup pics from my DSLR onto my Iphone 5 and Ipad. This was what I explained to the staff in the store. " lightning SD card reader to use with my Iphone & Ipad"

They showed me this product which I thought great I'll have it even at £25.

Guess what: Just trying it on my Iphone and it does not work which I was not told about even though I said I wanted to use this on Both my Iphone and Ipad.

Going to get my money back. Very poor

    Rubbish

    • Written by from HARROGATE

I tried this on my iPad air, it worked intermittently with one of my SD cards then not at all. It did not recognise the JPG.s on my Canon camera card or the card in my Sony camera, I also tried moving photos from my laptop to a different brand SD card this also did not work even after making a file structure on the card imitating a camera card.

Absolute garbage. Doesn't recognise SD card is there. Not managed to transfer a single picture. Will have to connect camera to MacBook. Total waste of money. Happens too often. I'm done with Apple, and will switch back to PC when I next change. Didn't used to mind the extra cost associated with Apple when the quality was here, but it's not anymore. Take a look at half the rubbish on AppStore as well. Quality control has been reduced to zero.

    It's going back

    • Written by from Wellington

Exeter Apple Store today, bought Lightening to SD Card Reader - helpful assistant who assured us all we had to do was insert SD card into Card Reader into mini ipad and select photos we wanted to import. Followed instructions exactly. Zilch. Nothing. Clicked Photo icon, just got the range of photos that was already there.

It’s going back. Had to give it one star to write this review - otherwise it be zero.

    • Written by from Droitwich

Simply doesn't work, even when following all the instructions by Apple, it plugs in, is recognised, but not a single SD card will it read, and I've tried by Nikon camera's, Cannon cameras and Canon video camera, all with four different types of SD card. I've turned the iPad on and then off again, I've even done a little dance to the gods of all things electronic.

    What a disappointment.
