    Purchased this when I got my new iMac as i still use CD's in my car and it works really well. I read some of the reviews left for this item and there are a mixed bunch, but so far in my experience, its worked really well and does the job well.

    Good for the money and looks tidy next to my new slim iMac.

    I had a bad experience buying a cheap disk drive that stressed me out so much during install it almost got thrown out the window. This drive was effortless, loading disks instantly. Highly recommended.

    Super, super Drive

    I bought the Super Drive for my new 2012 iMac.

    I've used a few different types and brands of cd's and DVD's and all work fine even RW media.

    I find the Super Drive quiet and it fits perfectly on the foot of the iMac's stand and is within very easy reach too on here. Also, the Super Drive matches the elegant design of the iMac.

    Drives I've owned in the past have been the draw type. Since using the Super Drive, I find the lack of a draw to be better. The reason I say this is because, if room is tight on your desk, you need to have enough room for when the draw comes out, whereas with the Super Drive, the disk just slots neatly into the slot.

    If you want a drive that will match you iMac, Macbook, then look no further than the Super Drive. If you are not bothered about it matching then save yourself £20 or so and go for another type.

    Despite the mixed reviews, I cannot fault the Super Drive, but be aware that the non detachable cable on the Super Drive is very short. If you are planning to use it on either on the foot of the iMac's stand or next to your Macbook, then the short length won't be a problem. But if you are wanting it placed on the other side of your desk then you will need a USB extension cable.

    Personally, I found the DVD drive to be perfect. It's extremely fast and very elegant. It compliments the new late 2012 iMacs with no optical drive perfectly. 5/5! Perfection as always from Apple!

    Absolutely brilliant, got it with my iMac (late 2012) runs faster than the cd drive in my MacBook Pro ( Late 2009) Must have if your Device dosent have a CD drive, fast and very efficient.

    Just tested it with one of my oldest back up dvds and it loaded fast and without any problems at all. It actually feels a bit faster than the one in my iMac.

    Brought this to use with my mac book air as I have a lot of DVD which I like to watch some times and I can say it is great DVD player sound and play back very good and easy to use as you only plug in via USB and size is good too as only the size of a cd case

    I got it after a mouth i got my MacBook Pro with retina because i need some thing that i can play my DVD with so got it and it very useful and easy to use!
    Highly recommend for those has the new MacBook Pro with retina or Air

    I purchased this 2012 updated Super Drive directly from Apple at the same time I ordered my MacBook Air (due to it not having a built-in disc drive).

    It looks similar to the previously released Super Drive. However Apple claims that this updated model supports the new Retina Display MacBook, as well as providing support for other macs that do not come equipped with a built-in drive. It is well constructed and from the moment you open the box, you know you are in for a high quality item.

    The drives footprint is no larger than a standard CD case; I have taken mine in my bag to work and had no problems with added bulk or weight. It connects to the mac via USB and there is no additional software to install. It has not failed to recognise any DVD or CD that I have inserted. With a slot loading mechanism, there are no buttons on the drive and no hatches to lift. Simply insert the disc by sliding it in the slot and remove via the on screen eject button. I feel obliged to add that the cable from the Super Drive is fairly short (~12 inches). This may be a pro or con, depending on your needs, but the cable can be extended using a usb extension.

    Conclusively, the Super Drive is a premium product that works well out of the box, and presents with no issues. What you are getting is a device that compliments the aesthetics of your mac and functions efficiently. 5/5
