Worked fine for a few weeks and then it decided it wouldn't eject, seems like the disk is catching on the inside of the housing, works if you give it a jiggle, not ideal though. Trying to decided if I need to get a replacement or if its something I can live with. CD drives aren't Apples strong point any more it would seem.
I find this drive to be quite slow at importing any CD's into iTunes on my MacBook Pro Retina. Import times average around x6. My 7 year old PC can import the same CD at around 25x?
I've not tried with any other CD drives on my Mac so maybe I'm wrong to blame the drive. I'll not dock any stars for this reason, but it's still worth a mention.
The build quality is excellent, as I'd expect for the price. It loses stars simply because of the short USB cable that cannot be detached, I'd expect a bit more at this level.
Simple and straightforward, this drive does what it says on the tin. One caveat however, is that the usb lead used to connect the drive is ridiculously short which sometimes makes it inconvenient to use. You would think for the price charged Apple would supply an extension to the lead in case it was needed.
