    No longer works after iOS6

    • Written by from Kidderminster

Bought this a few weeks before the ios6 update only to find it no longer works with the update. No fix or explanation from Apple. Very disappointed and annoyed.

    Apple AV adapter

    • Written by from Chichester

It is very misleading to claim this cable is the solution to a TV connection.
I have wasted time and money, when I actually needed an HDMI cable as well

OEM AV Adapter with HDMI and Charger

    • Written by from Boring

I purchased the adapter for my 2 week old iPad 3. I always plug in all devices prior to powering them up which I did connecting the iPad to my Panasonic Plasma tv. Powered the tv then the ipad and got the message that this device is not compatible with the ipad. I tried every hdmi port on my tv and still the same results. I was using the same port that my laptop connects to, knowing that the laptop always works. Against my knowledge I left both iPad and TV powered up, then unplugged the av adapter from the iPad and plugged it in again, this did the trick and I am certain that I had it plugged in the iPad with all other attemps. Hope this may help someone.

Does not play iTunes movies - rubbish!!

    • Written by from oxford

The cable allows you to mirror iPad is play but does not play any movies rented or purchased on iTunes because they are hdcp protected. I have 2 hd tvs, plasma and led, both less than 2 years old, both do not support hdcp. Apple suggest that the solution is to buy a new tv. Very nice :-(

Doesn't do what it says on the tin.

    • Written by from Beckenham

Bought this today with the intention to hook my iPad2 up to my hd tv, unfortunately most of my apps do not display on the tv when all is connected - including love film instant, sky go, 4OD amongst others.

Apple you shouldn't really say..... "Put your slides, films, photos and everything else that fills your iPad or iPhone 4S screen on an even bigger screen — your HDTV. The Apple Digital AV Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on iPad or iPhone 4S so that everyone in the room can enjoy it on your widescreen TV, video projection screen or other HDMI-compatible display.* The Apple Digital AV Adapter also supports video out for iPad, iPhone 4 or iPod touch (4th generation)."

Also when I connected my iphone4 only YouTube displayed properly. Would recommend giving this one a miss!

Good but only for full HD tv

    • Written by from Belfast

Bought this so I could watch my films etc on a proper tv, and whilst it will work on my full HD 22" bedroom tv (and it's really good), it won't work on my older bigger HD READY tv in the living room, because it won't let me change the resolution that the films play in. But, it works when I hook it up to the iPhone 4. I had this problem with my Bluray DVD player but could change the resolution. Ah well, will just need to keep that in mind when I change the tv!

Av adaptor for iPod 4 th generation

    • Written by from ulverston

Having purchased Av adaptor from apple store, having explained to assistant that it was for both my iPad latest generation, and for my iPod latest generation, generally for iplayer, as i work shifts, the iPad worked fine as it says on the !!!, however the Av adator only worked on audio, with no Av picture from the iPod. Tried new cable and different tvs in home, same result...am I right or wrong to expect this to work on my iPod.

    Cheers srj

    Disappointing.

    • Written by from Lowestoft

Bought this from the Norwich Apple store on the advice from one of their technical Assistants on the basis that I have an iPod 3rd Gen, iPhone 3GS and and iPad only to find out that it's only compatiable with just the iPad.

So poor service and £35 wasted on something that was going to be used for our daughters iPod mainly.

Why can't we use it for the old apple products that are running the latest OS5.1.

Works fantastic but be aware of app support for the component.

    • Written by from Heston

I bought this so I could play games and Video on my TV through my iPhone and iPad. And as I expected it works exactly how I expected it.
I didn't even realise that there are even some apps and games that are optimised for this cable such as Real Racing HD which turns my iPad into the controller while the racing occurs on screen. Absolutely fantastic.
My only gripe is not with the component but with certain apps, such as Sky Go, Sky Sports, Love Film and I'm sure there are others that won't work with the component at all, so it won't even mirror whats is on screen in those apps. It would have been nice to be able to watch Sky on my friends TV with Sky Go but what can you do!

    Plug'n'go!

    • Written by from Rustington

Ok, so I messed up and bought the composite cable at first, as this looks like it would do the same but after much swearing, I called Apple, turned out my telly was far too modern for composite and they recommended this.
So simple it hurt! Can't believe I wasted time swearing about the other cable.
To save disappointment, swearing and perhaps being on the apple helpline for a little too long, make sure you get the ones for your telly and then you're realise how fab they are.

    A total waste of money!

    • Written by from Bradford

I bought this thinking it would work fine and there would be no problems but I was wrong. When I plugged it in at first the image projected onto my TV but within seconds it blinked out. Since then it has not been successful at making the connection between my Ipad and any TV I have attempted to connect it to - this includes Sony, Panasonic and LG TV. In conclusion I would not recommend this It is a terrible product. Apple you have really let us down.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from bristol

Disappointed that it would not work on samsung plasma hd tv, just comes up with 'not compatible' on the screen although it does send the sound through.

Works well on cheaper lcd tv but as the samsung is our main tv not too pleased.

Check with apple on compatiblilty before buying.

    Excellent piece of kit.

Just the job works perfectly. You will need an HDMI cable to act as your extension cable. Note the extra connection that will let you charge the iPad as you use it to play through your TV etc. Note also that when you connect to your iPad it locks to it, (to stop accidental disconnection) when you want to detach, use the little release button at the side not really visible.Works fine with Youtube, BBC player ITV player, iTunes movies and most useful in my case Netflix movies streamed from the internet. Used with new iPad no problems at all.

Not working well on the new iPad.

    • Written by from Randers

I bought this adapter in early 2012 for my original iPad (1), and worked well, although of course only with a few features such as movies or YouTube.

When connecting it to my new iPad (3) it says that the connected hardware is not compatible. It states this every time I connect it, although it sometimes actually workes anyway.

I know this is not a problem for all new iPad (3) users, but a few though, so be sure to check out that it works perhaps before buying it, or test it immediately after buying it.

Seemed expensive but works really well

The clearest picture yet on my HD TV coupled with much improved sound. The cable seems expensive for what it is but the performance is markedly better than the output from my 5 year old Macbook.
