    Not fit for purpose

    • Written by from Ashford

I was very happy with my bumper for about 10 hours. It looked pretty good and seemed like it might give a bit of protection to my phone. However, if, like me, you use a universal dock, phone + bumper will not fit. So I took the bumper off as carefully as I could: it broke. Not badly, just a crack in one corner, but still broken.

With postage, this cost nearly £30. For that price I want something that's bomb proof.

A week later and another crack has now appeared and this is going back for a refund.

Awful, shoddy product. Do not buy.

    • Written by from Leeds

This product costs too much and last less than a year. I am very careful with my phone, always placing it in a separate pocket to everything else, usually in my coat. Yet, even given these circumstances, this thing has split and broken.

Why do Apple seem to be failing in quality these days?

You get what you pay for.

    • Written by from Chipping Norton

I've spent lots of money on inexpensive cases for my white iPhone 4s, and they've all had their problems and ended up being abandoned. They deform or they discolour (or both), or they just frankly spoil the look of your lovely white phone. So far I love this bumper. It looks really stylish, and the metal buttons are very classy. It's rigid and I can't see how it will deform. So far I've had no discolouration (which means it's already beaten my last Hard Candy case). This isn't really designed to protect your phone, but rather to make it easier to hold (we all know the iPhone is a terribly slippery beast) whilst also looking gorgeous. You get what you pay for, and I think if you want a good quality bumper that might just last more than a week this is probably the thing to buy.

    Deteriorates Quickly

    • Written by from Leicester

Out of the pack this looks good - though it is difficult to justify the price.

But it doesn't last. The stiffened plastic frame doesn't stand up to even a few removals to say, clean your phone. The soft rubberized trim discolours and gets damaged.

It seems a shame to wrap a 4S in a tatty bumper (after only 4 months). Replacing it that regularly makes no sense, it would be better to spend the money on the insurance excess if you dropped the phone.

Next I will look of a slip on case like a wallet. That will take the jean back pocket better.

    Waste of time and money!

    • Written by from Rowley Regis

Just returned the white iPhone bumper to my local Apple store. Brought it 3 days ago, used it since then, first of all I noticed the grey rubber grip was scratched. Also it started to discolour very quickly just by putting it down on a desk or in my pocket. My advice, don't waste £26 on something that discolours and scratches. I will stick with my leather pouch. I wouldn't even give it one star, but Apple don't allow me to give this 0 stars.

It Does What It Says, Brilliantly

    • Written by from London

I gave this product a 5-star review, because this product does what it says, and does it briliantly.

I have read some of the other reviews, I think there was a common mistake there which is that the main function of this case, is not protection, but customisation. The case really gives your iPhone a modern style; the colour I bought, which is white, is the same as what it is shown on the web-page, and the extended mental buttons are just classy.

The case has a unique design, which can protect your iPhone from being scratched when you put it on a table or any other flat surfaces, as well, as the case is thicker than the phone. The edge of the case is rubber, which feels comfortable at hands, and reduce scratches on other subjects, and noises when your put it down on a table, etc.

I do agree with the fact that the case limits the compatibility of your iPhone with some other accessories, though, but this is relative, as you can also say the other accessories limit your usage of this case.

If the material of the rubber edge can be improve, the case will be perfect, as I found it is not that anti-slippery.

Overall, 5 stars and highly recommended.

Simply the best case design for the iPhone 4.

    • Written by from Glenealy

I got a free bumper with my 1st gen iPhone 4 because of the apple case giveaway that followed the antenna controversy. It was so good that when the time came to upgrade my phone, I bought a new bumper case for my new iPhone 4S.

The bumper is everything a case should be. It doesn't ruin the look of a beautiful product, it compliments it. It doesn't get in the way, it's totally unobtrusive. And finally it does a really good job of protecting the phone. To illustrate, let me recount a little story...

I fell walking down some steps while carrying the iPhone in my right hand. Basically, I went flying up into the air and crashed down on my back. To break my fall I instinctively put out my hands. The side of the iPhone crashed into the stone steps with the full weight of my body behind it. The result? A little scuff on the bumper but absolutely no damage to the phone.

The bumper is a minimalist case but it's a great design and it does a great job. Buy one!

    Tad expensive, but looks good

    • Written by from kings lynn

It is overpriced for what it is, but it does look pretty nice and it does it's job well. Haven't had any issues with the metal band around the iphone scratching, but I was very careful when putting it on.

    Overall, very happy!

    Quality Average, Price Aweful

I purchased one of these in the meadowhall store in sheffield, had the product 2 weeks and it is already falling apart, its dirty, and makes the phone look shocking and cheap. Not worth £26 if maybe £10 at most....

    Good Case frame

    • Written by from PONTYPRIDD

Yes its more likely to stain due to its nature or rubber edges, its rather obvious if you choose white but it goes really well with the white iphone 4s.

I had this cover about 2 weeks now and so far so good its still clean inside the bumper frame but that depends on the use of the phone, i use it day to day through work and night.

Alcahol wet wipes can fix minor stains but avoid if you have engine oil or brake dust on your finger tips!

    Rubbish

    • Written by from Leicester

This bumper thing is absolutely rubbish! It has actually scratched my I phone more than it would if I didn't have one as I compared it to my friends who hasn't got a case. I've never dropped it but I keep it in my pocket but the inside of the bumper is hard plastic and has actually scratched the metal sides of the phone really bad! Do not get this rubbish!

    NO NOT GET THIS CASE!!!

    • Written by from Rhondda

i've had 2 Apple bumpers now and they were both terrible! not only does it let dirt into the case which scratches and stains the metal surrounding the iPhone 4 but also the bumper cracks and bends out of place and the colours fade very fast! i wouldn't recommend this to ANYONE!!

    Great... to begin with

    • Written by from Cardiff

It's so disappointing to have the most wonderful mobile phone surround and have it degrade over a handful of months and eventually fall apart. It loses a star as each month progresses and Apple should be ashamed of how it breaks down when you consider what they're charging for it. Buyer beware.

Great quality, best iPhone casing out there.

    • Written by from York

I chose the black bumper - it looks simple and classy on the black iPhone and great on the White iPhone as well. I had a good 9 months use out of this bumper before it broke and it was about 6 months before major signs of wear and tear were evident. It does the job of protecting the iPhone against uneccesary scratching and also against minor drops, however I did feel it did not solve the problem of losing signal. If you want a simple, quality case this is for you (I've tried other alternatives which aren't as good) but do think about the price first, which I would consider high end for such a product.

    Best cover out there!

    • Written by from NØRRESUNDBY

I had to write a review to even out the bad score this product seems to be getting. I have owned this bumper in both white and blue color for a couple of months now and it has been nothing but the best iPhone cover I have ever had. It fits beautifully and is non-intrusive, leaving all the beauty of the white/black iPhone intact. It does NOT scratch like others claim and it does not get particularly dirty at all. If you usually take care of your iPhone, clean it once a week, keep it in clean compartments, this cover will last and will continue to look beautiful. I hesitated when buying this product, due to the many bad reviews, however I am happy I trusted my instincts. This is a fantastic cover and your best accessory for the iPhone

Was wonderful for about the first three months, then it started to slowly come apart. After a year it's now unusable. Fortunately I was given this for nothing, but I won't be getting another. Avoid, unless you have money to burn.

    Surprisingly Good

    • Written by from Newport

When I got my iphone 4 the first thing I thought was that it needed some sort of case/protection, decided on the bumper as I liked the look of the phone so didnt necessarily want to hide too much of it. Read the reviews on here and was a little put off as they were quite mixed, but, I have been pleasantly surprised, I bought the white bumper (as I have the white iphone 4) and it has been great - yes I have to remove it when I am using the iphone in the car (charger/USB) but it is so easily taken on and off that it is not really a problem, liked it so much have now bought one in black as well! Also, I can use the apple headphones on mine with the bumper on.

    Started off well...

    • Written by from London

I got the bumper as part of the free programme last year, but it has rapidly fallen apart over the past few weeks. Headphones and speakers were a nightmare to the point that I just carried my old iPod around with me too.

I wanted to get a replacement but £26 is hideous for a piece of rubber. I could probably buy an entire tyre for a similar price, not to mention an actual phone.
