    Doesn't work with 5.1

    This could be an expensive buy if you are running iOS5.1 - it doesn't work at all. Neither the iPad nor the iPhone recognise the keyboard, which makes it a very expensive charging unit only.

    not worth the money.

    well i got the keyboard as part of a christmas present(iPad&keyboard) and i used it everyday, it did its job, it were good as its easier to type on rather than on the screen, but one day i just put it on, very gently and as i pulled it off after i had used it, it broke! it wouldnt connect to my ipad! after less than like a monbth of using it! i got it in december, it broke, hmm lke 2 weeks into january. Its good, Just not worth the £57. Im going to the Genius Bar at my local store tomorrow; see if they can do anything, If they cant ill be extremely angry, as it wasnt my fault the keyboard connector broke.

    for the price you would have thought that apple would have thought it through properly.

    you can not use the keyboard if the iPad is in a case, you have to remove it each time you want to dock it and use the keyboard accessory

    another marketing ploy so that people will buy an extension cable just so tha they can use the keyboard whilst their iPad is in a case?

    too annoying to use as a charger or take anywhere

    Nice keyboard and finish but I hate it:
    It's really bulky and oddly shaped, so it doesn't fit in my satchel.
    I normally carry my iPad in the apple folding cover, which doesn't let it dock correctly - have to take it out of the cover to charge it.
    So it's inconvenient at home and on the road; I can't recommend this.

    Excelent Keyboard - Imcomplete documentation

    It is a very good keyboard when you work at a desk.. For other mobile usage or lap, not so good.
    The mechanical aspects of the connection are no so well tought off. You cannot work in Landscape mode. The best solution would be to move the conector to another place in the base and use an extra cable. The Support should be wide, perhaps detachable from the keyboad, to be able to mechanically hold the iPad in landscape position..

    The documentation lack instructions on how to type Foreign characters for Latin Languages like French, Spanish and Potuguese. You can find those in user discussion boards. Suggest apple to print that on an addendum to the booklet.

    Best accessory yet!

    I've just bought this keyboard tonight, and without doubt it's the best thing I've bought for my iPad to date. Simple to set up and use - it's just a standard keyboard but with the lovely aluminium finish. If you hate the on screen keyboard, get one of these. I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed!!!

    Well it's Christmas time again and I have already bought my son an iPad for the special day. He is always writing long essays and whenever we have a look in the Apple Store he instantly runs over to the iPads where he just plays with them. I knew then that the iPad was for him. Then I got thinking about the typing that he would have to do and knew that typing on a screen everyday would take its toll, so I started to look for keyboards. I came acrooss this gadget. I wanted to try out its functions so I went to my local Apple Store and asked if they could show me. I tried it out and loved it. (Now I want an iPad too!) I know it is a hefty price, but for those that use e-mail, essay writing and apps, this is perfect for you. It is sturdy, so it won't fall over every time you use it. I have gift wrapped both presents up and they are ready for the 25th. However, I do have my eyes on a camera connector for the iPad. I know he would love that!
    Basically, I'm saying get it. It is a must have for the iPad users of the world.

    great with iphone 4

    I purchased this keyboard to use with my iphone 4 (it does fit) as I have big hands and found it tricky and time consuming writing an email, all the keyboard functions seem to work my iphone and for £55 has saved me time and effort worth more. The feel of the keyboard is better than any other i have used before, I opted for this keyboard over the wireless one which also works on the iphone 4 as it holds the phone upright, charges, connects to audio speakers and will be suitable for my wife’s ipad for Christmas. The only 1 very minor complaints is that the portrait view isn’t as good as landscape on certain occasions

    Good looking

    Negative
    1 Case has to be removed - snug fit and difficult to remove
    2 Fixed angle - if you are tall you cannot adjust

    conclusion: mine went back after a week

    Not worth the price...

    I am in the middle of returning mine after trying it out for a week. I am a student and thought it would be great for essay writing with iPad Pages. The keyboard is a great little device and looks great when the iPad is docked but in the end I didn't find it improved my productivity and not worth the £55.00 price tag. Plus there are keys that I am not sure serve any purpose (command for example). And if you have an Apple iPad case like I do, it's just far easier typing with that propping the iPad up.

    I love it - but...

    A great keyboard with a really nice action. It works best with a handful of apps: mail is good if you're typing long emails, Pages is also good as you can create great documents with the iPad in portrait mode. And you get to use the whole real-estate of the screen as there is no on-screen keyboard. As one of the other reviewers says - when this keyboard really works it gives you a tool thats netbook sized but a LOT better, and faster than a laptop.

    Other apps can have you moving between touching the iPad screen and then typing in short bursts - which can be a bit annoying.

    So - great if you have a lot of text to type, less good for everything else (and useless for apps like Keynote that only work in landscape orientation).

    Great Product

    The keypad on the ipad is great, but if you want to type a lot of text I recomend this keyboard. It is a great looking product and works really well. It does not need to be connected to the mains to work and runs off the battery of the Ipad. (not sure what this does to the battery life of the ipad)

    Get one!

    I Like It

    What a great companion to my ipad and clearly they are a compliment to each other. I feel that you get an "instant Laptop" when the ipad is attached. I have found it great for doing emails and filling in menu boxes. I would like to see a carry case designed specially which will of course last longer than carting around in the box that comes with it...A "well done" from me on this one Apple..:-)

    Though the touchscreen doesn't take long to get used to and is quite intuitive once you learn to pace yourself, having the physical keyboard is essential for writing for long periods of time as it is just unbeatable. Essential from College users to anyone writing at length alike!
