    Card reader not working ?

    • Written by from Spalding

Purchased the card reader 1week ago worked fine first time, very impressed but second time I tried it,it wouldn't work, read reviews about all the problems people were having so thought I had bought a useless piece of rubbish.Took it back to HMV(who were very helpful)and tried about 10 more card readers all of which didn't work. Then took iPad to John Lewis where it was purchased from, they tested card reader on demo unit which worked fine so they diagnosed a faulty iPad.They swapped my iPad for a new one and hey presto everything works a treat!
    a brilliant piece of kit

    Excellent product

    • Written by from Grimsby

Having read other reviews on here that talk about incompatibility with semi-pro cameras, I took the advantage of a trip to London to visit an Apple Store to check before purchase. Having been assured that it would work with my camera, I purchased it. Plugging the camera in via the USB connection, it showed up instantly, and quickly downloaded the photos to my iPad. The pictures look wonderful on screen, and can be easily synced with a computer, or emailed or edited in the iPad itself. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and will be using it a lot!

    Works just fine....

    • Written by from Greenford

Bought this via the online store.... Does what it says imports via the sd card adapter and imports via the camera (Nikon D80) and that is with the Apple case installed that a previous user said there was not enough room for the adapter to go in!!!

I think this is very overpriced for what it is but that's Apple for you....

They come fitted with a small plastic protective cover over the plug to stop dirt getting into the contacts, don't loose them otherwise it might cost you a tenner to replace them knowing the cost of Apple spares ;-)

    Poor instructions look on Utube

    • Written by from BIRMINGHAM

I bought this so that I could unload vides without going though iTunes but when I put the SD card into the adapter it could not see the video the reason was,

    1) any info MUST be in a folder called DCIM
    2) the video must not have a name but should be banded in the same format as used by a camera which as IMG_0007 the same goes for images

I did call. Apple support but they were no help at all which is unusual you can also connect flash drives using the camara adapter providing it has a low current consumption I recommend that you search uTube there is a good demo of the adapter there good luck, the iPad2 is great!

    iPad camera connector

    • Written by from PORTSMOUTH

Sorry but this is not very good value. OK the USB adapter works fine and it does support a multicard reader, but as for the Apple card reader very limited use, far to few card choices, so this makes this kit expensive. Perhaps you could increase the range of cards that it can read. For people like myself with more than one make/type of camera, need the range to choose from. Try harder next time. iPad seems to be brilliant.

    Great until iOS 7

    • Written by from London

Used to be fantastic for viewing images on the go (read from SD card). A card full of images would read in seconds and indicate raw+jpeg in the photos app. Since upgrading to iOS 7(ipad 3) read speed has dropped by an order of magnitude or two and is effectively unusable with a card containing more than a few tens of images. I'm not sure if the problem occurs with jpegs only but if like me you like to shoot raw (+jpeg) you're likely to have the same problem. Not recommended until Apple (hopefully) fix the issue in iOS 7.1.

    No Worries.

    • Written by from GLASGOW

I tried the SD card reader for the first time today. Just happened that the first card I laid hands on contained 156 Leica M8 raw images, each 10 Mb in size. Everything - card reading, sending to Photo Stream, pictures arriving on my iMac via Photo Stream - worked perfectly, if rather slowly. I never use the camera connection cable, so that half of the kit is redundant and untried.

The price is a bit high for an SD card reader these days, so only 4 stars.

Does exactly what it's claimed to do. Tested with Sandisk SDHC card, Canon 50D camera, Fuji x10 camera. A good, if rather expensive accessory

After reading reviews I was sceptical of purchasing this due to so many mixed responses, however I am thrilled with these little genius add ons for my iPad 2. They are unbelievably simple to use, my iPad instantly recognised the product and loaded automatically and I was delighted with how fast it uploaded my photos to my iPad. It also gives you the option to erase the images from the SD card once your upload has been completed! Love these two products, could not be happier with them, and was more than happy to pay £25 for them. Happy customer!

    Great starter kit

    • Written by from HAVERFORDWEST

If you just want to import images from your camera (either by USB or from SD card) then it works well. It would be more useful if you could see full screen previews before and select to import or delete and would be perfect if you could control your camera using the USB adaptor.

takes too long to review large amounts of photos

    • Written by from London

Works for a small number of photos (say 50 or less) but it takes too long to preview the thumbnails (before the import) so if youre travelling for a long period of time and want to import a selection of photos at a time (and don't want to wipe the photos from the sd card after import) then it takes longer and longer to review any new photos (as it has to load up each picture from the beginning of the card) as you add more pictures to your sd card every day.

Would be really nice to view something larger than a thumbnail on the camera kit before importing. Not worth the money.

Camera connection kit and Flip video

    • Written by from ROCHESTER

Using ipad 3 the camera connection kit works great with the Flip mino hd 3rd gen video camera. Just plug it in and all the files upload direct from the camera. I also use iMovie. The price is a bit steep at £25.00 but then it's an Apple!

    ...Simply brilliant!!

    • Written by from vejle

And with the new iPhoto and the new iPad's display, it is simply brilliant. Take high resolution pictures e.g. with an DSLR camera, and then edit them with iPhoto, and enjoy them on The New iPad's display. Also works with your iPhone.

    Great extra for the iPad

    • Written by from CHELTENHAM

Bought this as I use my Canon 600D alot, but mainly on the road and didn't want to wait until I return home to import the photos in to my Mac.

With the Camera Connection Kit, the new iPad's (3rd generation) retina screen and the iPhoto app - I can import, edit and upload to iCloud Photo Stream while on the go!

    Great job.
