    Wasted my hard earned money

Connected my sanyo xacti camcorder to be told it needs too much power, ok I thought I will use the sd reader, told the data may be corrupted, no it isn't, works fine on my pc.
Be very careful when buying this, take your main camera with you to an apple store and get them to demonstrate it working.

    Does not work

    • Written by from Seattle

I have a first gen. iPad with latest OS (as of Feb. 2012). USB adapter did not work with Nikon D200 or Canon SD880 and SD adapter did not work with a 16GB Sandisk Ultra. Also both adapters didn't feel very securely connected to the iPad - had a "third party" feel.

D700 owners this is for you

    • Written by from Sheffield

Just bought an iPad, and bought this kit add on too. Of course, it's a pain that Apple charge £25 for something that should be included as standard (USB connectivity) but once you get over that this product just works.

I shoot RAW + JPEG on a Nikon D700. The iPad handles them perfectly, and when I get back to my home computer I can import my files directly from the iPad into Lightroom 3 without the need to use iPhoto.

I was concerned about whether this kit would work, but it does, seamlessly, straight out the box and my photos look fantastic!

    Excellent.

    • Written by from northampton

Both the USB and SD adapter work well with my Nikon D3100.
I was concerened after a few reviews said that they were having problems, shame they never stated what camera they were using.
So no problems importing photos direct from camera, or the SDCH card (TDK 8GB), then sending them on from there to e mail or other sites.
One reason for getting the iPad 2 was so I could take it on my travels and upload photos.
    Very pleased.

Now a midi interface and more!

    • Written by from Cardiff

You get two adapters included, a SD card reader that works great with most cameras and a USB adapter, primarily for connecting a digital camera via its usb cable. However the usb adapter now offers midi connectivity for usb midi music keyboards and iOS4.2 music apps that have been suitably enabled. Connect your favourite powered usb keyboard and play music with apps like NLog synth and more! whats more many usb headsets or mics work as do usb pc keyboards! Bear in mind though the ipad doesnt deliver much power over its usb port so you might need a powered device! a very useful accessory.

    From Good to Bad!

    • Written by from Lymington

We purchased the connection kit specifically to be able to upload photos from our camera whilst on our annual skiing trip. Initially the kit worked well, in fact it was seamless transfer. However, prior to setting of on our hols I synchonised the Ipad 2, whereby an upate must have been delivered, rendering the kit useless. As per the other reviews, this needs a fix from Apple.

    Terrible - Does not work

I bought this from Apple to load my photos onto my ipad but it does not work, Apple fail to tell you that it is not compatible with all cameras, what a waste of money. Very bad product from Apple, not happy at all.

    Poor Effort Apple

    • Written by from Poole

I was very excited when I bought this gadget from the Apple store. we have 2 iPad2's in the household and saw this device as perfect for our needs. We are flying to Thailand this weekend and saw this as the perfect solution to our photographic storage solutions. Just plug the SD cards from the camera or videocamera and upload the photos / video? Sounds brilliant. Reality is, it doesn't work. The whole point was to be able to upload and back up / store all our images and videos WITHOUT having to plug into a computer.I fail to understand how Apple have made such a simple task impossible. I get error messages when I plug in a USB stick, telling me that there is insufficient power. All I want to do is save my memories. I have invested over £1000 in Apple technology and to be honest, its flawed. Its making me start to rethink my faith.

Camera connection kit - doesn't work

    • Written by from Badminton

Quite simple, really. Neither adapter works! Completely useless, so I sent them back for a refund. The iPad port works fine with the VGA adapter and charging adapter, so I can only assume there's a problem with the connection kit, as noted by other reviewers.

    Camera connection

    • Written by from Upavon

We bought a Panasonic G1 over a year ago and it produces fantastic pictures. We opted for a 16 GB SDHC card to give us capacity when travelling. The only problem was sorting through the pictures. The camera connection is the first card reader to cope with the card. The interface is quick and gives you the flexibility to chose the shots to keep. Good value for money.

I was a bit worried after reading some bad reviews but I was relieved to see that the kit worked perfectly with my Nikon D300s. No problem with either RAW or JPGs and downloading onto my mac afterwards. Great workflow.

    Works perfectly

    • Written by from Bromley

I bought this product with my ipad 3. What I wanted to do was load RAW files on the ipad from my Canon 7D which only uses compact flash cards. I was a bit concerned about the CCK from other reviews. I spoke to a sales assistant in the Regent Street Apple store and he assured me it would work. I tried with the camera direct to ipad, perfect. Then I tried with my multi-chip card reader , that did not work as the ipad did not have enough power to run it. I ordered a single chip card reader from eBay, perfect again. The largest compact flash card I use is 8GB so I can't be sure if larger ones will work,

    CAMERA KIT FOR IPad

    • Written by from Karachi

I have a SONY camera which has a mini SD memory in it. I very recently bought the new iPad and I bought this camera kit along with it. When I opened this kit and tried to put mini SD memory of my camera in the kit it did not work. After thoroughly investigating the problem it revealed that yet I had to buy an adapter in order to place mini SD memory in side the kit. This adapter is not part of the kit and has to be bought separately. So be careful to check your camera memory before buying this kit for the IPad. In my opinion the adapter should have been part of kit with little money added in the over all price of the kit.

    Buyer BEWARE

    • Written by from southend on sea

Naively bought this, thinking it would be compatible with a Nikon S6200.
It is NOT as 'the attached accessory uses too much power'.
The only way round this problem is to take out the SD card & use the 2nd card connector.
This defeats the whole point of buying a CAMERA connector.
    Caveat Emptor indeed :(

    Great Idea, but...

    • Written by from LONDON

...Apple forgot to implement iCloud Photo Stream support. At least that's what the lady from Apple Care just confirmed to me. Photos imported straight to the iPad will not become available on your other iCloud enabled devices. Frankly, if I have to then connect my camera (or iPad) to my Mac again to sync them across here too, it seems like it's easier just to import via iPhoto or Aperture and then sync across that way. This will be returned asap.

    iPad kit does not work

    • Written by from Hull

I received the iPad connection kit as a gift and was looking forward to transferring all my photo's.

Neither the usb or sd card worked, and the ipad2, didn't even show any error message.

Apple should not be allowed to sell these unless they work. there must be something in the 'sale of goods act' which coves this. Very dissapointing.
