    Not impressed

    • Written by from Hull

The kit arrived with this mornings post, I tried my Panasonic camera, no problems, tried my Nikon D80 no problems. Then tried the SD adaptor, could not get it to recognise the SD card, infact tried 4 different cards then a micro SD card from my phone in an adaptor. Tried switching iPad off and on, no luck. The strange thing is, my Mac laptop and Windows PC read the cards with no problem.

Does not work after iOS 4.2

    • Written by from Yarm

I bought this kit last year and it worked perfectly with all my camera SD cards, but stopped immediately after iOS4.2 was installed. I have just tried it with my new iPad 2 and it doesn't work on that either. The device is recognised in settings but does not trigger the Photos app as it should.

I strongly recommend that you try this in the shop with your own iPad and SD card before purchase. I have written to Apple about this but have had no response. I would like a refund, but don't suppose I'll get one.

    Sort of useless

    • Written by from Jyllinge

SD reader can only be used for SD cards with photos directly from the camera. It is not possible to transfer pictures from computer to SD card and then transfer to the iPad. USB-connector can only be used for connecting to a camera and transferring pictures.

Apple has a policy that restricts all resonable use on the iPad.

Why can't I put a PDF on the SD-card and transfer that to the iPad?
Why can't I drop pictures directly to the iPad disk when connected to a computer - Apple makes their own stupid organization of pictures on the iPad disk.

    This is ridiculus.

Does Not Work with iOS 4.2

    • Written by from Blackpool

Although apple say it will work with cameras, keyboards, USB drives and USB card readers it wont. In iOS 3 I could import pictures from my USB Memory Stick card reader, and plug m mobile phone into the ipad. Now Neither of these work. 90% of USB data sticks no longer work except very old ones, and it's terrible. I cant see how this advantages anyone in any way, it was perfect before. The iPad will now only give out 20mA instead of the 100mA it used to. There are a handfull of cameras which still work, however a lot are now mauribund.

    A bad joke

    • Written by from London

The recent upgrade to iOS 4.2 renders the camera connection kit useless. The maximum USB output has been reduced from 100ma to 20ma which isn't enough to drive this device.

I invested £500 on an iPad specifically to be able to review photos with clients at the end of a shoot. The fact that Apple has suddenly and without any warning stopped supporting the camera connection kit is appalling and leaves me with suddenly needing to find a grand or two for a laptop.

It's even worse that they are still selling this without informing anyone that it doesn't work anymore.

This whole fiasco is a joke and the people involved should be ashamed of themselves.

    It is ok for some

    • Written by from Cannock

This product does work because it allows you to see the photos off your camera. But it does not work when you come to organise the imported photos. The photos you import are only saved as a standard name. This is not good if like us you have used the camera in more than one place. I would only recomend you buy this adaptor if you are a keen photographer and like to see your photos instantly.

    Expensive and limited

    • Written by from cam

This will only import a limited number of file types and will not allow export - beware, the shop assitant mis sold this as a USB reader it is not one as normal people understand it. Very expensive for a couple of bits of plastic. Apple needs to do better.....

Try before you buy - power error

    • Written by from Stoke Poges

I was so excited about the thought of uploading my photo's to my iPad while I travel, rather than waiting to get home, but ....

This connection kit does not work with all camera's. I use a Nikon D70s with a Compact Flash Microdrive and an onboard USB type B connection. I each time I connect up the cable from the adapter to the camera, I get a warning message that the USB device drains too much power, my iPad camera connector is then disabled. Powering both the camera and iPad to 100% didn't help.

Out of frustration, I bought the simplest card reader that I could find. As soon as I put the micro drive in the slot, the power warning disables the camera connection kit, so I suspect the issue relates to camera's that use micro drives.

Unfortunately, I discovered the error 9,000 miles from home on a once-in-lifetime holiday, My iPad and camera connection kit arrived the day before we left, so no time to check the camera connected in advance. My best advice, if you are not sure, take your camera to an Apple store and try before you buy.

    Horrible!

    • Written by from Milborne Port

    This thing is huge!
It's far to large to stick out of the iPad. Why couldn't you this into the iPad apple!?
Further more it only supports SD Cards.

At £25 this is a complete rip off!

    Disaster

    • Written by from BOURNEMOUTH

My SD card reader couldn't easily be connected to the iPad through the gap in the Apple case. I managed to get one SD card transferred, but since then it has totally died on me. I'll have to send it back and wait for a replacement. This isn't the quality you expect of Apple.
