    huge disappointment

    ios 5 killed the functionality of the camera kit with the iphone;
limiting a perfect adapter for artistic expression.

Doesn 't work since upgrade-very disappointing

    • Written by from Joondalup

I agree with previous two reviewers - a product that worked perfectly, now doesn't work at all since upgrade, a total waste of money. More than the money, disappointment at being unable to send photos home to loved ones.

Second problem as a result of last upgrade - a purchased App just disappeared & it took several days to have reloaded.

iPad is first Apple product I've purchased & not likely to be rushing out to buy more if this is what I can expect.

    Suddenly doesn't work

    • Written by from Crown point

I am puzzled and disappointed..... Used the card reader once with my parents camera (don't remember which brand of sd card) and it worked perfectly. Then, after the recent IOS update, I tried it with my card- SanDisc ultra 32 GB HC, and it doesnt recognize it. I could understand if it was a lousy sd card, but SanDisc is a fairly mainstream brand. I also tried the direct USB dongle, and again it didn't work. I have a canon eos rebel, again not a rummage sale camera. This is the first time I have had an apple product give out on me, and I am not happy.

very disappointing, it doesn't work any more

Since upgrading my iPhone 4 this kit is no longer recognised by the iPhone. So I can't transfer videos from the phone to the iPad. What a disappointment that is. Its pointless getting the iPhone 4s if one can't transfer the video to iPad.

    Camera connection kit

    • Written by from Trimley st Mary

Dont buy this if you use sansdisk sd cards I have tried ultra, extreme and a blue label class 4 none work! It would be nice if apple could tell us what brand of card does actually work?! Luckily my canon 1d mk3 connects with the USB module, but this doesn't help when I am shooting a job because rather than popping the sd card out from the camera to the camera connecting kit, place a new sd in the camera and keep shooting whilst the transfer is carried out, I am now stuck with not being able to shoot the camera whilst the transfer takes place! And the transfer rate is not particularly fast! So it makes the connection kit a complete waste for the working tog! What's even more frustrating is that it used to work on an older version of ios, why apple decided to change is anyone's guess? Was hoping ios5 would get this resolved but no it doesn't!

Connection kits doesn't work at all.

    • Written by from Wilmington

Try to connect the SD card reader with my Sandisk 16GB and Kingston 4GB to my Ipad2 but neither of them work more or less nothing happen at all. Also tryied to connect my camera with the USB port and nothing happen there as well. So useless and I don't know what to do. Have searched for the solution but didn't find one.
Did I just don't know how to or the connection kits is that bad!?

    Does not work.

    • Written by from Camberley

Of the two units supplied, the camera input module works perfectly. The SD card module does not work. Simple as that!
After checking with Apple Store it was discovered that it will work but only with certain brands of SD card. My newly purchased Transcend SDHC 32GB card, speed 10, is one that will not work. This is incomprehensible considering that the images on this card are read when inputted via the camera input module.
Apple should include a warning that its product only works with certain brands of SDHC cards.

    tempremental, not impressed.

    • Written by from edinburgh

thought this wasnt wotking (sd reader-havent tried camera connection) as it didnt work for several cards.
Seems howvwe it does work if it likes the files that are on there. One card had quicktime movies on it and it refused to load, not even the jpgs that were there.
another card with nilon raw files loaded fine.

    very strange.

NOTE - sd card needs to be in adapter before attached to ipad to work, at least with my one.

Camera connection kit - doesn't work

    • Written by from Badminton

Quite simple, really. Neither adapter works! Completely useless, so I sent them back for a refund. The iPad port works fine with the VGA adapter and charging adapter, so I can only assume there's a problem with the connection kit, as noted by other reviewers.

    • Written by from Worcester

Should be no stars really! The SD card or the USB link would not work on Ipad2 on my ipad2 or on 2 other Ipad2's in the store when it was returned for a refund. A second unit was also tested in the store and this also didn't work! Apple need to sort this problem out....Pronto!

Would be fantastic if it actually worked properly

    • Written by from Farnborough

Apple really needs to issue a fix (or at least a page of instructions) for the SD card problems that many users, including myself, seem to be having. The USB connection to my D7000 works well but my Sandisk 8gb Ultra II cards do not work in the SD reader - nothing happens. I've searched and searched for answers but nobody has any and Apple haven't given any pointers anywhere.

    Apple iCan't Connect Kit

    • Written by from Newbury

Total and utter waste of money, trust me don't even be tempted by the Apple die-hard's weak support in these reviews, you would be far better off looking along the lines some kind of Bluetooth transfer of photos like Photo-sync or similar using a BT sd card reader. If you do buy this kit then don't buy your camera first but find out which cameras are compatible (there aren't many), frustratingly slow. This item highlights Apple's commitment to moving along with new technology....and just ignoring about what they have left behind. Who knows we may get a Connection kit 2, and then 3 or even 4 before the years out. I give this one star because the post was on time.

    NO LONGER WORKS!!

    • Written by from WOLVERHAMPTON

Why has Apple done this and reduced the output on the iPads!? It now outputs a 5th of the power that it originally did rendering this useless.

I cannot find a single thing it works on other than using a POWERED USB Hub (good luck finding electricity in the field).

DOES NOT WORK WITH iPhone, SLR Cameras, SD Cards or ANY adapters, USB card readers or non-powered hubs.

COME ON APPLE! This is ridiculous!

    Really disappointed

    • Written by from Bexley

Tried using this with my Canon 550d, it's not so much the hardware thats disappointing, it's the software.... It's VERY slow, not to mention very clunky.... The UI is v sluggish when importing photos, and the import is cancelled if the device goes to sleep. Also my videos will not play when imported from my 550d. There is no overall progress indicator either. To be honest, I would say hands down this is the worst Apple product I have ever used...

The software side SERIOUSLY needs looking into guys...

Connected my sanyo xacti camcorder to be told it needs too much power, ok I thought I will use the sd reader, told the data may be corrupted, no it isn't, works fine on my pc.
Be very careful when buying this, take your main camera with you to an apple store and get them to demonstrate it working.
