    Totally Useless

I have just tried to transfer my photos from my Samsung Camera to my IPad using the camera connection kit and recd a message advising that the accessory is not supported and that my camera uses too much power, thus I cannot transfer my photographs. What a total waste of money and even more disappointingly that I cannot save my photos to my IPad. Total disregard from Apple to their customers, totally outrageous, but yet they get away with it. How can I rate one star for an unusable product, it should be rated zero stars.

    Apple has lost the plot

I'm becomnig increasingly more frustrated with Apple as they don't consider their customers' needs. I've been using the camera kit for 2 years to backup my Canon EOS 7d RAW files. After the software upgrade the iPad will not copy the files from the camera. It displays the thumbnails but when I select Import All it appears to load but a red warning icon is displayed on each image, with no way to read the warning, yet the file does not download. Very annoying.

I pretty much got my iPad for the ability to import images and video from my cameras using the camera connection kit whilst on the go. Since updating the software (thanks Apple), it now no longer works despite trying all the so called fixes available, and pretty much a blanket silence from Apple themselves on the matter, even though lots of people are reporting the issue.

Come on Apple sort this out please. I've been a devoted Apple consumer since the mid 90's, but you are about to lose my custom.

How to import any file into the iPad with the Camera Connection Kit (CCK)

    • Written by from WIRRAL

Tried on my iPad 2 (iOS6.1) with both the USB and SD card adapters. Not all USB sticks work, my 4GB USB initiative one does.

Plug your SD/USB into the PC.
Zip the files you need together and rename the zip file something like ZIP_1234.pdf
If its a single file, just rename it.

Make a DCIM folder on your SD/USB and paste the zipped.pdf file there.

Plug the CCK/SD/USB into your iPad and wait for the Photo app to start. Then import your PDF.

Now to get the PDF out of the Photo import folder, you can use the

Dropbox app, but you need wifi and to actually upload it to Dropbox first!

However, free App Store app iTransfer by ComcSoft works.
Select the ZIP_1234.pdf from the Photo Album/import folder.
Click on it then use Open In to get it to the file manager of your choice.
I use Files Pro. Once there, rename it to ZIP_1234.zip and then extract your files.
If it was a single non-zipped file, rename it back to what it was originally.

Works 100% with Sandisk 2GB Memory Card & Canon PowerShot A1200 Camera

Just bought this from Apple Store in Regent Street, London. It did not work with a Micro SD Adaptor with 2GB of Micro SD Memory inside it, but this could of been the adaptor itself as it was quite old.

I tried my Canon PowerShot A1200 digital camera's 2GB Memory Card in the Memory Kit and it worked straight away, as did my camera when I plugged it directly into the USB Kit. So overall I am satisfied, hence the 5 Star rating.

This product is really good it lets me chose which photos i want on my ipad and I find the best way to do it is to take out the SD card and use that. The picture quality is awesome ever so clear and it only takes 2 seconds to complete one picture and the instructions are well organist and easily understandable but it is very straight forward anyway. I am very pleased with this camera connection kit and is well worth the money. !!

OK - you can load pics from SD cards from (certain) cameras. End of story. Thought I would be able to use it to import pics from my PC, via the SD card. No way. Appears not to read the photo files direct, but only via the index used by a camera. Similatly, won't read a USB stick with pics on it. And the SD card mounted in a USB card carrier yields "too much power". WHY do Apple take so much trouble to make life difficult?

I use this to hook my iPad with Retina Display to my Behringer Mixer using the Lightning to 30-pin adapter (cordless) and Behringer UCA222. Also works great with cameras but my old Sony Bloggie is not supported (uses too much power). Apple please help!

What an utter waste of money!

My Pro SLR doesnt use SD cards. Ok fair enough, that was obvious, but no USB reader, even independantly powered ones read in the device. So it cannot be used. What good is that? just comes up with a message saying the device uses too much power. What?

Add to that the fact that the USB reader is only for photographic files and nothing else and Apple have just boosted their profit level again.

I am a big Apple user, but am becoming disillusioned with their products and attitude.

One star is too great a credit for this derisory product.

    It arrived
    I opened the packing
I switched on my Lumix G
I switched on my iPad 2
I plugged in the USB cable into the camera
I plugged the adapter into the iPad
I plugged the cable into the adapter
Software started and opened an import page showing me all the photos.
You could pick to delete or import either single shots or all of them
SD card adapter was just as simple. What more do you want????

I used this to copy photos from my iPhone 4 to my iPad 2 while on holiday & it worked great. I've now upgraded to an iPhone 5 & a new iPad (ie 3rd Gen) and all I get is a "accessory not supported" message when I connect it to my iPad.

    *sigh*

Ive had this camera connector since the 1st Gen iPad came out and I've never had an issue with the results its always connected fine with my iPad and surprisingly the iPad could even read my RAW files from a Samsung NX10, a Nikon D5100 and now my Nikon D800, I cannot vouch for any other cameras as I havent tried them with it, I usually plug the SD card in rather than the camera wire, although transfer speeds seem pretty much the same.
I'm planning to upgrade my iPad when the new one comes out early 2013 which i assume will use the lightning adapter like in the new iPhone so i suppose i'll have to get a new adapter, its just a shame you cant use this adapter with the iPhone 4S but all in all i think this is a good product and fits my needs.

Got this to go through camera photos while on holiday and sort them on the card , ie delete them from the card , but you have to copy them to the I pad before you can do any thing to them , does not help when you have a 32gb camera card and only a 16 gb iPad with 2gb free space
. I just wish you could view photos from card and delete the dodgy ones with out copying them to the I pad . And a shame you can't copy/ move them back from the iPad to the card :-(
