    Positively annoyed.

    Here I am again, buying my 2nd power adapter from Apple. I assure those who are looking through rose coloured glasses in some of these rare 5* reviews that I haven't been hitting it against walls, treating it poorly or for some odd reason keeping it "stored in water".

    Surprisingly, my T-shaped magsafe did a lot better than the new L-shape magsafe, and had lasted me a whole lot longer than just a measly year. Of course, up till this point, my charger had served me well and I was pretty content, but having it only for a year until it stops charging is not good enough.

    Please improve this product, Apple.

    Not Happy.

    I got my macbook pro for Christmas 2010 and was extremely pleased with the product...up until today at least. My charger has just simply stopped working. At first I suspected it was something I had done, that perhaps a wire had been tugged on and disconnected something, but since reading other reviews I'm now not so sure. This seems to be a common occurance and I don't like the idea that I have to fork out on £50 every 4 or so months for a new charger!!! This is disgraceful! Without a charger I can't access any of my work; it has rendered my beautiful macbook 100% useless. You would have thought that something as important as the charger would be of MUCH better quality! Whats the point in having a 10hour battery life when you can't charge it????

    I love my Macbook Pro, but am sick of needing to replace the Magsafe chargers. I am now on my third one. The first began to fray and stopped working after around a year of use, the L shaped bracket on the second one fell off last week! At £70 per time, customers should be able to expect far better from this product.

    This'll be my third charger in just under two years. Bought my 2009 Macbook Pro 13'' second hand nearly two years ago and the T shape charger that came with it broke about 6 months after purchase. I had another one in the house from a previous Macbook I had and that lasted little over two months. I bought a brand new L shape charger and it seems to be okay for now, though it needs a wiggle before it'll even work. Not only that, but I seem to get the occasional Kernel panic just minutes after I plug it in. I've tested this charger on both mine and my sister's 2011 macbook pro 13" with the same results. This is poor.

    Looks good but bad cabling!

    Any Engineer will tell you what one of the problem is here - it is the thinness of the wire that connects the "brick" to the MagSafe plug. Mine lasted 2 yrs but the wire broke where it enters the brick because of constant bending - it's called "work hardening". Would I pay £50 for a new one - you must be joking. I ran my hobby saw round the seams on 3 sides of the brick to cut thru the plastic; prised the two halves apart; cut the grommet from the wire (where it enters the brick); stripped back the covering on the wire that is attached to the MagSafe plug; separated the wires and re-soldered them to the wires inside the brick, put insulating tape on them and put both halves of the brick back together again and secured them with electrical tape!

    It ain't pretty but it works and about an hour's labour saved me £50!! This charger needs a wire on it that is at least double the thickness of the present wire in order to make it more robust. Or is this a sneaky ploy to introduce a limited life to these things so that we have to constantly purchase new ones and thus increase Apple's revenue??

    Don't bother buying a new one, if you can use a hobby saw, craft knife and a soldering iron - FIX IT YOURSELF!!! It's not hard and what have you to lose?

    Come on Apple - don't be so arrogant and get your act together on these things and LISTEN to your customers!!! We're not all wrong - this is a bad design with inadequate wiring and will continue to cause problems until YOU fix it!!! As for the cost of a new one - you're taking the mickey aren't you???

    I feel Apple need to look at their chargers. I have 2 MacBooks and both chargers broke within a few months. They are designed to wind round 2 hooks but this makes the wire that comes from the charger wear away and eventually break.

    Apple please redesign your chargers!!

    paid a grand for my macbook pro, brilliant idea of it being 'MagSafe' so your laptop dont go flying should you trip over your wire. sadly only 5 months down the line my charger suddenly faults where i have to wiggle it to get it to charge, the following night stops working altogether.

    im off to a apple store this weekend to see if they replace it. i will lose a lot of faith in apple having this so called "wonderful customer support" if i have to pay £50 for a new one.

    Poorly designed connector.

    I bought my Macbook Pro in August 2010, and it is now starting to suffer with connectivity problems when plugged in so that the cable is directed away from the keyboard. I shall be getting a replacement soon, but I have to say I am extremely dissatisfied in the lifespan of the product.

    If I'm honest, pretty poor.

    I own the newest white MacBook, and have done so since around June. At first I thought the charger was odd, as it was different from my friends' older T-shaped ones, but I got used to it. Over the past few days, only having had the product for around 6 months, the magnetic end which connects directly into my laptop has burnt out, to the extent that I cannot use it any longer. The plastic inside has melted and rusted around the prongs. I am, to say the least, exceedingly disappointed.

    Make sure you handle with oven mitts!!! I have a bubbling, blistering burn on my leg from this charger. On the plus side, it charges my computer really well (thus the reason I gave it an extra star for charging so well... and i like that its magnetic). But seriously, be careful about how hot it gets. Wish I could show you my oozing burn from this bad boy.

    Bought this power adapter today and notice that it only charges my laptop to 96% of its capacity - and the little indicator light is green, suggesting that the battery is fully charged. The charger that came with this 3 year old MacBook used to charge to 100%.
    Also, I just looked down at the bit that fits onto the side of the MacBook and noticed that the light was not on. After 'wiggling' it around, the green light has come back on.
    Does not fill me with confidence for a long and happy relationship with this power adaptor!
    Come on Apple, this piece of equipment really lets you (and us) down.

    So Annoying

    I love apple products, have had an macbook pro for about 2 years now and don't want to go back to windows but where do I start with the chargers. i've had 2 chargers in 2 years and I had to buy a third about a week ago. and already its playing up !! sometimes it works and then it doesn't. They should make a protection plan for the chargers because they are rubbish!!!

    Very Poor Product

    My original cable has finally given up the ghost after 18 months however during this time I have had days when the charger just would not work rendering my MBP 13" useless. It would then start charging again after a day or two! I may just bin and go back to Sony as I'm not prepapred to pay £65 for another unrelaible, poorly constructed product.

    My mac is about 4 years old and this is my 3rd charger. The cord disintegrates through normal use. I don't even move my charger cable around much and it always goes bad. Apple really need to forget having a so called elegant looking thin cord and get a thicker more durable one. For saying how much the macbook pro itself cost and then to get replacement things like chargers £65 is bad. These chargers should really be no more the £20 as you have to keep replacing them. All apple chargers in my house do not stand the test of time.

    And the very reason I'm visiting this page is because it's extremely low quality and I'll have to buy a new one. The metal head got easily squished months ago, and the cable under the head has now started falling apart with light green stuff coming out of it.

    Stopped working after 3 weeks

    I got this to replace my original T-shaped magnetic end adapter which lasted 4 years. This new adapter stopped working after less than three weeks. Terrible product. However, IF your item is less than 1 year old and you can prove this with a receipt Apple will replace it free of charge. They are really good at replacing items within warranty.

    Not worth the laughable price tag.

    Firstly I have to say I like Apple products, I am a graphic designer and they are great for what I do from a day-to-day basis. I also get it yes.. of course you need to make them more expensive than the competition to give the user the satisfaction that they are paying for Apple quality and the positive benefits that come with that.

    What I don't get is the need to make Apple users pay way over the odds for simple things like chargers, adaptors, headphones etc. If your adaptors were made of some kind of nigh-on unbreakable wire then fine, great, charge nearly £70 for a simple adaptor. But they aren't. Oh what's that you say? They have a lovely gimmicky magnet which allows you to find where the charge socket on your laptop is in the dark?? No, not just the dark, but it helps the cable from not tearing. Er... but it doesn't does it. As many people here have mentioned, the main area where the cable snaps, tears or rips is by the heavy part of the charger - the actual power adaptor. Is there any super duper magnet or tangle free system here to help? ..... No. It tangles, it tears, it becomes defunct like any cheap adaptor anywhere else.

    Sort it out Apple, either make the power adaptor worth the pounds/euros/dollars or just make it cheaper. Stop taking the Mick.

    Its not like people wouldn't ever need to buy an adaptor ever again as every-time you bring out a new machine you change the connector anyway!

    As in other people's reviews, my cable has frayed and broken leaving me without a laptop a month before my dissertation is due!!!!!
