    Finally redesigned plus extra warranty!

    • Written by from EXETER

So not a happy bunny as two of these frayed/broken but store supplied replacements with 3 year extended warranties thrown in. Apparently Apple have redesigned them back to the old T shape and are now issuing 3 year warranties as standard. Had to have the old L shape for my Macbook due to its age but at least I now have peace of mind and money in my pocket for a few years.

Can I give it zero stars?

    • Written by from Cardiff

Bought my third, they tend to break after about 18 months so no warranty then. Extremely poor product, the one that just died had never left my office. MagSafe 1 was way more robust, this is just just - the pins don't come out any more so it was starting to arc! Well done apple!

    its not that bad

    • Written by from Fareham

I saw the reviews and was shocked, i had to buy a new charger.. but my old one lasted me 5 years ! yes it had tape round it for the last 2 years so the weak points don't break but for heaven sake people its not that bad. Expensive is the only real issue here otherwise the new charger hopefully will last long again i use my laptop everyday so its not like i cant see when the weak points start to break again. But 5 years for one charger ? not to bad really.

    Could be improved

    • Written by from London

I also experienced issues with this product, similar to the other reviewers. However, I am a big supporter of using official products from the official store rather than 3rd party products. Perhaps Apple could improve this product instead.

    Still no good

    • Written by from Castle Douglas

These chargers are still rubbish. When I bought my Macbook air, I asked the 'genius' if they'd improved the durability of the chargers, which they assured me that they had. Well, here I am, with a charger which has only survived the length of time that it has, thanks to the wonder sugru, with another charger which has died, the night before a big uni deadline.

Please, can you make an effort to produce a durable product, rather than one which merely looks pretty...

    They just keep breaking

    • Written by from Hertford

I am so unhappy with this cable. Just love the quality and design of all my other mac equipment but this cable ... it drives me mad! I don't mistreat it, hammer it or do anything i shouldn't. I even limit how much I use it but still, here I am, about to spend yet another £65 on my fifth cable. Not happy.

I've had to buy three of these!!!

    • Written by from Newcastle upon Tyne

I'm having to buy my third power cable for my MacBook Pro in two years.

The power adapter is one of the worst products ever made by apple,
the cable frays the rubber coating perishes within 12 months,
the connections both at the box and at the connector break.
A product is only as good as the weakest link,
apple your power adapter is certainly your weakest link!!!!!

    Good bye
( If I could I would have given it a half star rating)

    Terrible

    • Written by from Borehamwood

The cable is of very poor quality and frays exposing the wire underneath.

I have never had a problem with other laptops. Very disappointed.

Will have to avoid buying any more Apple computers because they aren't much use if the chargers don't work.

    Terrible

    • Written by from Glasgow

Clearly flawed design, my wire has twisted at the connection even though I have never wrapped it around my MacBook or misused it. Had mine for 2 years and now need to pay £65 for a new one? Completely shocking. When are Apple going to pay attention to the reviews of this adapter and do something about the issue.

Apple represents high quality design for a high price. I don't mind paying a high price if its fair, but this is the second charger i've had in 2 years. Wear and tear around the cable wear it connects to the transformer. Happened to many of my friends too. Sort it out Apple

    Fatigues quickly

    • Written by from LONDON

Stress on the wire will mean that this charger breaks, and when it breaks it is pretty dangerous (exposed wires and sparks a lot). The fact that companies are now producing and selling silicone seals to protect that part of the charger shows that it is a common fault, as alluded to by the orevious reviewers. That said, it worked for me for 3 years before giving up, but once the lead started showing signs of stress it quickly degraded to the point where it was dangerous to use and it eventually gave up. For a charger that costs over £50 to replace, this isn't really acceptable in my view.

    Absolutely awful

    • Written by from Maynooth

Seems to be unable to manage travelling and normal day to day home use. The plastic wears off on the cable and subsequently the whole thing stops working. I have a four-year old MacBook Pro and I've had to replace this twice in that time. Tempted to move back to PCs.

    Magsafe L connector burnt out

    • Written by from London

The L shaped connectpr has fused and burned out. Adapter is pretty new, maybe 18 months old. 65 quid to replace. Would give zero stars out of five if that were possible..

    Worst thing ever invented.

    • Written by from Marlow

I've had my macbook pro for 3 years now and have spent £110 on repairing the fan and replacing broken hard drive cables. Also I'm on my 7th power Adapters... thats £360 spent on replacing chargers for my laptop. thats almost £500!!! in total.

    How they broke
1st- the end that plugs into my laptop melting off.
2nd- the same end only worked at an angle until eventually it gave up
3rd- cable near the plug burnt away
    4th- Same thing happened
    5th -same thing!!
6th - same thing but this time it would spray sparks like a firework sparkler. Great hazard for the kids in the lounge
7th- Now bought a copy on amazon. Lasted the longest so far, currently using it but can see a pink mark on the cable from wear it is starting to burn.

Refuse to buy a new one.

I'm tired of buying the charger in every 5-6 months. Today going to buy third one. Its a shame on all the apple products.
Please change the design the charger and make it like other companies, which last forever.
This product never got a single positive review. Grow up guys...!

Product is far too expensive.Only had to purchase it because the original had rotted and started to fall apart. When this one eventually goes the same way as my original I will be taking both back to an Apple store and insisting on a free replacement.

    Dangerous

    • Written by from Bath

First the cable started to break at the base of the connector just like on the old macbook, the mag connector started to heat up, the wire then started to spark and burnt my trouser as I threw my mac on the floor and turnt it off at the mains! No point in taking it to court as there are others trying, and apple has big lawyers, won't be able to afford court. They don't care about there customers safety as this has happend since the first macbook!!! You should be ashamed of your selfs!
