This is a fantastic device. So much easier to use than a magic mouse.

Would have been 5 stars except for the pairing instructions which just did not work on my Mac mini. Searching the internet should that this is a common problem with desktop Macs.

The correct instructions for may Mac mini should be:

1 Press the On/Off button on the trackpad to turn it on.

2 Choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Bluetooth.

3 Click + to set up new device.

4 Select Apple Wireless Trackpad and click continue.

5 Click Quit when the trackpad has successfully connected.

6 Choose Apple > Software Update and install the software updates for the trackpad.

Once you have used the trackpad you will never go back to the mouse, the feel,ergonomics and elegance of the trackpad will add another Apple experience that you will be not regret, those of us who use the laptops with the pad will have no hesitation in adding this accessory to our desktops.brilliant

I'd not heard of this product until after it was released, despite being a subscriber to all the Mac comics, and I wasn't sure what to think. But I bought it as a comfort buy (I'm currently working abroad and was feeling sorry for myself; it's also cheaper in Switzerland than the UK!!).

I have been amazed by the Magic Trackpad. I've been using a Magic Mouse for over a year with various software packages but do get frustrated that I can't always get it to do what I want. No such problems with this. I'm using it with BetterTouchTool which allows me to add loads of extra gestures, including Spaces, Expose and other functions which other reviewers have complained about missing.

The surface is beautiful to touch, control is excellent, and the footprint on the desk is minimal. I also carry it around with me as it's light and easy to pack.

Don't limit yourself to the Apple software which although adequate is surpassed by other 3rd party items like BetterTouchTool.

Well it refused to do anything but the most basic things when paired with my 2010 Macbook Pro 17 despite many attempts to check settings and update software. So not much evidence of magic there. This purchase is headed for the local recycling centre.

Having recently purchased an iMac, I decided I would give the Magic Trackpad a try after reading the glowing reviews that have been posted. In total honesty, it is undeserving of it's praise. I found it rough on the hand, tiring to click properly and the angle was uncomfortable on the wrist. I feel sorry for the Magic Mouse and the amount of stick it gets from the reviewers, I however feel it is the best input device for a computer to date.
In summary, get a Magic Mouse over a Trackpad any day.

Took a little getting used to after the Magic Mouse, slightly different gestures, but pure genius - why did Apple wait so long before making this.

Would be much nicer if it was cheaper, but then again it's Apple so what do we expect?

Get one today you wont be disappointed!!!

This is such a smart idea. It is extremely usable and saves desk-space. I really liked my Magic Mouse however this replaces it.

I'd give it 5 stars but I think the configuration options could be more extensive and flexible.

For example, I use Spaces a lot. I like to flick between the 4 screens I use regularly but to do this I need to use the keyboard.
It would have been nice to have had the choice with the 4 fingered left/right swipe to move between my Spaces rather than have the pop up application selector which is slow and cumbersome.

It would also be nice to have a gesture that allows for Expose to reveal all windows in all Spaces as I was able to do with my old, now dead, magic mouse.

The Magic Trackpad gets 4 stars for being responsive, well designed and easy to use.
I almost bought the magic mouse a few weeks ago, very pleased I didn't now that this has come out.

I bought this today for use with my new iMac. I have often wondered why Macbook/Pro users have the joy of effortlessly browsing by tapping on a trackpad- and along comes Apple again with a stunning product. It looks beautiful, feels beautiful, and works effortlessly once the system software has updated (very important).
Buy one. I have the trackpad and my Magic Mouse on my right, and my graphic tablet on my left, and am in heaven. Thanks Apple!

No problem with installation and comfortable to use. In my opinion this is much better than Magic Mouse!

Also, there is no need for a mouse mat...which is nice, because I always need more space on my disk. However you need to mack sure nothing under the trackpad, otherwise the click could not work as it should be.
