    great product when it works

    • Written by from Slough

I recently bought this to replace my magic mouse (which i never had problems with) and its a fantastic product except for one thing, the erratic behaviour. now its not 100% of the time but at least a few times a day. The discussion boards are filled with people having problems with this device. dont get me wrong, when it does work, its great, but then it flakes.

I think for the cost premium of Apples products, they need to pay a bit more attention to bluetooth implementation and customer needs in general and not soo much focus on the shiny toys. this ones going back for sure.

    Actions too Erratic

    • Written by from Douglas

Have had this for 5-Months. Periodically try it, but always give up. It is either oversensitive or completely unresponsive. For instance, I have never managed to get it to drag anything; yet the very faintest touch will often have it jumping into a usually unwanted and unexpected action on the desktop before you can even position the cursor. The 2-Finger scroll and the 1-Finger tap are the only actions I have ever managed to get a, sort of, consistent action out of. It is very difficult to place the cursor where it is wanted. A couple of the other actions, listed in the Preferences, do work, but are largely uncontrollable. Others, like the vital Drag Option, just do not work. Am using it with up-to-date Snow Leopard.
A disappointing product, - but maybe it is me - others seem to live with it.

    OVER SENSITIVE

    • Written by from Ivybridge

OVER SENSITIVE to the point of being less than useless. Mine is set up in exactly the same way as the track pad on my macbook. The macbook works brilliantly. The Magic Trackpad should work in exactly the same way but instead, it is sensitive to the point that it will randomly select text, no matter how light the touch. It has a mind of its own.

I'll be returning mine on Sunday. Hopefully the replacement will work. £60 should buy perfection. This device is worse than the clunkiest, most knackered HP circa 1999 laptop track pad in the world.

Mine doesn't even merit one star.

Brilliant Idea - when it works

    • Written by from WOLVERHAMPTON

The discussion forums are rife with people who have bought these magic trackpad and get intermittent functioning - I too am one of those people - some days it will work, other days it won't - I have had to resort to going back to my trusty wired mouse and have taken the trackpad back for a refund.

    Disappointed

    Unreliable

    • Written by from LONDON

Not had for very long, and now it simply won't turn on even after using the correct batteries and trying new ones. Sometimes the bluetooth really struggled to pair with my MacBook too.

    Doesn't work!

    • Written by from London

After following the set up instructions all I can use the trackpad for is simple scrolling up and down! It is not possible to set up the multi-touch functions and all I get is a warning 'no trackpad found!'. Complete waste of money - just hope I can get a refund!

    Pointless

    • Written by from LONDON

Well it refused to do anything but the most basic things when paired with my 2010 Macbook Pro 17 despite many attempts to check settings and update software. So not much evidence of magic there. This purchase is headed for the local recycling centre.

    AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

    • Written by from Scarborough

DO NOT BUY! THIS IS THE WORST APPLE PRODUCT I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. IT ONLY WORKS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT. I'D ONLY GIVE IT ONE STAR BECAUSE IT MAKES A NICE PAPERWEIGHT.

Not to my liking - but could please some.

    • Written by from WALTON-ON-THAMES

I bought the Magic Trackpad in order to try it out and see if it could be of value. On reflection, it is the worst Apple product I have purchased. Sure it more or less does what it claims - but it is no where near as useful (for my use) as the truly magic mouse.
